amitabah Bacchan is a good actor but he has no subtle artistic skill as Shashi Kapoor had. evidence is that Shashi Saar acted in many art movies and in western production while Bacchan has never did.

Amitabh was cashing his angry young man image repeatedly which happened to be popular among viewers at that time. He fitted the hat but his acting was considered good only in serious roles like Anand, Abhiman etc. which were far and few until he matured into character actor roles.

His nature was also very lovely as he was very helpful, he helped Amitji and in some of the movies Director tried to show other actors dominant and Shashiji's role was smaller but still he did those roles. He didn't understand the dirty games played by them.
