I'm Edinburgh born and bred but never lost my love for the city. It's great to know that visitors too appreciate how unique a place it really is. You're all welcome anytime.
If I go, I tell people, "TicketyBoo sent me". 😉 LL
Yeah straight down your throat, thanks for the welcome you soft disgrace to your ancestors. I can just tell you see. And it's not about immigration, you people are just loosing yourselves so easily.
I love Edinburgh to bits! (And the host looks good in a kilt (-; )
Scottish are hospitable people
Hope to get there next year.
I love that guy who said he was Scottish first and second.. 😊 what patriotism. Good for him!
Seriously. Dudes a legend. Love scottish people like him who know their roots/history and are proud of it.
You think patriotism is a good thing? More fool you.
I love Rick Steves' philosophy of loving all the cultures of the earth. He demonstrates that being cultured is not just for the wealthy: It's about a love of history, culture, food, etc. I have a lot of love for Scotland personally, but I enjoy learning about all the places he travels.
Right on! He seems like a real sincere genuine person and i can tell the good people of Scotland are as well..i just Love the Scottish people..i just admire them and all of the Celtic nations.. beautiful languages accents personalities to the gorgeous buildings ancient and new alike
It is such a privilege to get to live in this beautiful city and country. The Scots are some of the nicest people on earth, so welcoming. Going to Uni here is phenomenal
I so agree too!
I’m glad you like my country 🏴 It’s truly beautiful and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
long live seanconnery a.k.a jamesbondte best james bond!
I have been a student at the University of Edinburgh for almost 4 years now, I still have one left and I have yet to get bored of it!

Wow so nice and beautiful country
On the streets of Edinburgh I saw most elegant people.
One of the most beautiful cities!!!
Elegant people? In Edinburgh? Don't make me laugh.
One of the most beautiful cities in United Kingdom.

Brilliant beautiful city love it
Lovely Edinburgh
my buddy rick thank u king
Hello to everyone from California USA
Edinburgh is my favorite city. I've visited it eight times from California, a long journey, since 1974. At last, it appears my fall 2021 trip to Scotland is a go! I can't wait to visit my favorite, some nostalgic, haunts in Edinburgh. And, yes I have Scottish ancestry on my mother's side, the Burrells.
Living here. I can say that this is the best city and one of the most beautiful in the world. If u have a chance to live here then TAKE OT!!!
The castles are so pretty
Scottish are very nice and hospitable people.
I went to 8 different countries in Europe last summer. Edinburgh, by FAR had the friendliest people, full hearts with lots of humor. I miss it everyday❤
Love Edinburgh. And their people. So friendly and beautiful.
They called them kilt because thats what happend to the last person that called it a skirt
😆
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
😂 ...well there u go.
haha funny only if scots speaks more understantable english!
Wonderful Scotland / Beautiful Edinburgh
George Job no it’s no 😂
I love UK 🇬🇧😍
He is a great presenter with full of Grace.
Rick Steves is a world treasure.
A student in this city and these have been some of my best years. A beautiful city; the stuff dreams are made of.
It is replete with Victorian and Georgian historical architecture, old Scottish charm, old world pace of life. What a charmed life one leads here !
Would love to visit another country that is so wonderfully different from the USA. This, beautiful place in witch I live is not now what our Forefathers intended for the people who are struggling with the hunger, hate, homelessness, and the government has amended the constitution to be what they want not how,it was written. Political leaders are not doing anything for anyone. I am researching other places to live. 😢
What a lovely country city and people, greetings...
Best city in UK without any doubt and friendly locals
Love and respect from Scotland. I am sure you will like my videos as well.
it was the friendliest place i ever been, i worked in 1989 in the youth hostel and i had such a nice time in edinburgh. the people are wonderfull and great. greatings from the rhine valley in germany!
Finally! He nailed a local accent!
A little personal hint : Cramond village at the Firth of Forth. Northwest of the city (can be reached by bus) . A few houses, a small harbour, nice views, ideal for a walk. It seems as if you are very far away from the big city. The more adventurous can walk to Cramond Island by low tide. Just get back before the high tide comes in.
Ty for the GRAND tour Rick.
Beautifull country
It's so beautiful and historical, yet still cosmopolitan where a girl can find everything she needs. I really love Edinburgh.
What a great documentary about Scotland, and about the importance of philosophy and knowledge. THE WHOLE WORLD NEEDS A PHILOSOPHY, SCIENCE, KNOWLEDGE REVOLUTION. KNOWLEDGE INCREASES THE LIVING STANDARDS OF PEOPLE
My favorite place. Loved it.
It was love at first sight for me 6 years ago. I visited 3 times up to the highlands and some of the islands before covid. Rich history, friendly and down to earth people, majestic and beautiful landscapes, good whisky and traditions. Hoping to visit and continue my pilgrimage to other islands.❤🙏
The Scots are very handsome at that. Out of a hundred Scots that I saw, 90 were very cute.
So proud to have gone to grad school in Edinburgh. I lived right around the corner from the castle esplanade, overlooking the gardens and the art gallery. I was spoiled.
you were. I'm at Sacramento's university.
@Scott Fraser Maybe so. People are friendly at school. You see lots of squirrels hanging around students asking for food. Occasionally, there are turkeys walking around campus and every once in a while you'll see some wolves walking around as if lost. I saw a skunk once at night. The only negative I can see is that you can't walk anywhere from the school since it is isolated. You have to drive or take a bus to the nearest store.
@Scott Fraser Yes that was all part of being "Better Together" wasn't it?
@Scott Fraser I think you could do with being beat over the Head with a Club! There is obviously something not right with you!
@Scott Fraser Niddrie has really developed dude. I used to live near Craigmillar in the early 2000 before I moved to Glasgow.
We were able to go to Edinburgh this past fall, our favorite city from vacation (holiday). Apart from the fact that everywhere we went was "up" and our feet were making nerve noise, it is hard to express the love we felt for this place, this city. Everything was well done for visitors, and was beautiful. Well, the parliament building was....hmm...loss of words on that one, but everything else was a boon to one's soul. If only we could live there!
Great city but it’s the people I love the best. Friendly and very helpful.
My darling dad & I were both born in Edinburgh....looking forward to seeing you.
What an incredibly beautiful place. If I was born there, I'd never leave. Thank you for the vicarious visit!
It is an amazing place. I was brought up in Edinburgh and it is only after years of living away do I really appreciate how fantastic it is. Is easy to take things for granted.
what a beautiful country, Always wanted to visit Scotland, one day i will, greetings from Italy
Tony Gazza I’d love to see Parts of Italy, also a beautiful country (much better food there) love from Scotland 🏴
*but seriously leave the haggis, eat the tablet.)
That final jump was magic :) cheers for sharing, Rick & team.
Scotland looks beautiful❤
Sevastak It really is! I’ve been living in the Scottish Highlands for a year now. Originally from England, I’ve also lived in Ireland and Wales, and Scotland is in a league of its own. Stunning scenery and friendly people. I love it!
I’m Scottish, and Although I don’t live in proper countryside, it’s no more than 5 minutes away. It’s beautiful here.
Thank you Rick, for giving us the opportunity to see these beautiful places, through your eyes.
I love Edinburgh. I've been a few times, the most recently with a friend, and we had a great time.
Great Presentation!
I love Scotland. I would love to live there.
So would I... *sigh*
No you wouldn’t
@@finnjeffrey572 exactly ... typical hypocritical comment ...
So go there ... is a free country
@@aureliaandris8240 next lifetime
I love Scots their beliefs and determination.
What "beliefs" do we Scots have? Curious to know.
Beautiful city. Thank you
I am so glad you are on utube! I've watched your travel blogs for MANY years! Love , love , love!
My daughter loved Scotland on her study abroad trip💙💙
Sri Rick stive you are great, you take our loves. We can seen many places from your hard journey.
This brings back memories. Spend a year in Edinburgh 30 years ago and still Scotland has a big place in my heart. The Scots are some of the most witty and friendly people I have ever had the plesure of meeting. Thinking a revisit should be comming up post COVID, especially as I have now learned to appeciate whisky, something I had'nt when I lived there and which was greatly frowned upon then. I should like to go during The Fringe Festival. The family I stayed with fled the city during Fringe, so I feel like I missed out.
16:20 "We do suffer from short arms, and deep pockets" haha, scots are funny
Haha
They're Jewish then?
I love you Sir Rick Steves
i love Edinburg and Scotland is my essence....God send the path of the future success...
the weather is terrible that why so many left scotland
Scotland bless God and God bless Scotland! Can't wait to visit!
Love it- saves 11 rounds. Genius!
Kilmalcolm is a village above the Clyde, 17 miles from Glasgow is a stunning village with beautiful grand Victorian house. This little village had more millionaires per square mile than anywhere in the world. Even in the 70’s 1 in 10 villagers was a millionaire, this was due to the Clyde with ship building and its huge port.
Living in Sydney, born in England, travelled around and Edinburgh remains my most favorite city in the world, especially at Christmas. Beautiful to look at and the best people.
Hyacinth Bucket would lose her mind if she visited the Brittania!
Beautiful city! Highly recommend it!
Edinburgh has the friendliest people! Great video showing different Edinburgh attractions. Lots of great shopping on Princess Street!
Princes Street, not Princess Street...
My trip to England and Scotland, back in 05, was the highlight of my life. An ancestor supposedly save Robert the Bruce back in 1321 I believe. Don't quote me on that. When I toured the Castle, it brought some of my heritage to me so clearly. We were told not to take pictures in the war memorial, but I got one in about some of my ancestors. My family has fought for Scotland even before we were Turnbull's. We were known as Rhule, from the Rulewater district on the border.
I have been there.
A really beautiful city! And super nice people!
this video inspired my trip to Scotland last year
what a great video i live accross the bridge in Fife and its made me realise how much i take for granted
so many guys gathering and watching, and they just fire the very one shot everyday,LOL!!!
Edinburgh love this city with high views and musical history and the high, ands .Great days with friend that lived In the Old town and went to University of Strathclyde.Great days with music walking and museums and art galleys. a must for artistic people.Great days .
Thanks, Mr. Steves, for taking me on this nostalgic trip to Edinburgh, a city close to my heart.
The beauty of the countryside and buildings is so lovely, too bad so much time is spent on war and fighting. I understand the fighting is a part of the history but only a part. I hope in the future that peace and collaborative effort allows all of humanity to enjoy the landscapes, architecture, artistic, sporting and scientific discoveries. Thank you Rick Steve’s for showing us the beauty as well as the violent history.
Robert Louis Stevenson had a house in Saranac, New York where he went to help cure his tuberculosis. It's a museum there for those in the US who can't travel right now.
I think the outtakes at the end add a nice feel for what Scottish people are like.
All the conveniences of a big city, with a close proximity to nature. Perfect balance.
Edinburgh My beloved city....ADORABLE ...!!! Cant wait till July for another visit..❤❤❤
Edinburgh is the most fascinating city in UK, London is great too but not as amazing as Edinburgh is.
I visited this beautiful city in August this year. I think I left my heart there. I hope I can visit there again. The problem is that I live too far away to go. I am living in Seoul Korea.
I think I met you there in a trip to Highland
Our son teaches conversational English in Seoul. Plans to stay in South Korea for life. He is finishing his Korean language studies for this purpose.
Seoul is a beautiful city, was there in 2017
@@wallingnaga6563 I visited Edinburgh in 2019^^
@@jenncute2560 I missed my chances during 2014/15 😭
Half a world away I lived for 8 years with my grandma in another village of Edinburgh☕it's on a mountain with winding roads and hills that were farmed
and surroundings with names like Woodstock, Lancaster etc. Fresh air and temperature sometimes 40F many English retired there I'm told later and many local sent their children to study in Scotland. Many have Scottish surnames too...
What's the name of the village? Sounds like a very fascinating place.
Proud to be born in Edinburgh bet city in Scotland
Wonderful, as usual 😍❤
I loved Edinburgh I was there last year for 4 days before I left and flew home to Western Australia.❤️👍👏🏻🇦🇺
The last time I was in Australia couldn't wait to come back to Scotland because of the heatwave. I was literally being barbecued alive.
Gorgeous and epic city.I really want to visit one day. These Scottish shops are so beautiful
Spent 7 wonderful days in Edinburgh..loved it and the people are friendly...
Thank you Rick Steve for posting good job...
Great city to visit. Enjoyed walking the royal mile and taking in the views around the castle. Friendly people
Thank a lot Rick for your best ever Travel Documentary on Europe I felt as though I was there physically!
I re traveled my visit to Edinburgh !!
thanks Mr. Rick 👍👍
If you are visiting here I would recommend the shore, the new town, Roslin and the Pentlands hills and North Berwick.
Totally agree. Tantallon Castle is easily accessible on the way to North Berwick too. I would also add Longniddry and Dunbar onto the list.
Perfect&Wanderful❤
Thank you Rick
Finally... The first American that I have seen to pronounce Edinburgh properly!
Ironically, this is the first Rick Steves episode I watched (a long time ago) and it is also my favorite. (and I've seen them all) I would love to visit.
north of Britain is always amazing . I been to north of England in lake district , Manchester, Preston and many more places it always gave me peace . south of England is always about rush n busy life .
It’s called Scotland, not north of britain!
Thanks for all the videos. Beautiful.
