Just got this radio for my car (2011 Polo GTI 6R) and the installation was super easy and only took a few minutes. The original radio was the same as your original radio, but mine lacked Bluetooth/phone functionality as it was missing the under-seat Bluetooth module. Now I have full Bluetooth/phone functionality! All my steering wheel controls work as normal and the phone button now works with both answering and ending phone calls. The voice command button still acts as a mute button, but I'm fine with that. Overall I think it's a fantastic upgrade! I do have one question though. Have you experienced any issues with battery drain with this radio in your car? I heard it can be an issue with this radio on newer models, but seeing as our cars are slightly older models I wouldn't think it would be an issue.
If you leave your car on ignition then it will gradually drain. The screen will tell you your battery low & turn on car in order to carry on using. No need to worry 👍
@@saleh523 Ah sure, all good then. Was curious because I can still turn the radio on without the car being on via the radio power button but I was told that's a pretty normal thing for most cars. Hopefully shouldn't be an issue then.
@@addya4011 Mine ran quite smooth for the most part. Is yours an RCD360 like in the video? If so, I'd highly advise you replace it with an RCD330. The RCD360 uses the old faceplate for these older model VW vehicles but has a completely different pin layout in the back which is used their newer vehicles on the MQB platform. The Mk6 Golf and Mk5 Polo, which I have, are on the previous PQ platform. The connector is the same style, but has a different pin layout. Because of this, the RCD360 cannot connect to the car's CAN bus system, so the radio will always draw full power regardless if the vehicle is running or not. Two days after I installed my RCD360, I went to start up my car and the battery was completely dead and we had to recharge it for a while before I could even use my car. The RCD330 uses the same pin layout the factory radios use in the Mk6 Golf and, my vehicle, the Mk5 Polo, so it is able to connect to the CAN bus system and function properly. Avoid the RCD360 and RCD360 Pro at all costs. As long as you have an RCD330, RCD330+ or RCD340/340G, you'll be just fine. But if you have an older car that doesn't have CAN bus, like the Mk5 Golf and Mk4 Polo, you'll have to buy a CAN bus emulator, otherwise you'll encounter the same issue regardless of which radio you get.

Might be your adapter harness, sometime the seller supplies the wrong cable which isn't compatible. I'd suggest speaking with them for another cable/adapter harness.

Nope, if you use it when your car is in ignition (engine not on) it will drain the battery & your screen will warn you to turn on your car or it will turn off the headunit to prevent it from draining anymore.
Everything works same as before: -Volume up & Down -Right (next music track) or Left (previous music track) -Click volume to mute/pause/resume If you have call/end call buttons should work aswell.
Installed mine - everything works fine but the date on the screensaver doesn’t automatically change? Wondered if you had the same issue? Also if you knew how to turn the black screen when in reverse (don’t have reverse camera or sensors)
Haven't had a issues with my automatic change, try reinstalling it. If that doesn't work, install the original & see if the time changes on it. If it does then the rcd unit probably faulty also the reverse screen goes black because there is no sensor, so I presume you will need to install the parking sensors inorder for it to disappear.
Yes. Replace it with an RCD330 instead. I had this exact same issue with my 2011 Mk5 Polo. This happens because the radio has a different pin layout where the connector goes into, hence why it comes with the adaptor. Because of this, the radio is unable to connect and communicate to the car's built-in CANBUS system, so the radio thinks the car is always on all the time and it will draw full power 24/7. As soon as I got rid of mine and got the correct model, the issue never happened again. I have an RCD340G but it's pretty much exactly the same as an RCD330. Just get the RCD330 and you'll be solid.

@@Adnan-jn2nk the factory radio my car had originally was the RCD510 which has 6 buttons. As for phone connectivity with the new radio, the phone connects via Bluetooth for phone calls and media playback but requires a USB connection to use CarPlay/Android Auto.

If you are trying to connect from factory reverse camera, then you'll need an adapter. Anything aftermarket should be plug and play

Hi, your device should be supplied with an adaptor, id recommended contacting the seller. Every device receives an adapter in the box.
