    What does a professional hockey speed workout look like?
    Any hockey player who wants to add another gear to his skating must follow a productive speed program off the ice.
    In this video, I walk you through one of the speed workouts I use with D1 and pro hockey athletes to develop game-changing speed.
    Since you only need a few hurdles (for the first exercise, the hurdle jumps), you can easily do these same drills at home or at a nearby sports field.
    Full Speed Workout:
    1) Hurdle Jump 4x5 60s.
    2) Lateral Bound 4x5 60s.
    3) 20m Sprint x5 120s.

    when should this workout be done (during offseason, preseason, season, etc.?)

      Later in the off-season or pre-season when your body has adapted to dryland sprinting with shorter distances (5-10 meters) first. Otherwise, you risk pulling a hamstring or groin.
      Can also be done in-season but only if you keep dryland sprints in your routine throughout the winter. Going 100% after taking a break for 2-3 months is a great way to pull a muscle.

    Do you incorporate hill sprints as well to strengthen hip flexor? I like Nordics and the monkey foot

      We do hill sprints for conditioning. Hip flexors get plenty strong from heavy single-leg work. Nordics are fine but I prefer glute ham raises as explained here: czcams.com/video/q49kvs1u2PE/video.html

      @@NextLevelAthletics what heavy single leg exercises are you referring to for strengthening the hip flexors?

      Front- and rear-foot elevated split squats are two of my favorites.

    how many times warm up ?

    • @NextLevelAthletics
      @NextLevelAthletics  Před 2 lety

      None. You'll perform a general dynamic warm-up before the first exercise, which takes 10-15 minutes. Full warm-up routines here: goto.my/WarmUp
