  • Stunning footage from a week long expedition to this remote area of Spain. Early November brings colder more challenging conditions and even snow in the high plateaus of the Montanas Vacias. You can view the GPS tracksat / strava (November 2019)

    Great trip. Thanks for sharing. That's another one for me to add to my list if we ever get out of lockdown.
    A tip when staying staying in the refugios is that they often don't have water. In fact, I don't think I have ever stayed at one which did have water. It's best to top up your bottles before arriving at a refugio for the night. I always carry a water filter (Survivor Filter is the one I chose) to make the puddles or water troughs more palatable and less risky if the streams or fountains have dried up.

      Thanks for the info! We found in other areas of Spain the Refugios were near water - or even had water pumps!

    amazing trip but the music does anything to do with the center of Spain...it's flameco from Andalucia..

    Being from the "real" Lapland I must say I really enjoyed this video. Stay glued from beginning to end. Good job on you. One question. Those refugios, how do they work? Do you have to book your stay ahead or is it ok to just drop-in?

    • @budthecollie
      @budthecollie  Před 4 lety

      The Refugios are open all the time - but very basic! Unless you need a fire or are having bad weather camping is better.

    great vidéo! How did you choose the route? Is there any website for bikepacking in spain that you can recommend?

    • @budthecollie
      @budthecollie  Před 3 lety +1

      For this route we followed part of the montanasvacias.com/ route - lots to look at there! Also check out our other videos with the Altravesur. We have another video coming soon as well with another crossing from Lisbon to Valencia - and amazing journey!

    Amazing video. Looking forward to cycling about 600kms of the MV myself even more now! Planning to go there next spring. Did you take a flight to Valencia and how did you get to Teruel? By train?

    • @budthecollie
      @budthecollie  Před 4 lety +1

      We were short of time so hired a car and parked near the station. Car hire is very cheap although train would be nicer!
