  • What's It Like to Live on Marco Island Year 'Round
Marco Island is a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico off Southwest Florida, linked to the mainland by bridges south of the city of Naples. It’s home to resort hotels, beaches, marinas and golf courses, as well as a network of inland waterways. A long, sandy beach covers most of the west coast, with resort hotels in the south. Tigertail Beach Park has a tidal lagoon, popular for kayaking and paddleboarding.

I always count my blessing, and living here year-round is one of them. I know it's not for everyone. Would you like to live in a sub-tropical location during the summer?

My dream. I would love to live there. Have never eaten there, perhaps we will have to try it this year

It’s a great casual “lunch” type place. Be sure to get a Mai tai!

Thanks for featuring the island. it will be on our list of places to travel. The only drawback i can see is it's too spread out rendering it not a walkable place.
The.heat and humidity means the water is s warm;😍for swimming compared to the beaches in southern California where the water is cold. Who wants to swim in cold water.. not me.

Can I find any free parking on Marco Island? If not which lots do you recommend for parking that's not very expensive?

The one in this video, far south end just off Collier is $10, close to beach & has bathroom facilities. You can park on some of the side streets but they’ll be a longer walk. Caution: don’t park in the shop’s lots, you’ll get ticketed & maybe towed.

it is extremely touristy.. not my idea of great place to live, but visit. Also, the condo market is INFESTED with old condo that will have 5,000$ monthly CONDO FEE, RESERVE FEE, Inusrance is another $1,000/month and the residents want to all LEAVE FLORIDA. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I think that’s a bit overstated. It has tourists to be sure, but not “extremely touristy” like, for example, Ft Lauderdale, Orlando, or even Miami. The people I know don’t want to leave. $1,000+ condo fees are about right, but also the “old” condos, as you describe them, are mostly very up-to-date. Strange how the US is one of the few places who consider a 20-year-old structure to be “old” and somehow worthy of destruction. I think most people will find the beachside condos to be very modern, clean, and appealing.

Living ANYWHERE in the USA now is a horrible experience that’s why when I retired I fled the USA.

It’s pretty nice on Marco Island! If we flee we can’t change things for the better . We all become Uncle Max from The Sound of Music, who had no interest changing the current state: "You know I have no political convictions. Can I help it if other people do?"
