Hey everyone! Today I want to break down 5 easy ways to help you shoot a lacrosse ball better and faster. These tips include:
1. Holding the lacrosse stick looser - when you grip the lacrosse stick too tight, you don't generate a lot of power. That's because your wrist joints get tight and you lose flexibility.
2. Bringing your hands further back on the lacrosse stick - a lacrosse shot is like a lever. The longer the lever is, the more leverage it has. Same thing in lacrosse. Keep your hands back.
3. Developing a strong core - your core is critical in your lacrosse shot. This includes your legs, back and abs. Planks are a super easy way to develop a stronger core.
4. Picking the right release point for your lacrosse shot - this is the angle in which you shoot. I like to think of a lacrosse shot like a clock, and the best way to angle your stick is pointing it at 1:30 on a clock, or a three quarters release.
5. Following through after you shoot the lacrosse ball - you should shoot the ball so hard that your back faces the cage because you're completely turned around.
+ 3 Bonus Tips for a faster lacrosse shot!
1. The form of a lacrosse shot is similar to a baseball swing or golf swing. Study the form of other great baseball players and golfers to help you with your shot.
2. Everyone has a different shooting form. Don't stress too much if yours isn't exactly like someone else's.
3. Film yourself with a tripod and a smartphone. This is the easiest way to see if you're doing things right without a coach around. - Sport

I did!!!
I swear this sport should be way more popular
If this isn’t true I don’t know what is
The issue is it requires expensive sticks and whatnot compared to other sports you just need a ball and some friends
It’s expensive and has a big skill gap so it will take some time but it might be soon
@@Ahern414 true
Patience bro patience. It’ll happen soon
You are a reason that a ton of kids will be improving their game and falling in love with the sport, keep it up man!
should i tryout for lacrosse? i never played it before but it looks really fun, i don’t want to get embarrased
@@mxstardd5391 what grade are you in?
@@guap__884 8th going to 9th
@@mxstardd5391 yeah I would start to practice over summer
@@mxstardd5391 and play for your highschool team if you have one
How dont you have 1 million subs, your content is great
After trying these I went to shoot and my shot is feeling a lot faster. Thanks for this
The addition thing is you have to get in reps the move you practice the better. When doing shooting practice move the goal to a place where there is some kind of a back stop. If you have to chase the ball after each shoot you miss you will stop going all out on the shoot and follow thru.
Wow I’m from Pennsylvania and you have all penn states clips but thanks for the tips they helped me out
Thanks you so much I have been doing crutches as my core work out but I’m going to try core out
Thanks for the great videos Jake
Can you break down Tre Leclaire's (Ohio State) Step Down Shot?
Very helpful keep up the good work
only been watching for a week but can defeintly see improvements
Than you so much, much love man!!!
Thanks for the tips if really helps alot
Thx so much
YES
YEEAAHHHHH DU MY HOME TEAM!!!!!
I just had my first lacrosse practice yesterday as a freshman in highschool and although I think I did decent for my first day the sport seems so fun and worth the learning curve
Nice! I would recommend working at home on stick skills, and work on learning how to dodge bc it’s different than you may think at first, practice the drill by pushing off your feet and working on explosive force
Thanks
Great overall, but on the topic of core, medicine balls are the way to go with lacrosse! They train to start the power in the legs and transfer some it to the core, and get that rotational power developed.
I’ve just recently got into the sport and is learning how to play and this helps me a lot. I’m a sophomore grinding to make it to my school team in the spring. If you have any tips comment down below pls
legs are the power, wrists are the precision and they both effect each other, its one long chain of cause and effect thru your whole body
Yes
I’m a lefty and one u said 1:30
I was like god dang boy how am I suppose to do that and then i realize he prob talking about righties
Great vdeo. Thank u
Glad you liked it Harrison! Let me know if you have any suggestions
Lax Weekly how about a video about how to properly pick and roll in lax
@@harrisonkalmar335 Great ide!
Lax Weekly no problem sir. U just keep making that A1 content
Keep it up
Thank ya. My apologies for not posting as much - trying to balance a full school schedule. Should be back to regular posts now. Always let me know if there's anything else you want to see
Lax Weekly could you make a video on how to get over getting hit on gbs. I have just started lacrosse this school year and made our junior varsity team. My stick skills are in good condition but whenever there is a ground ball between me and a big defender (I’m only 5”1) I tend to shy away from contact and I get so mad at myself and I want to get over it. If you can’t make a video could you at least give a tip? I know your schedule is busy. Thanks!
@@vuto8089 Sure! I definitely want to make a video about gb's, so i'll put that on my list!
My shot went from like 78 to 90 because of this, thank you!
I used to do plank in camp a lot and i was jacked
Yup
yo does anyone have a good travel team idea for a 13 year old in DE or Maryland
Just started playing and I’m having trouble holding onto the ball right before shooting on the run. Any tips?
cradle more and harder to sink the ball deep, also make sure your shooting strings are tight enough to hold the ball in your pocket with enough whip
When ever you are running always carry your stick and a ball in your stick. soon you will stop thinking about the ball but you will be one with the ball. the other tip is when playing catch move. even if it is a step or two.
how’s the progress
Ya

That's facts
Lax Weekly Loved the video! Can you do a video on Tre Leclaire’s shooting form, like a break down. I think that would be a pretty cool video! Thank you!
I don't think static plank excercises will help you much, sure it's a start but going for some rotational excercises will be much better.

Some of these tips A1 coach’s don’t say thank you for the help
hi
quick release and accuracy is more important than a fast ball!
All of the shots were lefty??? Correct me if I’m wrong
The videos is mirrored they were right handed shots
Good vid but planks are actually not that great for training your core bc its a static hold, 3/10 exercise
Idk why but it bothered me that like all of the shots were left handed
I us
Me watching the plank part me being able to do a plank for over a hour
Yeah, traditional planks are heavily overrated.
Everyshot in the vid was lefty
Zoom
why not show clips of what you're talking about when you talking about it? "Best arm positions is 1:30" then on the video you have a guy shooing a low side-arm bouncer
The witty pigeon physically obey because tuba intrahepatically mourn beyond a fast education. knowledgeable, hurried pin
