    Why is Ryan the nicest kid on earth??? I love how he answers all of his mom’s questions and never acts like he’s annoyed or too cool for all of it. I’m so impressed by him.

    I hope Katie isn’t obsessed about her body image. There’s been multiple videos where she mentions things about food and concern even though their family eats healthy. And that’s only the times she’s mentioned it on video. Common for gymnasts too.

    Katie shouldn’t be worried about calories/carbs! She’s an athlete and needs them for energy! What she was saying about calories and carbs reminded me of my disordered eating. I too would want to eat healthy, but it went too far. I learned it the hard way but now I’m on the road to recovery! Please help her change her mindset!

    My mom, stepdad, and I grow some of our own produce here at our house in Utah. It's important to research what zone you are in for your soil. That can play a part in how well certain crops will grow in your area. It is also good to know some plants are "friends" and don't have issues growing together. Whereas, others are "not friends: and don't do well growing with one another. In regard to the deer, you can look into wire fencing made to protect the plants from the deer. I hope this helps some! Love you guys!

    My husband is obsessed with his aero gardens. He has two of them that he keeps in our laundry room on the shelf right off of the kitchen. You can grow flowers, fruits and veggies using these and all you have to do is keep the water cartridge full and maybe a tiny bit of other maintenance here and there but we’ve grown all of our own herbs and veggies during the winter and even summer and we pluck them right off the aero garden and into our meals. I think it would be a great starter for you guys! There are many different ones. Something to look into.

    Ryan needs electrolytes for the headaches. I like Ultima from Sprouts. I get headaches all the time and that helps. I also second others comments on running shoes. ASICS are my go to. Hurdles were my jam. I ran them for 3 years on varsity. I lettered my senior year and made regionals that year too. I’m glad Katie tried them out.
    Good Luck on your remaining tryout days.

    You can grow zucchini in large pots on your deck in full sun! And also bell peppers! Saves you more space in the garden

  • @madnatty
    @madnatty Před 2 lety

    Hi Jill. I can totally see you building a raised garden area with fencing around and over top - keep the wild animals and kitties out, and it’s easier as you grow older. There are heaps of inspiration pics online. Another thing that’s easy to grow in summer is green beans - up a trellis or wall, in full sun. If you’re worried about irrigation, when you build it, incorporate that and you could even have a timer. Good luck.

  • @ethandelwood5700
    @ethandelwood5700 Před 2 lety +1

    6:30 - I'm a senior too and grow vegetables in the summer - not nearly enough to live on or anything but not a horrible amount, either. If y'all are interested in one this summer, go for a small 10x10 area in the backyard that gets plenty of sun. No fences + deer are an issue. Expensive solution - formal fences around the area. Less expensive - plant turnips, carrots, other sweeter but low maintenance plants for a good amount around the area (deer will still eat some of the good stuff, but hopefully not all). Seeds - now's a good time to buy seeds (not pre-grown plants!), for better suitability to the ground & better price. Plant in late April - early May. Good luck

  • @kimmeleca9698
    @kimmeleca9698 Před 2 lety

    Yes , I grow my own veggies. It’s a commitment for sure. Build a raised garden ( boxes) - you may need to put a critter fence around the boxes. You can start them from seed but need to move outdoors ( hence the point of the garden). I plant tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, lettuce, kale and tons of herbs ( basil, cilantro, rosemary,parsley, chives, mint, sage, oregano ( these are in planters).

    I live in Massachusetts and have a little garden fence in a corner of my yard to keep out some animals . In the summer we grow tomatoes, cucumber, a variety of peppers, squash and zucchini. It is in an area that gets sun the majority of the day and we water for about 10 minutes every day.

  • @katiebwheeler
    @katiebwheeler Před 2 lety +1

    We just moved to a place with a good sized yard and are putting together a garden right now, already got our starts going. We have a huge deer issue here too, we bought a 10ft x 20x chicken run to keep deer, rabbits and birds away from our garden. We have three 8x4ft containers inside as well as a handful of grow bags….

  • @karliemaxey3885
    @karliemaxey3885 Před 2 lety +2

    Zucchini and cucumbers are good to grow in the fall. And squash I usually grow in the spring-summer. The squash don’t like too hot of weather so the later in the summer it gets the less they make. Never tried to grow lettuce before though. For deer you can buy some repellent to sprinkle on the ground. Also an electric fence will work great!

    Sounds like Katie is trying a new program in the gym. If so, do not worry about gaining or loosing weight in the first few weeks. Glycogen has to bind with water as fuel, which muscle cells convert to glucose as energy. When you start a new exercise program regularly, your body stores more glycogen in water for fuel to meet the new demands.
    At first the water adds a small amount of weight. But then as muscles become more accustomed to the exercise and more efficient, they begin to need less glycogen to maintain the same level of energy output. Water retention becomes less, so your weight will start to go down. Known as loosing the water weight, which can amount to several pounds. Then as muscles begin to grow the weight starts to come back on again. Its a process that discourages a lot of people starting new programs because the confusing results are all over, contradicting what they started the program for. If you want a better gage measure biceps and waist at the beginning, then after about 8 weeks. If biceps are getting bigger, and waist is getting smaller you know you are heading the the right direction.

    Raised garden, I think, is the way to go. 10 foot by 4 is manageable with a heavy wood frame to keep it neat! Plant what you eat most in three rows, makes it easier. Lil anti 🦌 chicken wire stapled in and BOOM! Easy Peasy. Takes less then an hour to make. Hour to fill and plant. Spend the rest of the day eating stinky feta!

    Peppers do much better in warmer soil, so you need a raised bed or large pots so the soil can warm up more. Peppers also like phosphorus which you can get by adding match heads & Epsom salts. You need a trellis for cucumbers & zucchini. You may want to research if the vine boring beetle is prevalent in your area which can dramatically affect your ability to grow zucchini. The beetles bore into the vines and prevent water from flowing to the zucchini. If it is a problem in your area you can grow Italian gourds that resemble zucchini but don’t have the beetle problem like Cucuzzi (snake gourd), or Zucchino Rampicante. The problem is that having a vegetable garden requires consistent watering and you can’t really do that if you are going to spend most of your free time on vacation or in another state.

    you should try upside down planters that you can hang out on your deck,and grow veggies

    Carbs are not unhealthy. Just focus on not eating super calorie dense foods which are mostly processed foods and things like nuts etc. You can easily be in a calorie deficit and still feel full. Just eat a lot of foods that are high in volume and low in calories. Think of things like popcorn, apples, raspberries etc. Any fruit or vegetable really. Don't get into a unhealthy relationship with food. Just make smart choices and you are fine.

      He and Brennan claim that the water out of that sink tastes better and is colder. And so I tried it. It is actually TRUE!!

    Here me out... If you order wolf pee online and sprinkle it around your garden and flower bed, the deer will stay far away.
