    No need for a counterweight. Just attach some big helium ballons to the front of the helmet to keep it from shifting forward, problem solved.

      Even better if it's those reflective, crinkly mylar balloons. The mylar reflects the infrared spectrum, masking your IR signature. Boom. Full spectrum stealth

      I like to add the NVGs to the back of the helmet and put the counterweight in the front so there’s no chance of my vision being obscured if the Wilcox mount fails and the monocular drops and blocks my vision

    I was blessed to have a friend find me a gently used blemless Elbit Gen 3 thin filmed green phos PVS-14 for $1950 shipped. Low Light Innovations makes a terrific "white" filter that essentially mimics white phos in appearance with limited light transmission loss for only $25. To save money on the mount, he suggested an "Evolution Gear L4G24 NVG Mount Perfect Replica" for only $85 shipped instead of the $465 for the real one, and the quality is phenomenal. I also picked up a used Wilcox AN/PVS-14 Arm for $150 shipped down from the original $229 price. Botach has a Longfri Level IIIA ballistic helmet for only $199 that is around 3 pounds, good quality for the price and there are lots of ballistic test videos on them. I also went with the FCS AMP Headset that is a fully functioning Replica of the Ops Core AMP for only $175 shipped down from $999 for the real one. I plan on running a Disco 32 PTT with them to get my Comms squared away. Although all of this stuff is still expensive, there are ways of making NVGs and Comms realistically affordable instead of an unobtainable pipe dream. I highly encourage yourself and others to do the same. I was able to have just as functional of a setup for a little more than $2,500 that would have been $7,500+ if I had gone "Gucci" on everything.........

    I need some advice. I am looking to get some sort of NV monocular to mount on a helmet. I already have a clip on thermal rifle scope that I mount in front of my day scope to hunt hogs at night. its really hard to use the thermal for movement purposes at night, especially since I have to detach it from the rifle. Is there some sort of setup that would allow me to view NV through my left eye that would leave enough room next to my right eye to easily throw the rifle up and shoot through the thermal with my right eye?

      2x PVS14s- Roughly 6K. About 3k a pop from a reputable seller.
      Bridge mount for PVS 14s- Any where from 300-1500
      Helmet- About 300
      Earpro/comms with rail mounts -400
      TNVC Mohawk- Roughly 60-80 depending on generation and model.
      I would guess the light on the side is in the 200-300 range.
      Expect just south of 10k for something like this.
      Could probably do it for 8-9k if you shop around and wait for sales and stuff to go on clearance. DO NOT GET ANY OF THIS STUFF OFF OF EBAY OR AMAZON. There is a good chance that it will be a cheap knock off.

    • @collinis1

      1pvs-14 gen 3 -2-2500
      Bump helmet used -200
      Howard Leight earpro with unity mark -100
      Mohawk 60
      Cheap streamlight /used surefire helmet light -50
      Rhino 2 mount -60
      I set myself up with something similar for under 3k

      @@Rolley189 Is that common to buy 2 pvs14, and put them together,I thought was ment to be one eye and if you wanted 2 you would buy a setup that's made that way.

    • @Rolley189
      @Rolley189 Před 3 lety +1

      @@meh9682 I would say somewhat common. Most people buy a 14 first due to their versatility and cost. Usually 2500-3000. They then save up for another and bridge them like you see in the video. (I would caution against this as if you get two tubes that aren't similarly specd your eyes will be receiving resolutions of information and you could get some sever eye strain leading to a bad headache after and hour or two)This allows you split the units and hand one off to someone else. It is VERY heavy though and a mod3 bravo would achieve the same result. I don't believe that unit was available at the time this video was made.

    For the most part, if you buy the "higher end" one. It comes with a sturdy VAS shroud (sometime aluminum) that can fit most Rhino mount quite snugged.

    • @Y34RZ3R0iscoming
      @Y34RZ3R0iscoming Před 6 lety +2

      akira357 the more expensive helmets will be more comfortable, and better quality parts. The team wendy for example has sealed pads, so they wont absorb sweat. To clean them you just rinse them off in the sink

    • @akira357
      @akira357 Před 6 lety

      Tactical Crusader His "low budget" build is not even the lowest mil spec option my dude. Team Wendy is $300. Regular ops core helmet goes for $200. His wilcox mount is at least $500 not to mention that he has to get a different arm for that dual pvs-14, which is like easily another $500. Dual pvs-14....well roughly $6000.
      You can get into the night vision game (non combat) for a lot cheaper than that. Of course if I'm buying a ballistic I'm not gonna buy airsoft shit. So yeah I'm just asking for Sage opinion if airsoft helmet can be a temporary mean for the average joe to get into night vision.

      And first of all. I'm sure you're not even special ops. Those guys get these gear FOR FUCKING FREE! so for a citizen to buy into shit like this is like already a luxury.
