An Open World

@@tripbunny EQ was what hooked me to MMORPGs. From 99 to WOW launch. Mained the ole bard. I recently played Teek on the TLP server. Nostalgia ran wild!
I also played a Bard back in EQ1 back in 1999. I backed Ashes with the hope it would be a return to a Bard that played support with some fun combat options. Loved pulling entire zones back on the day. I do wonder what the combat will look like with this class.

My guild leader is a bard irl and will be in game as well. He's already dropped an album/story series.
I'm going Cleric (priest/priest) because I've never done it and want a challenge. I know I'll need his support.

I'd never healed for 10 years of playing wow and when classic re-release happen in 2019 i rolled healer and fell in love, it is so rewarding and you are always in demand so always easy to make friend and get groups, good luck and see you in alpha 2 brother!

I feel like intrepid did right by the fighter and ranger so far. If that follows suit for the bard we are good to go!
I will say one thing with tarisland bard they offered a rather interactive mechanic with 1/2 skill generating coloured music not (as seen in bottom middle of ur tarisland bard clip) and the 3 skill did something based on what coloured muisic note was on that scroll. And talents unlocked more coloured notes which changed the 3 skill.
Only played tarisland for like 4 hours so dont know how deep it goes but it seemed rather basic but expanding on a mechanic like that could be interesting keeping bard more interactive gameplay.
I do hope what ever they do with bard is there a little more interactive than just a buff bot cycling through short duration aura's

As long as we can play music i'm happy. I don't think it should necessarily be limited to bards, but i'm fine if it is as well as long as it's in the game!
@@aidandesilva Big agree! We haven't heard about it in a long time but it was stated this will be a thing. And custom music at some point after launch.
I was really happy when they confirmed a bard for AoC. I do play as a bard whenever I can in rpgs, do so ofc in FFXIV.
Its such a fun way to play, Very excited for what Intrepid reveals on 7/31!
@@Roarrior absolutely, I really need a new MMO. My many, many hours in both WoW and FFXIV were great but I feel the need for something new. SW: ToR did not quite meet my expectations nor did Guild Wars 2 or few others I tried. I am okay with them taking their time with AoC because 1. It will make a better game and 2. I will save enough money to buy a new PC by that time :D I wanted to also let you know that I enjoy your videos, you have a good charming voice and charisma to do this, cheers!

The Songcraft tree in Archeage was kind of a cool take as well, but I was a big Bard fan in EQOA
6:40 that is definitely not something they are planning. You'll probably be able to create a dps bard but you'll sacrifice the buffing potential.
Imo not everyone needs to be able to dps, but everyones job should be fun and fulfilling. There is a video about the node war live stream where a guy says he created a hybrid of cleric and dps so there is definitely a possibility of making those, and he also said that it has impacted his ability to heal a lot. Obviously there is gonna be balancing so you can't be master of all trades.
@@HalIOfFamer the fun and fulfilling part is what in interested in. And the mana battery isn't something they are planning? I assume not. But the general opinion from most the PI testers was mana was an issue, and all said they needed that bard. May not be intentional but it may become a reality. We shall see on the next live stream.
@@Roarrior there is an interview of Steven where he breaks down how the grouping system will work.
1. Group comp is gonna be important, 8 of the same class will probably not work.
2. Loot is finite, the more people in a party the less loot everyone gets.
3. Most dungeons are gonna be open world
From this I conclude that(and I may be wrong):
1. some dungeons will require bard and in some he might be redundant.
2. You might consider stocking up on consumables instead of bringing another guy who's purpose is to be a mana bot
3. Other people might come and gank you so wasting a slot on a mana bot might cause you to lose a pvp encounter, as they are usually very short and not that mana intensive.
If I am correct, and I dunno if I am, having those X bot classes that just press 1 button might be very ineffective in day to day adventuring and very specialized for a select few encounters which will make picking them for groups feel inefficient and thus they'll level very slowly. And that might lead to them not being popular.
@@HalIOfFamer I'm only speaking of the interviews from all the PI testers that came out after the node war. All said mana was borked and they couldn't wait for the bard lol. Regardless of what Steven says play tests will determine all. And in this case was wanting the mana rejuv abilities of the bard
