  • Over A year Ago I started Researching the orgins of johto, what I found blew me away. this information has never been made public by Pokemon, But As I began to dissect these games, Everything began to connect. I'ts been 20 years now, We will likely never get a definitive Answer. But this is without a doubt the closest we have come.

patreon.com/BlueBoyPhin Thank you for watching this video, it took so much out of us to create, many long nights of talking, editing, didnt sleep hardly any for the days up until we posted. This is our magnum opus of a video, and we can do it again. we are still in japan writing the script for the next video about to set off to the next location. But we desperately want to make this happen without sponsors on the videos, so we have created a patreon, where we will be sharing behind the scenes, deleted scenes from this video, and so much extra footage of our adventure's and a lot more, I have always wanted to do a patreon but i never felt like i had something to really give back but I want this to be a new era for pokemon discoveries and we are just getting started. we have so much more information im dying to share. but I want every video with to be carried with care and I want to tell these stories through our lens and give them the human effort they deserve. If you are in the place where you can comfortably support these future videos, we would love to bring more to you. Thank you regardless for watching this. it really was made by 2 people giving it their true hard work and love.

This video made me cry. It gave me some closure. I still remember pokemon mania at its prime. I still remember watching the very first episode of the cartoon. All that I can vividly remember is the AMAZING opening, and the shot of ho-oh (then a total mystery) flying away. That scene stuck with me for over 20 years. And this video made that memory hit me like a truck.

I used to live on Awaji Island, the real life equivalent to Johto's Whirl Islands. The island divides the Seto Inland Sea from the Pacific Ocean. The inland sea has a slightly higher water level than the Pacific, which creates perpetual whirlpools where the two meet. They have short boat tours where you can see them up close.
The island's most famous deities are Izanagi and Izanami. The legend goes that Izanagi, from the heavens, dipped his spear into the waters and whirled them up, and when he pulled it out, the crystallized droplets that fell became the islands of Japan. For that reason, Awaji Island is considered to be the origin island, and there is a famous shrine to Izanagi located there.
It's a really cool place and worth spending a day or two there if you take a trip to Japan.

Geologist checking in here. First things first, I just want to say this was a really awesome video. Pokemon Silver is my favorite video game and it’s so cool to hear about the real world places that inspired it. Nice job! I can also help clarify a few things.
    (1) At 00:00:31 you meant geographically not geologically.
    (2) The stone markings you start showing around 00:22:25 are most definitely naturally occurring. The dark parts are mafic inclusions (also called mafic enclaves or xenoliths) set in a lighter colored granitic stone block. Basically the darker parts are pieces of older rocks into which a lighter colored and younger granitic rock intruded as a magma. The magma mixed and melted away most of the older dark rock, but the dark pieces here remained cool and relatively intact during the magma mixing. Then it all cooled together underground and was eventually cut into the blocks you see now. A lot of them are so wiggly and flown looking because they were super hot and ductile when they formed and got pushed around and smeared by the magma. It is the energy of the earth!

All my life, Johto felt more like home than any place I've lived. I yearned to escape to it every chance I got. As I explored my desire to write stories, I explored Johto more with fanfiction. When I look up picture of enclaves they don't have the "movement" described in the video, if they are only formed by two sources of magma in liquid state coming together and the pictures are of slow moving magma (since the pictures show unmoving blobs) then these stones are likely from an actual eruption.

    • @llamaMonstA
      @llamaMonstA Před 28 dny +22

@@onlyme0349 Enclave is a very general term that includes many types like schlieren, xenoliths, autoliths, restites, and more. I at first thought it might be an ignimbrite or fiamme, but you can clearly see the equigranular nature of the granodiorite or tonalite host rock and melt rims around the enclaves (at 22:32). Further, you can see the dark inclusions are highly foilated in the various images. However the enclave intermingling (at 22:34) is what finally convinced me. They are likely xenoliths, specifically stoped blocks of country rock schist that fell into the magma and were deformed either during emplacement or through later metamorphism.

I was 8 years old when I first started exploring the Ruins of Alph. I remember people being shocked when I told them (people) I could read Unown, and I remember feeling how...real this place had felt to me. Even now 20 years after the fact.
Hearing this justified a large amount of feelings that had never been understood or acknowledged by others. The kids and adults around those real life ruins no doubt have lived their whole lives feeling the same thing for different reasons. That's what makes this all so special. Game Freak wanted us to know that feeling, to understand and be curious, and feel alive as you look at Unown and pursue the bigger picture of life and its meanings. You might not find an answer, but you do find something just as, if not even more profound and fulfilling trying.

The fact that the remakes came out for Gen 4 is honestly a huge deal in how they parallel thematically (and the secret with Arceus and the Shinjo ruins was also PEAK). Give, Help, Keep, Find, Join, Chase, Engage, Increase, Direct, Bear, Want, Undo, Search, Angry, Vanish, Laugh, Nuzzle, Tell, Observe, Reassure, Zoom, XXXXX, Perform, Quicken, Yield, and Make.
No idea what any of it's about but damn was it a blast being a "researcher" in-game and irl like that, I was so excited to get to each point so I could go back to the Ruins and explore them more. The mystery and wildness of life is unspeakable in so many ways, but you did a great job verbalizing it here man.

You know, thinking about those words in regard to the two warring clans of Asuka as well as the implication that the unown writing comes from the descendants of the kimono girls it makes me think that these are just indicators of human existence 1500 years ago. Words surrounding conflict, joy, work, emotions, everything that just being a human entailed (and still entails, generally). Each of those words could've told a story had we more context.

I've watched every upload of yours for years, but this takes the cake by far. Well done, from the narrative and footage to the editing and ambiance

25:15 “There are real human intentions that brought this into existence.”
There’s something I’ve never considered so beautifully human. Not just the sharing of knowledge, but the sharing of mystery. The people who built those ancient structures and those finding out about them for themselves today, though almost entirely disconnected, are effectively telling a brand new story.
That Solaceon Ruins tablet from Sinnoh was right: “When every life meets another life, something will be born.” We humans just can’t stop being intrigued.
