  • When first released in 1958, Duane Eddy's "Have 'Twangy' Guitar Will Travel" stayed on the pop-music charts for 82 weeks. It was the first pop album released in stereo-Jamie Records was encouraged to release the album in stereo because stereo versions of vinyl albums cost $1 more than monaural. It included Duane's first hit single, "Rebel Rouser," and four subsequent charting singles to become one of the most successful early pop-music albums of the modern rock 'n roll era.

As fans know, Duane Eddy's first album is titled "Have Twangy Guitar Will Travel" in which we find several international hits. Congratulations and greetings from Italy. czcams.com/video/VFs9RC4oO4E/video.html * CANNONBALL * (Duane Eddy - Gretsch Guitar cover)

Except it wasn't by Duane. I was never so disappointed as when I discovered that it was yet another example of Lee Hazelwood passing off an Al Casey track as being by Duane Eddy.

Disappointing, yes -but at least people are hearing the truth--that it was not Duane playing here but the great Al Casey -(same as with the flipside, Ramrod)...

lets be honest.... Casey was 10 times the guitar player Eddy was. He had more swing and way more knowledge. So it's not a bad thing, just a mislabeled thing.

@@surfercrow The original Ramrod was by Al Casey, but when there was interest shown in it Hazelwood hurriedly got Duane to re-record it, but there was no time in the session to record a B-side even if they'd had a song lined up, so he stripped Al's vocals off 'She's gotta shake', added maracas, backing vocals, bags of reverb, and told the sax player (Can't remember who) to "Play something" and there you go. Instant B-side (Almost).

@@larrywharf1583 Oh yeah, “She’s Gotta Shake” you’re right- but Lee did the same with Ramrod. There was no time to re-record, because they were out on the road. So Lee added hand-claps, hoots & hollers etc. & called it Duane’s next single. Al set the case straight in the interview for the wrecking crew bonus materials, Duane is still in denial...🙄
