In celebration of the 40th anniversary of their widely celebrated album ‘Agents of Fortune’, Blue Öyster Cult performed the seminal album in its glorious entirety at an exclusive concert for the Audience Music Network on Monday April 18, 2016 at Red Studios in Hollywood, CA in front of an intimate audience of invited guests. The performance was recorded by an army of cameramen for a DirectTV special, that is now being released on CD/DVD, Blu-Ray, and Vinyl via Frontiers Music Srl.
The intense creative vision of BÖC’s original core duo of vocalist and lead guitarist Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser, and vocalist and rhythm guitarist Eric Bloom are complemented by Richie Castellano on guitar and keyboards, and the longtime rhythm section comprised of bass guitarist Kasim Sulton, and drummer Jules Radino. As a special guest, founding member Albert Bouchard appears on guitar, percussion, and vocals on selected tracks, which was a real treat for longtime fans of the band.
Blue Öyster Cult's fourth album, "Agents Of Fortune" was originally released in 1976 and went on to achieve platinum sales status on the strength of songs such as "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," which was easily the band's biggest hit. Tinged with a more commercial sound that preserves the band's heavy metal base, while exploring new and varied musical forms, "Agents of Fortune” was the band’s breakthrough album. Nothing they had produced previously prepared listeners for the level of sophistication the group found on "Agents of Fortune" and it's both an essential document of the band and an iconic release of '70s rock in general.
Frontiers will also reissue "Heaven Forbid", the band's thirteenth studio album, in all territories outside North and South America. Originally released on March 24, 1998 in Europe, it was the band's first full studio album containing original material since 1988's “Imaginos”. Science fiction author John Shirley contributed heavily to the album, writing lyrics for all except two original songs. A live version of the track "In Thee" was included as well. “Heaven Forbid” is one classy slab of hard rock featuring intricate arrangements, provocative lyrics, and spine-tingling guitar solos. The rockers sound in top form on this full blown (at the time) return album, whether on the thrash-y and menacing opener, “See You in Black”, the sci-fi epic “X-Ray Eyes”, or the mythical and atmospheric “Harvest Moon”.

Who else has a big smile on their face watching this! Love it!!!!
Yup,and they're having a good time playing as well.
I waited for years for somebody to post this. Damn. Time flies.
Dancing to this at 8 am while watching it 😃💙
Absolutely 💯
I sure as hell do. Love me some BOC!!!
Blue Oyster Cult has always been one of the greatest bands ever
It's a thick and heavy sound, but believe me, it's pretty "greasy." Lots of EFX designed to thicken the sound and enhance the tone. He's a GREAT guitarist without all the toys, and he doesn't need to prove anything. I love the Steinberger "Swiss cheese" guitar.
For me, BOC is the best
Uck, Eric and also the “nee” band members are first class have been a BOC for 50 years now
Car lights filling window panes an endless shadow bars
@xtc1957. Buck calls this guitar his “Cheeseberger”.
Buck Darma is so underrated. a true bad ass !!!!
Buck isn't underrated
He's certainly an enigma. And one to be shared with as many young up and coming guitarists as possible!
An underrated guitarist, certainly a great songwriter, and he does what a great guitarist would do… He plays outside the envelope, and is very inventive all the while.
On second thought, I believe he does receive a lot of respect from his fellow musicians, I’ll say one thing for him… He’s a little guy that packs a big wallop!
BOC is playing this right in the pocket. How they are not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is beyond me.
It's simple...the HoF is a fraud.
@@msh6865 Yeah,I don't get why many people are so concerned about that shitty ass HOF,it's a joke.
@@antonioecheverria2727 It's all politics. Nothing to do with talent.
The R and R Hall of Fame is a joke. Whitney Houston is in the HOF but BOC is not. A joke....a bad one.
You probably dont care but if you guys are bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my brother for the last few days :)
I can't think of another band that's been together for over 50 years and still sounds this good. Just incredible really.
Best American band ever, together with Mountain... and none of them are in the rock and roll hall of fame.
My first concert. 1972. My favorite band. Black Sabbath. I was 12. On the way to the show there was an ad on the radio about it, and they named the opening act. Blue Oyster what?! I thought? What a lousy name!! I bet they're going to suck!
That's what I thought anyway. Within 2 hours I had switched camps. Blue Oyster Cult were amazing to say the least, and this was before the Lasers. Sabbath by comparison were boring, and literally putting people to sleep. My first concert, and I witness an opening act destroy the Headliner. The next day I rode my Stingray bicycle 3 miles up to Drug Fair, and purchased Tyranny, and Mutation. Best $4.98 I ever spent. In all the years since, I've seen them numerous times, and have met Buck twice. That night they became my favorite band, and they have been ever since.
BOC didnt open for Sabbath in 1972
@@DoomMetalSludge Yes, they fucking did.
@@DoomMetalSludge Richmond Coliseum.
@@DoomMetalSludge Let me look up Sabbaths tour schedule just to prove another Moron wrong.
@@DoomMetalSludge Here ya go Dipshit. July 25, 1972 Richmond Coliseum, Richmond, VA (supported by Blue Oyster Cult) The funny thing is this. When I met Buck in '84 in a club, as they went under the Soft White Underbelly name, I asked him about that concert, and he said he remembered it.
It's a crime these guys are (still) not in the R&RHOF!
It's fine, they probably have 20 more gangsta rappers whom nobody ever heard of to induct ahead of them. Diversity, I guess.
The tone Buck Dharma gets from his guitar is incredible. What a killer solo!!
Kasim Sultan one of the best bass players alive!! Not to mention a unbelievable singer!
One of my favorite BOC songs.
I can't get enough of that first guitar riff right before the vocals come in, just perfect
E
.
Same here
One of my favorite BOC songs. Underrated group should be in the Rock n Roll HOF
A shame not played on radio today!
After 3 :41 jump back to 0:09 . Problem solved 👍
Now that's TALENT! All live, no lip syncing, no cheesy acting, killer harmonies, even the lead vocalist playing keys right there at the end! I want more!!!
Excellent.... BOC is such a great band
40 plus years and still kicking ass!
Woo Hoo!
Great work, Richie!
You guys sound great together. The whole band does. You've must have picked up tips from Buck along the way and Buck from you i'm sure.
This is one of the best live performances I have seen of this song !!!!
This ROCKS!!!
Knocked out of the park Richie!
After playing guitar for 47 years, I'm "auditioning" for a new band tomorrow night. This is one of the songs they picked for me to perform. I have known of BOC sing the 70's, but never performed any of their music. Buck Dharma has a unique lead style. Wails, and does some stops. After listening to the studio version, and some live versions, to ME, this is the best sounding version of the song. 10/10, will listen to again.
Yup, it's still there, didn't go anywhere, BOC still has it's charm and magic. Can't wait for the new album, for sure not only me. We are all "hungry boys" ;)
Oh yes! The Symbol Remains!
They are in MY Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I SO AGREE 👍🏻
I think that the next golden record we send out into the cosmos should be BÖC's greatest hits.
I love this live version.
One of my fave BOC tracks
This is my youth.
BOC fan since 1982 this song is a great jam, love it! RIP Allen Lanier.
Kasim Sultan is off the charts!
None better than Buck Dharma...
Tight AF! These guys don't play in the pocket, they ARE the pocket!
Agree!!
I SAW B.O.C at Six Flags Over Texas back in 1981 and hete it was 2021 and bet they still ROCK in 2024!
timeless music. This song will still be played after we're gone. It will be someone else's favorite.
Esatto. Bravo.👍
Well, that could be said for alot of songs.
that's absolutely correct. If someone asked me my favorite song I wouldn't have an answer. there are many favorites @@russellmarsden6316
One of the great bass riffs of our time right here...
when i was in germany in 82-86 we of course didn't have radios in the patrol cars (was a military policeman) so was had a "boom box" that played cassettes and we played extraterrestrial live so much we burned out the tape and had to buy another one....nothing like pulling up to a call and dominance and submission is BLASTING from the car!! lol great fucking times!!
This sounds better then on the album
So tight and good. That guitar tone is out of this world. Might I say alien? 🤔🤫
Just saw them in Atlanta. UFO was supposed to open but someone had gotten sick. So BOC came on and played TWO sets! Got to hear The Vigil, Teen Archer, Shooting Shark, Black Blade! Their new album is the only new music I'm looking forward to this year 😁
Would have loved have been there
Dude have you checked out the 3 new videos?
@@elfman5176 2 so far, hoping for the third one today. Saw Albert's ReImaginos song and really enjoyed it
They played Teen Archer?!? I’ve always wanted to hear that live. I’ve seen them three times and each time some fans would yell out Teen Archer after they got done a song. Also, two sets? Damn that must of been glorious.
Lucky!
I was at that show too! Incredible night!
This whole show was so good, and that mix is fantastic.
These guys are so good. Don’t know of ANY bands that play at the level they do 50 years on
The talent on that stage is phenomenal. Kasim Sultan, Eric Bloom, Buck!! Damn I love these videos.
One of the coolest, best jamming riffs and chorus ever.
10 years old when I first heard this song. Lead me into playing guitar. Playing in metal band in "89" had the honor of opening up for them at " Note for Note" in Dayton Ohio. Most gracious band us nobody's ever shared the stage with. Truly the most humbling highlight in my life.
That’s really Awesome
Man, these guys haven't lost a thing since I started listening to them back in the `70's. Buck's guitar sounds better than ever, Eric's vocals are still terrific. Keep on rockin' guys!
Their old Tunes are great their new Tunes are great the symbol remains
Greatest Band of All Time.
Oh my god BÖC still sounds absolutely amazing. The vocal harmonies are flawless. The music ageless. 🙂👍❤️
Like fine wine they get better with age
Good to see Richie Castellano of Band Geek youtube channel on this, he really is a great musician and has been recognized by many as such !
Richie is a monster musician. So great that he'll be on the new album. We'll always miss you, Allen. Rock on in eternity!
Yeah man, I like all those geek covers he does.
He's been with BÖC for several t=years now!
Really, it's pretty pathetic you don't mention BOC and only mention Ritchie because you're a millennial who lives life online.
@@raywood1801 Hey dickbag, what's really pathetic is you judge someone from a simple comment. If i wasnt a fan of BOC, why would i be here ? You need to fucking check your attitude and get adjusted to reality dopehead !
My favorite band ever. Saw them in 84 on Revolution by Night in Nashville with Aldo Nova and Accept. Simply the best
Richie Castellano workin' ! AWESOME!
This was really tight!!
That main riff is one of the best riffs in rock n roll history
Great to see & hear them still rocking so strong -- BÖC forever.
ALL PRAISE BLUE ÖYSTER CULT!!!
Wow! Wow! Wow! What a great song! I am LOVING this!!! 🙂
Alive and kicking. Wow, they do not look in their 70s.
Just saw them last night! They are still fantastic. In the pocket is an under statement. They are all great musicians. Total joy to watch.
six days and counting...I got great seats...I am excited.
They ROCK and Shooting Shark has been a all time favorite since the '70s.
As ALWAYS< this lineup does NOT disappoint. In constant awe. Eric. ERIC. Dude, save us all, buy the Mets.
They still got it after all those years. Even Buck Dharma never lost his skills
Awesome!!!!!! Been a fan of BOC since late '81
BOC songs like this, I still find myself bobbing my head/neck in time like Buck does.
Can't help it. Soooo much funk in that riff!
Still Awesome! Timeless Music!
One of my top 10 proto metal songs from the 70s.
What a cool ass tune. BOC delivers brother!!
So glad to see and hear ol' BÖC! Sounds really good. Now my quarantine feels much easier. I can watch this over and over...
Their laser show was something to behold. Most amazing light show ever and of course the music was great also. These guys know how to rock.
Wow haven't heard this in decades!
BOC having a Great Comeback
New Album The Symbol Remains
Great new music on CZcams
I just saw them do this classic on Feb 9 near DC. It was ULTRA tight!
When these guys sing together as one they sound so harmonious...beautiful.
Damn nice job here. They seem revived over even previous years. Kickass shit. So good to see.
Why on earth has no one questioned, why BOC on their very own classic song, (Cut off the og bridge and breakdown at the end when all 3 guitarist, (including Eric on his signature symbol guitar?!) all come out jamming at the end, like on the og Some Enchanted Evening, and og ETI Live?!!
I can't even believe this is a live recording, the chorus and everything sounds as fresh and note-for-note as it did 46 years ago
Welcome into the Frontiers Music's time machine - next stop BÖC's E.T.I..
2nd best album of all times and the whole universe!!!!!!
You can’t touch these guys. So damn good. Been trying to emulate the solo and my fingers decided to pack and leave my hand.
Absolutely love this song. Great-sounding mix, too.
These guys are so dang good man!
This is outstanding!
BOC rules!
Buck's hair hat is looking first rate , great fitment and color matching.
Greatest American Rock and Roll Band
Close. Cheap Trick first but BOC probably 2nd
Awesome Thanks BOC !!
Thankyou Blue Oyster Cult For Helping Me See The Light Thru My Own Darkness. Eternal Thankyou’s ! 💗👁💗
Blue Oyster Cult forever!
I was really hoping to hear that UFO taking off type sound haha. Man I love that part of ETI
I know The Reaper is their #1 hit, and then Godzilla. But E.T.I. is my favorite BOC tune.
Mine as well, plus Vera Gemini!
One of their best songs. Band Geek frontman Richie Castellano, and Utopia Bass man Kasem Sulton. The best sound I've heard.
Great song and video! Awesome to see Richie and Kasim too!
Best Hard Rock Band - Ever
They still got it! Amazing!!
Classic BOC......... amazing as always! 🎸🤘🏻
Awesome performance. I built myself a copy of a very expensive pedal just so I could get the tone of the intro from the record, and I love the riffs.
Awesome tune, awesome band!
Really nice to see this band with a proper sound mix going. Phone videos for the past several years have done them no justice. Previous comment is right on the money--totally in the pocket
I've come to the conclusion that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame doesn't deserve BOC. They're too good!
Bloom gets my vote for "least likely to be stopped on the street and recognized as a rockstar".
Rock On!!!
Love it - Been rock'n BÖC concerts since my teen years - 1970's - They are still kicking ass... Thank You & Cheers from Seattle! (it's always been a dream to have Buck Dharma play guitar on one of my songs....I can always dream!!) Alex
So bad-assed. Happy holidays, everyone.
saw em live 3 times... once in Augusta Maine... they rocked the house playing some Steppenwolf as well... it was awesome and i will never forget that show...
Sounds and looks great! Ha cha!
Waouh!!!!!!!!! Buck' new solos !!!!!! Fantastic !!!!! (Like always...)
This is the song that got me into BOC back in the '70s
Terrific harmonies after all the years. Just wonderful.
