    Those snook are smart as hell. They know there is a hook in the bait but sometimes they can't help it and try to get the bait off it without getting hooked and sometimes lose! It's not very often but they do slip up every once in a while😎. Congrats bro👍👍

    What a fish never got one that big , question for you I use to fish the surf a lot using 15lb mono now I am starting to wad the Indian river dur to the winter months the surf sucks due to dirty water and high east winds starting around December or so , now I'm using 12 lb mono with a 30 lb leader have you ever fished this light line before ? I don't eat fish but just love the battle, thanks

    • @justin_menendez

  • @krbassin2465

    One mistake I seen is when i hooked him u decided to run up towards the dock big no no, u hook up on a big fish like that u get as far as u can away from structure

    • @justin_menendez
      @justin_menendez  Před 5 lety

      She already had me beat to the dock. I wasnt going to turn her head once she went on a run. So in my opinion my best chance of landing that fish was follow her into the dock and it worked out for me

    I see that stake out hole in your trolling mount. That will keep the big fish from dragging your gheenoe around. Excellent patience landing and releasing it sir! Fished that area once and can't wait to get back in a few weeks.

    • @justin_menendez
      @justin_menendez  Před 6 lety

      I would stake out the boat if I wasnt near structure! If I stake the boat out and the fish runs under a dock I wont be able to race over there and untagle it before it breaks me off.

    Legit question as a non Florida native, are u guys never concerned with alligators and the attention a struggling fish this size could attract? or even inland bullshark for that matter? Im assuming they are passive in the day time and not much threat but I still doubt I would just be chilling in the water to handle the fish as murky as it is.

    • @justin_menendez
      @justin_menendez  Před 3 lety

      Just keep yours eyes out. I’ve never heard of anyone having issues with alligators or sharks inshore while landing fish. They are around but never been an issue for me.
