Matt suspected a marked deck a few times, but he just couldn't see it. I was wondering if he might see something. He couldn't. Amazing! It's quite an effect, Craig. Very nice. Looking forward to getting mine in the mail this week.

❤❤❤ funny that matt doesn't see "old tricks on new cards". It is really smart to use these cards instead of playing cards as in "black and red cards". really smart, and really well thought out., So I have to buy these cards.
many of the old card tricks get a whole new life and make it even harder to see through.❤❤❤
Thank you for this video 😀 I've been watching all the "hype" (not necessarily a bad thing) around this effect. I've been wishing to see one of more full, uncut, first-hand, performances of Evoke. Craig demonstrated a few really good "card tricks" (more on that later) from Evoke in this video. Keep Up The Great Work Craig!
However, I am still on the fence on purchasing Evoke. Although I am very pleased that this video was posted, this video did not feel like a demonstration of magic effects to me. I felt like I watched a few magic tricks - there is a difference between the two. In fact, Matt's expressions, body language, and actions during the video showed classic examples of being fooled by a magic trick - as opposed to being filled with Wonder by a magic effect. "Why am I thinking about this? It's a trick". It's the same way I react when I see one of those metal puzzles - the shop owner solves it in a few seconds and I spend hours trying to figure it out. Now watch the face of a child who sees a hot air balloon, floating in the sky for the first time.
As a magician though, my favorite trick (yeah, I said trick, because that's how they were presented) was the Oil and Water variation. I can see myself taking that one and turning it into an EFFECT of matching and changing emotions under some (perceived) influence.
So I would LOVE to see at least one other performance from someone who can perform any effect using Evoke that doesn't feel like a magic trick or a card trick. 😊
The problem is this was not the spectator or the environment to evoke that type of reaction. I’ll post some of the performances from the tutorial at some point where audience members are literally crying. That’s never going to happen with Matt. Him and I have a different relationship that would make that possible

Think that’s a fair challenge. The live performances on the tutorials definitely demonstrate the impact this can have.
And we do have to take account of the fact that Craig has only recently embarked on this journey, and hasn’t had a huge amount of coaching yet from Matt as to how to do mentalism. But he is showing promise. ;-)

In the meantime, I am going to order 1 or 2 Evoke decks. I just came up with a KILLER routine blending Evoke and another popular effect. I'm working to design the routine now 😃

Just wanted to stop by and say Congratulations 👏 on Evoke!
I believe Evoke has so much more Potential then Magicians are giving it credit for.
If used as Mentalism and doing a cold Reading not just a card trick. Evoke could be a EDC that could be Very Powerful and a Reputation maker!

Think about it. A layman will not look for marks or know what stacks are. A killer. Brilliant deck Craig

One case in point ... Last year, for the first time, I performed a few effects for my co-workers using another popular marked deck. I work as a Mobile app Software Engineer and my co-workers are other software developers and quality assurance (QA) engineers. Most of the audience present had no idea of the markings on the cards ... except for two. They were our QA Engineers. Their job is to look for bugs and things that out of the ordinary. They came to me in private, after the performance and describe to me exactly what they saw on the back of the cards.
What this tells me is a) lay-people are not as "clueless" as we like to believe. In an era when secrets are as close as a laptop or cell phone, very little is truly hidden. and b) no one truly knows what lay-people are thinking during and after a performance. Those two were just kind enough to approach me and tell me their thoughts.
Thankfully, they also admitted that they enjoyed my performances in spite of discovering the secret.
Bought it within 5 minutes of release from Alakazam - this purchase was a no brainer! 🙂
Lovely to see this being performed on Matt and his reactions to the routines are so unfiltered- I have the deck and I'm going through the hours of tutorials- it's somewhat overwhelming! I thought it'd be nice to just see some of the routines beining performed in this way so that I'm inspired to continue making notes from the tutorials to narrow down a handful that I will learn. It's great seeing the effect these can have on a spectator. Using emotions is a very powerful approach in mentalism.

I really envy Matt. I’ve been messing with magic for 30+ years and get fooled once in a while even to this day. But Matt gets to get fooled all the time while he’s plowing through a crash course, and I miss that feeling.

Lovely kit, I would prefer a tarot size? I like how it doesn't 'feel' like cards, but wonder if someone can do all the effects without bing able to handle cards? By the way guys, thanks again for the rescue at the Session.

I love this dek. The effects deomoed here felt more like card tricks.But with working out presentations around the emotions,I can see some great routines with this. The deck is so clever and does all the work for you, so you can focus on your presentation. I havent seen anythin like this in Magic before. I think, for mentalism, this is Craigs best release.

This has just opened up so many possibilities, especially with already released affects, I feel like doing this trick combined with like the French kiss can be a dangerous combo, imagine having multiple packs of evoke the things u can do with duplicate card ideas 💡

Great timing….Evoke arrived today and I was just engrossed in the video tutorials. Feeling a little overwhelmed with so many ideas and routines, but can’t wait to try it out.

Xenophobia is very strange to include, maybe excitement could have worked. I think this is an extremely clever and well thought-out deck. However I think the idea of gauging someone's motions could be very unnerving for some spectators.
Obviously I don't own the trick but my gut feeling is it could leave a spectator feeling uneasy after, rather than joyful which isn't great. Anytime you ask someone to think of a negative memory you could really upset them.
