I think that White Diamond created the other Diamonds so she could get rid of her emotions. She gave Yellow her anger, Blue her sadness, and Pink her empathy. She then gave Yellow and Blue important roles: Yellow was left in charge of Homeworld’s military system, while Blue was left in charge of Homeworld’s judicial system. But Pink was not given a role. I think that Pink was basically White’s pet. That White kept her in a small room and gave her nicknames like, ‘Starlight’. White never took Pink seriously, and only saw that everything that Pink did was some kind of game. This is because White didn’t see Pink as an equal, she saw her as her play thing. White decided to try and train Pink, so she put Yellow and Blue in charge of that. Pink would probably never get an important job like the other Diamonds did. But if Pink had been given an important job, it would probably be to oversee the creation of new Gems. Or she would be in charge of dealing with Off Colors. Or Pink’s role would have been to heal Gems who were cracked, since she had healing powers. I think Pink was also abused emotionally by White, since White is a sociopath who probably wanted to control Pink. The song, ‘Escapism’, is actually sung by Pink. Pink felt like a prisoner on Homeworld because of White, and wanted to be free from being White’s pet. This is just my theory, but what do you guys think?

I think this entire show has been leading up to a hyper-relevant analysis of both our society's (macrocosmic) and individual human (microcosmic) mental and emotional states in this time period. She is Love embodied through Attention. She is Compassion. Pink Diamond, whose gem is placed between her Solar Plexus and Sacral chakras, represents an individual's intuition. She represents the revolutionary way of thinking that we are struggling to embrace in this period of our history. She is Individual Understanding. She is Emotional Intuition. And, finally, there is White Diamond, whose gem is placed, like, at least 300 feet in the air between her Mind and Crown Chakras. Whether or not she has future vision or universal knowledge is yet to be revealed, but it has already been hinted that at some level she has intuitive logical awareness of the world around her beyond the abilities of any other gem. To sum it up briefly - She knows. She guides Homeworld with her perfect ability to know what to do next in order to do the job she was created (by whom? *shrug*) to do: maintain and expand homeworld, while maintaining order within its empire. She is, however, crumbling. Her understanding of the Universe and the Gems' place within it is unsustainably narrow and rigid. Like our societies today, she doesn't take into account the long-term implications of continuing to expand their empire forever, with no concern for other lifeforms. She doesn't take into account the needs or desires of any beings outside of her own sphere of will. She is a highly logical being, but she is so logical that she leaves no space for the agenda her logic is applied to to consider the rest of the universe. She only ever sees the system of Homeworld's expansion from the top, rather than the bottom - from the perspective of a subject interacting with objects, rather than as an individual part of the universe among an infinite set of equally meaningful individual parts. She is Universal Understanding. She is Logic. ...But, ultimately, a broken kind of logic. She is the outdated, selfish kind of logic that we can only rid ourselves of by creating a new, more complete way of seeing the world; the thing, I suspect, a fusion of all of the Diamonds would come to represent. Unconditional, Universal, Active, Rational Love.

I know this is small and insignificant but about pink diamond shape shifting into rose, if pink diamond can shape shift into rose and create a new color scheme how come the crystal gems can’t. For example in the episode where Steven turns his finger into a cat amethyst shape shifted into a cat but kept her purple color and when garnet changed into Steven in another episode she also kept her main color which was red. However when pearl shaped shifted into rose when she “shattered” pink diamond pearl had a different color scheme then her own, I’m just wondering if gems can change their color when they shape shift or if it’s only the diamonds who can do this and if thats the case then why can pearl shape shift and change her color as well?
We've seen gems wearing uniforms that shouldn't be in their palettes (famethyst) Garnet completely changed colour when she regenerated, Amethyst was able to add green to her outfit one time... I think gems can change their colours, but they have to decide/try. It'd also have limits.

I really like this theory! It brings out more complexity in Pink, allows us to sympathize with her more, gives her actions a better explanation, and is just a really cool idea! That Pink and White were sort of passively battling.

Man this video got me really thinking about how we raise our kids and where humans are heading as a species in the emotional dark age. How we relate to each other, animals, everything else on the planet. This ALL MAKES SENSE, and it’s rather a brillant way for Rebecca Sugar to bring awareness to us. I agree. I'm also thinking that escapism will either be Lapis' song or Pink Diamond's. We might see more Pink Diamond flashbacks in future episodes, but for Lapis, I'm not really sure.
I think white diamond is not a real gem. I think she's a fusion between a star and a planet. If you look at her mural she's the only one who does not show a full body. In the middle of her body is an orb that she's holding much as she seems to be holding homeworld. But backwards. This must be why she does not feel the same about gems as other gems. She's not really a gem. This accidental crash between either a small star and a big planet or vice versa is what brought her to life and from that chaos her power to control other minds had her create other gems from the life she could keep extracting from her fusion with the planet.
Kind of off topic but could still tie into this; one of my new favorite WD theories that's been floating around is that she can only see a gem's gemstone, not the physical manifestation around it, and maybe she can even visualize corruption/imperfections in gems too. That may have been a part of the reason why she had such a complete lack of reaction to Steven's form -- she could only see his gem, not the body around it. That might also open the door for Lars to come back into action, too, since he'd be good help to combat her since he wouldn't have a gem and therefore, she wouldn't be able to see him. Just food for thought.
I'm still thinking we'll get more (or at least one more) flashbacks of Pink Diamond now that Steven's on Homeworld and in a flashback we'll see Pink sing "Escapism".
Theory/Speculation: Together Alone is about Stevonnie because it’s a play on Alone Together and then Escapism is a flashback of sorts in which Stevonnie has a dream of Pink Diamonds memories like in Jungle Moon. Yellow said in Legs From Here To Homeworld that she was “sure her memories were in there somewhere”. And maybe Steven needs Connie to be able to tap into them. Idk why that might be but it sounds plausible.

I think at one point Steven is going to explode out in anger at some point while talking to White Diamond, and this would be our chaos algorithm in the show for another gem war.
The biggest issue I have with the theory that she is powering home world is the way blue spoke of her having not left in eons, and then Yellow suggesting they go there to ask her to visit. If white was unable to they would of said something like you know she can't come, instead if was implied she went leave due to being "difficult" not her being unable to.
Random thought, maybe that “seal” that pearl had that she couldn’t tell the truth to Steven was because of a mental conditioning that White Diamond had put her through, and pink accidentally ended up tapping in to that when she told her not to say anything.

I absolutely believe this was, to quote Moriarty, "the great game". And you're right - the Earth was a literal pawn in a giant game of chess that White started with Pink. I read something recently that actually added a new and compelling part to all of this - Steven is essentially in 'time out', as in, his mother's actions resulted in the consequences we've seen and Steven is now experiencing. I have said it before and I'll say it again, "if you don't want to be treated as a child, don't act as one" and that seems to be the stance the other Diamonds took. Forget about the whole, "but Pink loved earth and the humans" or "Steven loses life" blah blah and look at the bigger picture in all of this - like a child, Pink *demanded* a colony of her own without first seeing the process of colonization. And while she eventually came to realize that colonizing would mean the destruction of the native species (humans), the way she went about it (posing as Rose Quartz) was also childish, in the same way kids play pretend. Steven's constant demanding to know things he's not ready for, disregard to his OWN actions and their consequences have landed him here, to face the ultimate consequence, which hopefully will finally knock some sense into him. The only really pain point about this - which I agree with, don't get me wrong - is this whole abuse angle that everyone has jumped on. Not sure how letting Pink face plant in doing something she was clearly not ready for is abusive or how punishing her for those actions is abuse. Take the Diamonds out of it and you're looking at a typical family dynamic (which of course is ironic seeing as everyone keeps liking them to a family despite gems having NO CONCEPT of a family unit). And I'm not talking about White Pearl, but even then, this is White DIAMOND, head of the DIAMOND AUTHORITY - the same leaders who send out gems to colonize and destroy other planets to expand their empire; the same leaders who maintain and control a subservient hierarchy that surpresses individual thought and connection. Why then is it so hard to believe that OF COURSE they would treat their subjects with disdain and harsh punishment? The clues have been thrown on the road for a while now.

If White and Pink did play some kind of game maybe the last time she played the price was her pearl. The reason white took complete control over and maybe even scared her pearl was to spite pink.
I finally figured out what exactly about WD's design is so different from everyone else's (aside from how huge she is and the fact that she GLOWS). Her lips are designed differently. Characters typically had like, a line for a mouth or those three lines that gave the image of volumious lips, White's lips are... I can't even describe them. They're "detailed" I guess is the most accurate term I can give them?
Here's a theory to try on for size: Amethyst was partially shielded by the Diamond Attack, but she still got corrupted. Evidence: The colony was established 6000 years ago, with the rebellion starting shortly after the Prime Kindergarten Amethysts popped out, not including our Amethyst. According to Peridot, the exit marks on Amethyst's hole were about 500 years to late, meaning she formed roughly halfway through the "1000 year war" as it's referred to by Pearl (I think). We see in a flashback that Rose shielded Pearl and Garnet from the attack, but not Amethyst meaning the attack happened before they met her, but after she popped out. Bismuth is amazed by Amethyst's whip, stating that not all quartzes can do that, with the only other whip we see being Holly Blue Agate's, suggesting that Amethyst is more powerful than a Quartz typically is. When she reforms on the beach after Jasper poofs her, we see her form flash a bigger size before distorting and settling back down to her normal size, similar to the way Nephrite's form flashed before settling in Monster Reunion. I posit that Amethyst is corrupted, but since it didn't look like the others, nobody noticed.
I honestly want to see our pearl and white pearl have a convo and our pearl just brakes white pearl from her mind control a little bit like let another character who can also understand whites wrath come in instead if the main star. Plus i can see it be touching
I'm not sure if this has been pointed out, but the unless the episode Familliar is a typo, what pops out to me is that it'd say "Family Liar". Which would fit into the context of White and Pinks Mind game they'd been playing. Of the diamond authority being a "family of lies". Idk, just something to chew on

THIS SHOW IS ABOUT US.
I think this entire show has been leading up to a hyper-relevant analysis of both our society's (macrocosmic) and individual human (microcosmic) mental and emotional states in this time period. All four of these states are each relevant to the creation of a powerful, peaceful, and loving world, but each are also two-sided in that, when unchecked, they can each lead to dysfunction in the self and world.
Each of the Diamonds represent one of four major mental and emotional components of both a person and society, corresponding to what the placement of their gems each represent in terms of their chakras.
Yellow Diamond, whose gem is placed over her Heart Chakra, represents one side of love: an individual's active, execute approach to love. Yellow Diamond at first comes off as selfish, aggressive, and angry to us when we meet her, but as the show goes on we realize that she is just very deeply in love with and passionate about the fate of Homeworld. She takes everything LITERALLY to heart, and does everything within her power at all times to manifest the destiny of Homeworld for the better.
Sometimes she is Homeworld's greatest executive. But, when unchecked, as we saw in the episodes "The Trial" and "Reunited" (Yellow Diamond: *narrows eyes* YOU!), she can also be its most terrifyingly volatile executioner.
She is Love embodied through Action. She is Discipline.
Blue Diamond, whose gem is also placed over her Heart Chakra, represents the emotional side of love. She gets a lot of flack for being the weepiest of the Diamonds (Hey, don't come for my homegirl Blue Diamond. I'll...actually, SHE'LL fight you!), but as we come to understand her, we come to understand that she feels very deeply for the well-being of Homeworld and all its individual gems. Maybe moreso than she's been allowed to let on, under the reign of White Diamond. Her gem has everything to do with one's emotional connection to one's society and world.
She pays attention to her heart, and her powers have to do with making others do the same.
Sometimes she is Homeworld's greatest motivator (and analyst. Because her love is all-encompassing, so is her attention. We see that reflected in Sapphire's powers.). But, when unchecked, she cannot draw the boundary between her emotions and the world around her, and she becomes overwhelmed (and because her emotions are so strong that they leak out into the world around her, she in turn overwhelms everyone else).
She is Love embodied through Attention. She is Compassion.
Pink Diamond, whose gem is placed between her Solar Plexus and Sacral chakras, represents an individual's intuition. She is the most human sized and human-like Diamond. Everything about her has to do with the individual. When we first meet her, she seems selfish and childish, but as we come to understand her, we understand that she is the most in touch with her gut feelings about what she wants and needs as an individual AND how that connects to the world around her. She, unlike her fellow Diamonds, takes the time to get to know and love her subjects from an on-the-ground level. She takes the time to get to know all the individual aspects of the world she inhabits, and love those things AS THEY ARE.
Sometimes she is impulsive and selfish, but ultimately she is this show's greatest advocate for individual self-determination and self-love. When you come to understand and love yourself as you are, from inside out, you have the greatest ability to appreciate and care for the individual parts of the world around you.
She represents the revolutionary way of thinking that we are struggling to embrace in this period of our history.
She is Individual Understanding. She is Emotional Intuition.
And, finally, there is White Diamond, whose gem is placed, like, at least 300 feet in the air between her Mind and Crown Chakras. Whether or not she has future vision or universal knowledge is yet to be revealed, but it has already been hinted that at some level she has intuitive logical awareness of the world around her beyond the abilities of any other gem.
To sum it up briefly - She knows. She guides Homeworld with her perfect ability to know what to do next in order to do the job she was created (by whom? *shrug*) to do: maintain and expand homeworld, while maintaining order within its empire.
She is, however, crumbling. Her understanding of the Universe and the Gems' place within it is unsustainably narrow and rigid. Like our societies today, she doesn't take into account the long-term implications of continuing to expand their empire forever, with no concern for other lifeforms. She doesn't take into account the needs or desires of any beings outside of her own sphere of will.
She is a highly logical being, but she is so logical that she leaves no space for the agenda her logic is applied to to consider the rest of the universe. She only ever sees the system of Homeworld's expansion from the top, rather than the bottom - from the perspective of a subject interacting with objects, rather than as an individual part of the universe among an infinite set of equally meaningful individual parts.
She is Universal Understanding. She is Logic. ...But, ultimately, a broken kind of logic. She is the outdated, selfish kind of logic that we can only rid ourselves of by creating a new, more complete way of seeing the world; the thing, I suspect, a fusion of all of the Diamonds would come to represent.
Unconditional, Universal, Active, Rational Love.

I know this is small and insignificant but about pink diamond shape shifting into rose, if pink diamond can shape shift into rose and create a new color scheme how come the crystal gems can’t. For example in the episode where Steven turns his finger into a cat amethyst shape shifted into a cat but kept her purple color and when garnet changed into Steven in another episode she also kept her main color which was red. However when pearl shaped shifted into rose when she “shattered” pink diamond pearl had a different color scheme then her own, I’m just wondering if gems can change their color when they shape shift or if it’s only the diamonds who can do this and if thats the case then why can pearl shape shift and change her color as well?

We've seen gems wearing uniforms that shouldn't be in their palettes (famethyst) Garnet completely changed colour when she regenerated, Amethyst was able to add green to her outfit one time... I think gems can change their colours, but they have to decide/try. It'd also have limits.

I really like this theory! It brings out more complexity in Pink, allows us to sympathize with her more, gives her actions a better explanation, and is just a really cool idea! That Pink and White were sort of passively battling.

Man this video got me really thinking about how we raise our kids and where humans are heading as a species in the emotional dark age. How we relate to each other, animals, everything else on the planet. This ALL MAKES SENSE, and it’s rather a brillant way for Rebecca Sugar to bring awareness to us. I think white diamond is not a real gem. I think she's a fusion between a star and a planet. If you look at her mural she's the only one who does not show a full body. In the middle of her body is an orb that she's holding much as she seems to be holding homeworld. But backwards. This must be why she does not feel the same about gems as other gems. She's not really a gem. This accidental crash between either a small star and a big planet or vice versa is what brought her to life and from that chaos her power to control other minds had her create other gems from the life she could keep extracting from her fusion with the planet.
It's almost like a fight between mother and daughter and each side is dragging the siblings into it.
Kind of off topic but could still tie into this; one of my new favorite WD theories that's been floating around is that she can only see a gem's gemstone, not the physical manifestation around it, and maybe she can even visualize corruption/imperfections in gems too. That may have been a part of the reason why she had such a complete lack of reaction to Steven's form -- she could only see his gem, not the body around it. That might also open the door for Lars to come back into action, too, since he'd be good help to combat her since he wouldn't have a gem and therefore, she wouldn't be able to see him. Just food for thought.

Theory/Speculation: Together Alone is about Stevonnie because it’s a play on Alone Together and then Escapism is a flashback of sorts in which Stevonnie has a dream of Pink Diamonds memories like in Jungle Moon. Yellow said in Legs From Here To Homeworld that she was “sure her memories were in there somewhere”. And maybe Steven needs Connie to be able to tap into them. Idk why that might be but it sounds plausible.

The biggest issue I have with the theory that she is powering home world is the way blue spoke of her having not left in eons, and then Yellow suggesting they go there to ask her to visit. If white was unable to they would of said something like you know she can't come, instead if was implied she went leave due to being "difficult" not her being unable to.
Random thought, maybe that “seal” that pearl had that she couldn’t tell the truth to Steven was because of a mental conditioning that White Diamond had put her through, and pink accidentally ended up tapping in to that when she told her not to say anything.
to be honest, i think that cat steven is more hinting at white pearl, as for both have where their eyes were previously, however neither can use it, and it doesnt seem like the crewniverse to have steven out of anyone to lose an eye, though its interesting to think about

I absolutely believe this was, to quote Moriarty, "the great game". And you're right - the Earth was a literal pawn in a giant game of chess that White started with Pink. I read something recently that actually added a new and compelling part to all of this - Steven is essentially in 'time out', as in, his mother's actions resulted in the consequences we've seen and Steven is now experiencing.
I have said it before and I'll say it again, "if you don't want to be treated as a child, don't act as one" and that seems to be the stance the other Diamonds took. Forget about the whole, "but Pink loved earth and the humans" or "Steven loses life" blah blah and look at the bigger picture in all of this - like a child, Pink *demanded* a colony of her own without first seeing the process of colonization. And while she eventually came to realize that colonizing would mean the destruction of the native species (humans), the way she went about it (posing as Rose Quartz) was also childish, in the same way kids play pretend.
Steven's constant demanding to know things he's not ready for, disregard to his OWN actions and their consequences have landed him here, to face the ultimate consequence, which hopefully will finally knock some sense into him.
The only really pain point about this - which I agree with, don't get me wrong - is this whole abuse angle that everyone has jumped on. Not sure how letting Pink face plant in doing something she was clearly not ready for is abusive or how punishing her for those actions is abuse. Take the Diamonds out of it and you're looking at a typical family dynamic (which of course is ironic seeing as everyone keeps liking them to a family despite gems having NO CONCEPT of a family unit).
And I'm not talking about White Pearl, but even then, this is White DIAMOND, head of the DIAMOND AUTHORITY - the same leaders who send out gems to colonize and destroy other planets to expand their empire; the same leaders who maintain and control a subservient hierarchy that surpresses individual thought and connection. Why then is it so hard to believe that OF COURSE they would treat their subjects with disdain and harsh punishment? The clues have been thrown on the road for a while now.

I finally figured out what exactly about WD's design is so different from everyone else's (aside from how huge she is and the fact that she GLOWS).
Her lips are designed differently. Characters typically had like, a line for a mouth or those three lines that gave the image of volumious lips, White's lips are... I can't even describe them. They're "detailed" I guess is the most accurate term I can give them?
Here's a theory to try on for size:
Amethyst was partially shielded by the Diamond Attack, but she still got corrupted.
Evidence:
The colony was established 6000 years ago, with the rebellion starting shortly after the Prime Kindergarten Amethysts popped out, not including our Amethyst. According to Peridot, the exit marks on Amethyst's hole were about 500 years to late, meaning she formed roughly halfway through the "1000 year war" as it's referred to by Pearl (I think). We see in a flashback that Rose shielded Pearl and Garnet from the attack, but not Amethyst meaning the attack happened before they met her, but after she popped out. Bismuth is amazed by Amethyst's whip, stating that not all quartzes can do that, with the only other whip we see being Holly Blue Agate's, suggesting that Amethyst is more powerful than a Quartz typically is. When she reforms on the beach after Jasper poofs her, we see her form flash a bigger size before distorting and settling back down to her normal size, similar to the way Nephrite's form flashed before settling in Monster Reunion. I posit that Amethyst is corrupted, but since it didn't look like the others, nobody noticed.
Everything about White Diamond reminds me of like a mother in law that absolutely refuses to except that you married their daughter/son.

I'm not sure if this has been pointed out, but the unless the episode Familliar is a typo, what pops out to me is that it'd say "Family Liar". Which would fit into the context of White and Pinks Mind game they'd been playing. Of the diamond authority being a "family of lies". Idk, just something to chew on
