    Hi, Just watched you video for the first time, I have a few k-jet cars, rebuilt the metering head and painted black like yours and finished the with petrol resistant lacquer, worked for me no more pealing paint after petrol spills.

    Great video ! Ironically I just posted up how to do the same, but with a Mk1 golf cis system

    My 8V is dying after a few minutes of running and I have a feeling it might have something to do with the fuel pressure. Any other ideas you can think of maybe? starts fine when cold, runs for a few minutes and starts losing power until it dies.

      @GreyGooseRestorations  Před 10 měsíci +1

      It could be that its not holding system pressure or it may be another fault being CIS-E it has the lambda sensor and DPR to contend with

    Hi, just doing my research before starting to look at my WUR problems. Just out of interest has have you ever seen anyone use the UTCIS electronic warm up regulator on a KR?

    So i have an issue where i think my plunger in my distributor is stuck because i keep getting fuel delivered even though the metering flap is closed?

    • @GreyGooseRestorations
      @GreyGooseRestorations  Před 2 lety +1

      Could be, theres 3 torx bolts that hold the metering head onto the air metering part. Undo those and gently lift the metering head off, that will allow you access to the fuel plunger. Some fuel may dribble out when you pull the plunger out, just give it a clean up with some form of WD40 stuff.

    hi, could you help me ? where did you buy the 2 little blue thread part and the little steel pipe to make the pressure test system ? regards

    Is this similar concept to an 8v kJet CIS Mk1? Will be doing same this winter.

    • @GreyGooseRestorations
      @GreyGooseRestorations  Před 3 lety

      Yes pretty much the same, i think the warm up regulator is slightly different but testing the pressure is the same

    Great video and great channel too 👍👍. Some amazing work has gone into this, i wish i had your knowledge!.I have a quick question if you have a moment please? 👍
    I have a mk2 gti 16v with an abf motor running kr hardware and still on kjet all done by a previous owner. Its never given me any trouble apart from when the aftermarket immobiliser got stuck on. The problem i was having is that when i fired it up it just died straight away. My mechanic made an adjustment to the mixture using the key on the metering head and the idle screw. It improved the initial firing up but the car then would idle for a few mins then would shut itself off, just die!. Its not in use at the moment but id like to get it fixed if i can!
    many thanks fo any suggestions 👍👍
    best wishes.

      Thank you 👍
      First off I'd be looking at the immobiliser, trace where its been wired into and unplug it all, then see if thats your problem.

      @@GreyGooseRestorations Thanks for your reply 👍, the immobiliser was duly removed by a local auto electrician (sorry, i didnt explain it very well looking back!)
      That cured that particular problem. The firing up and dieing issue has been more recent. Im thinking it is fuel related maybe? many thanks again for your help 👍

      Did your mechanic understand the K-jetronic system? (Not to insult his/her intelligence)
      -check all rubber intake boots for spilts
      -check all vacuum pipes are ok
      - fuel pressure is what id be checking to as that can have a big effect on running

      @@GreyGooseRestorations Hi, wow that was a super quick response many thanks! 👍.
      Yeah he is an ex vw mechanic and was around when these cars were new at the dealerships, he is good but has retired/moved away now, the trouble is people dont want to chase faults on these older cars now!
      The vacuum lines have for a long time puzzled me, there aren't too many of them on the 16v is that correct? from airbox to inlet manifold ? mine seems to have those fabric connectors still!
      I've suspected the fuel pressure yes, accumulator maybe?
      It has always been faultless for a 16v really and never let me down until the occasional cut out started at junctions and start up. I have read up on kjet over the years and have a basic understanding but im not really clever enough to put it into practice! working on fuel systems worries me if im honest and electrically i struggle too 🙈 This spoils an otherwise really good car.
      Thanks for all your help again, i won't give up just yet 👍

      Have a look on Clubgti in the 16v engine and OEM injection sections, so much info in there.
      Yeah theres only handfull of people in the UK who will and can work on k-jetronic motors

    • @GreyGooseRestorations
      @GreyGooseRestorations  Před 3 lety

      Sounds like it could need the warm up regulator rebuilding, or the idle valve is playing up, when you turn the ignition on does the idle valve give a constant buzz? Its the part on the right hand side of the inlet manifold with a long rubber pipe/tube going to the air intake pipe

      If its buzzing then its working.
      So once the cars warm it wont idle and won't rev properly?
