Craft sets to die for!
ANOTHER GREAT HAUL SIR,IN THE MID-70S. MY BROTHER AND I WOULD HIT OUR HOBBY SHOP ABOUT ONCE A MONTH AND SPEND ABOUT 100 DOLLARS ON AIRFIX AND OTHER TOY SOLDIERS SETS.STILL HAVE MOST OF THEM LOOSE THOSE.THIS VIDEO GAVE ME FLASHBACK TO THOSE TIMES,THANK YOU.ENJOY YOUR NEW TREASURES.TAKE CARE
Great stuff. Its a great trip into my childhood memories watching your shows. Thank you so much.
I remember getting the Coastal Defence assault set for Christmas way, way back I can still feel the excitement of seeing the box and then opening it up to see all wonderful cool stuff inside and then discovering that the 2 guns actually fired, it's o wonder I can still remember it after all these years, thank you for sharing this and taking me back to my childhood.
What a christmas present!!
nice set, looks good 👌👌👌
You can see how Airfix solved the "chopped artwork" from the 70's boxes having the window in the middle of the box to what they did with the boxes from the 80's- split the box in half diagonally putting the artwork on one side of the box and then the window in the other (lower) corner. It was brilliant and gave you the art and the view of the figures. Great stuff!!! You've got a wonderful channel and collection!!! Nice catch on noting the colors of each country on the WW1 boxes- that is cool the Iron Cross gray for the Germans. It really POPs!!
Iron cross that`s what I was thinking of. Thanks.
Love your videos, I don’t personally collect what you show but as a similar aged man who loved his toy soldiers as a kid I can totally relate. Best part for me is how the value of these items come across, not as dollars and cents but the memories and happiness that comes with them. Looking forward to more videos!
I’m 62 and I am still in love with Airfix after all these years.Still got some of my unmade kits from younger years.I have still have unopened among others the Robin Hood,Sheriff of Nottingham and the Coastel Set tucked away.I was more into the kits so figures and play sets kinda sat on my shelf.I had the dioramas sets such as D Day with the kits ,figures ,base board, paints all long gone.Loved em.Great vids
Wow that´s amazing that you still have those unopened.
@@toysoldiernostalgia The secret is that when I left home at 18yrs old to spread my wings I left many of my old toys behind. Many were high on cupboards/wardrobes and mum being shortish didnt bother to get them down to give to charity organisations which she was part off.Once my wild days were (semi???)over I came home and collected and took them home much to my now wife’s annoyance.I have a shed full of kits to build in my retirement 🤣.I have an Airfix t shirt that I proudly wear to the pub and you wouldn’t believe all the great comments I get including a very presentable 40ish lady who poked my chest and said I used to play with my brothers Airfix soldiers.
@@alanthorne3921 thank god for short moms.
You made the dream of many come true.
You hit the jackpot there Jerry those play sets are immaculate. It’s as if you had a time machine went back and got them. They’re super nice. I would never play with them like you said you got other ones you can use them. Very nice fine and they’re not cheap.
Never knew Airfix did a WW1 range as well they sure made lots of things
Very cool.
Fantastic!
Those tea dispensers were very often used to make spacecraft models for film and TV, by people like Derek Meddings, or Ian Scoones. Once you know what they look like, you will always be able to see them, no matter how many greeblies they are covered with!
Lovely haul, there, and those Airfix window boxes - wow. Those brought back some very happy memories. That's why I love your videos - the things that are important to you, resonate with people like me; your Blue Box farm, for example - my kid brother (54) had one, and played with it all the time. He passed it on to his daughter, and she loved it, too, even though it was such a simple toy. All the toys you show, are powered by something that sadly, is in short supply nowadays: Imagination. My brother and I would spend hours in the garden, on our bit of dirt, and create worlds with a few Matchbox cars, some Airfix figures, and a load of imagination. Kids today probably wouldn't even want to go on a bit of dirt. Sad.
True words. I have a photo of me aboute age ten (1978) where I set up an airport in the hallway in our flat. Everything very organized. To me it wasn’t just a few toy planes and cars on the floor but a real airport full of life and action.
@@toysoldiernostalgia - Yes! We would keep the individual plastic tubs that desserts came in, and paint them silver - then we would use them as a moonbase. That's what imagination can do.
Thank you. 👍👍👍
WOW,WOW!!!
So many memories from local toy shop.
Incredible play sets.
The railway set still available today under different name.
Just so enjoy your love of what was my toys.
Looking forward to more films of each set.
Keep filming.
Yeah it´s so much fun unpacking our childhood toys.
Is it Hornby that still makes the railway set?
@@toysoldiernostalgia
It's Dapol.
They make most of Airfix railway kits.
@@user-vr6kt5ds7b cool. I need to check them out.
I had all four of the assault sets, but I don't remember the armour being so anachronistic. Maybe the sets were different in the early 1970s or maybe I never noticed. Then again, maybe I didn't have them as sets, but as the individual components ... it's so long ago now.
Thanks for the nostalgia.
The sets always came with the same vehicles. I have same thing with old toys. Hard to remember I realy had, a friend had or I just wished I had.
@@toysoldiernostalgia Yes, memory can be a fickle friend. I bought the coastal fortress set for my son in the early 2000s, from the museum at Arromanches, of all places . I don't remember any vehicles coming with the set then, but I didn't play with it much. He wouldn't let me😀
@@I_Don_t_want_a_handle all four of the assault set buildings was also sold seperate.
It's like Christmas every video you upload! Great bundle of Airfix figures and the play sets! Very nice.
Call me Santa 😃
@@toysoldiernostalgia 😆 I'll get my list in!
Awesome Unboxings! 🫡
Thanks.
Siete fantastici. Continuate così.😊
Great un-boxing video, you have brought back some found memories 👍
I get so excited when one your videos pops up😂
That´s awesome. Hope you liked it.
Another fab video!! Thanks!! (cool, also!)
Thanks 😀👍
Tape removal is very tricky, lighter fluid works pretty well, dissolves the glue, dries quickly. Some discoloration from the tape is permanent.
Great unboxing as always! I recently used some "played" matchbox die casts from the 70's
Matchbox was my favorite toy cars.
What makes this even more exciting is that you get it described to you by Roger Federer !
??
@@toysoldiernostalgia thought you sounded a bit like him lol
As usual interesting toys pretty cool military sets I've never had. I used to collect 1/72 scale but eyes not good for that scale anymore. 1/32 and larger is preferred these days but I still haven't bought any soldiers it's always models with the occasional box of model soldiers that have to be put together in 1/35 scale. And as I always find the German infantry is what I have lots in model form. Just have to have patience to build them. As always interested to see what surprises are in the boxes.Good stuff.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Do you collect different manufacturers of 1/35 soldiers?
@@toysoldiernostalgia Hello. Thanks for question message.I have a few of the Tamiya German infantry, German grenadiers and a couple of Tamiya German Afrika Korps two different sort of poses to make. A couple of the Airfix German infantry multy pose and British infantry, a few Dragon brand that get better in details as time goes by. I do have somewhere amongst my out of control collection Italeri German Tank crew and officers. Oh yes also German Trumpeter Tank repair crew and modern German vehicle crew, Modern US marines, US Tank crews and Israel Tank crew. Sorry for repeating words. And winter white Camo German WWII paratroopers I think by the helmets. That's Dragon figures. So I do go for what is most impressive. I still have no idea how to use CZcams to do some showing of some of my items. All the best.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
I've seemed to have lost the videos of Toy soldier Nostalgia. What's happening? I'm not seeing anything apart from other videos about different toy soldiers.🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️🤔
@@toysoldiernostalgia Are you still doing your videos on collections? I'm seeing other videos of different soldiers sets and painting figures. I like to see more of the box unpacking great toy soldiers and vehicles.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
@@George-pp2hr during the summer I´m pretty busy both with family and military stuff. So I have less time to make videos. I still buy stuff and need to unpack them so I have to make time for those videos first.
I will make more videos on just toy soldiers and different sets starting early september.
i had the pontoon set
Those vintage boxes -those are what I was buying as a kid in the 1960s -no Romans or Ancient Britins?/ But the play sets are incredible and the shiny plastic. Lucky man (poorer, but lucky)!
I`m working on getting the last few sets of the first type box. Those two I still have to get.
8:29 In English we call that Sherwood Green, although I think those figures are a bit brighter.
What isn’t appreciated is that the WW1 & WW2 uniform guides on the early boxes were rather accurate. For example, the DAK was shown in green, rather than the Sandy colours used in later illustrations.
Haven’t even had time to have a propper look at most of the boxes yet. I’ll have check that you. Thanks.
Reminds me i have a box of Airfix sets in my basement.Wonder what i have?
Carful...
I did that and now I'm collecting 😂
Go have a look and let us know.
IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT YOUR AIRFIX SETS LOOKS LIKE IN ACTION,YOU SHOULD FIND SOME OF DONALD FEATHERSTONES WARGAMES BOOKS ON LINE. HE IS THE FATHER OF ENGLISH WARGAMING.ALL HE USED WAS AIRFIX FIGURES AND PRODUCTS.
Yeah centurions not so ww2 lol
Lol it’s so silly.
