I was an atheist when I began watching this show with my wife. She thought it looked interesting. After episode 2 I thought "Didn't Mathew write a book?" And because I enjoyed Mathew's character I began reading that gospel.
Months later I now consider myself a devout Christian who reads the Bible every day.

    • @dm-gq5uj
      @dm-gq5uj Před 2 lety +19

Acts would make a great series. Paul's conversion, the debates about following Jewish law, the shipwreck, even the guy who fell asleep and fell out of the window when Paul was preaching. (When I've listened to pastors who are a bit long-winded, I always think of that guy :)

That would be wonderful. Even the chosen series inspiring other evangelical writers/producers to create a series on the acts of the apostles would be welcomed, refreshing, & inspiring. Hollywood shouldn't corner the market on "video storytelling." We need more films/series to motivate people to investigate the Bible for themselves. In a world where media is available to so many, why not utilize that venue for reaching lost souls.

You need to listen carefully to what Dallas has the character playing Jesus say to Nicodemus when he falls down at his feet. He says; “You don’t have to do that. What are you doing?”
I believe that this is completely heretical. In the Bible Jesus never refused worship. Remember Thomas saying when he saw Jesus after He had risen from the dead, My Lord and my God. John chapter 20:28. My goodness, Jesus was crucified because the Jewish leaders said that He made Himself equal with God! If Dallas was so concerned about representing Jesus properly he would not had written those words into the script!

« Avoid religious tradition » and yet celebrating Christmas full blast when Yeshua was born on Sukkot and that 25th of December is the feast of Tamouz, Baal … Honestly I like the show but I feel like they miss the goal when they try so hard to show the true Hebraic messiah and then practice the lawless Jesus on the set with all the « worshippers » of the Sun-day.
This makes the whole contradiction fit in peoples mind. They still think that worshipping in the way the pagans do is fine with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Yeshoua would come and scatter that crowd and indeed do TROUBLE.

@@thehourislate777 there is NO actual date of when Yeshua was born. Kind of have a feeling he doesn't want people to know his birthday. We technically should be celebrating his birth and death everyday. Yeshua is all love. He knows the heart. If you are celebrating the day as Yeshua's birthday than great. Since there is no way anyone knows let them have a day. God is not going to send you to hell for a tree in the house. If a relationship with Yeshua is there, than you would know it's all about the heart.

We all deserve to go to hell because we have sinned. But God loved us and gave us His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross in our place to pay the punishment of all of our sins for us when he died on the cross. Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and yet God the Son also. God the Father (God)has raised Jesus his son from the dead. JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!!!! Repent of your sins, and believe in who Jesus is and what He did for you and that God the Father has raised Him from the dead and you WILL BE SAVED FROM THE LAKE OF FIRE(hell).

The works-based salvation and the Christ of the LDS church NOT being the eternal God who created all things means there is an infinite gulf between you and the body of Christ. No matter what you do, someone will have a problem with it, and have no problem telling you, in the harshest of words, the “evil” you are guilty of. My advice to Pastors and for anyone working and living for the Lord is, you can’t please everyone, and that’s okay. Just be faithful to the One.

For years, I have felt grieved by the attitudes and foolishness of some Christians who are often the most passionate about the word of God. There seems to be this tendency (particularly amongst conservative evangelicals) to exude a harsh and judgmental demeanor when it comes to areas where Christians disagree. I have been learning to focus only on what God says and thinks lately in my life. Its SUCH a relief when you live to please only ONE: The Lord Jesus. I have noticed that every Mormon commenting on this video goes to great lengths to say the very long-winded, "I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." Whew! What a mouthful! Why not just say the much simpler, "I'm a Mormon." Who do you really think you're fooling? You do know that people can research this stuff at the tap of a finger now, right? Mormonism and the LDS Church are interchangeable terms. To say otherwise demonstrates either complete ignorance of the history of the Mormon religion or rank deception. Those terms (i.e., "Mormon" or "LDS" or "Mormonism" or "Latter-Day Saints," etc.) all represent the exact same Christ-denying religion/cult founded by the mountebank Joseph Smith. If you are a Mormon (or, if you prefer, "a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" . . . whew!), then I urge you to repent and place your trust exclusively in the *true Christ* of Scripture and history. His *finished* work of redemption (i.e., His perfect life and fulfillment of ALL of God's laws; His substitutionary, propitiatory death on the Cross; and His bodily resurrection) constitute the *only* way anyone can be reconciled to God. The Mormons'/LDS's false gospel of works leads only to eternal separation from God. I urge you to study the Bible (not the one corrupted by Joseph Smith, but a legitimate Bible, such as the NASB or the NKJV or the ESV) and compare and contrast what it teaches versus the doctrines taught by Mormon presidents/prophets, Doctrine and Covenants, the Book of Mormon, and The Pearl of Great Price. Then follow the truth where it leads.

Just a word of encouragement.....let's not sit or go about our day as if we're waiting for some song series etc. to draw us closer or get excited to read God's Word........let's place the pressure on ourselves a bit more and be good students - study God's Word when we don't feel like it, pray when we don't feel like it........it requires effort on our part.....iron sharpens iron and is not always criticism we are to stir it Up in one another when we fell jaded to God's Word pray and ask the Father for a mindset to go pick up our cross and follow Him by doing the things we don't feel like doing esp when it comes to studying His Word. Also, just like learning, we all have different styles of learning. Some are tactile and some are repetitive some can learn simply by listening. A visual connection that normalizes the ‘saints’ helps some to become more Interested because they feel they can relate. I’m praying that you see that not only is it great to be disciplined like the scholars but many more people may be coming to their own in seeing this. If it creates more disciples then it is good in God’s eyes. He uses many different people to do his will, that may have otherwise be sidelined.

My point is if you're going to depict Bible stories as a 'Believer' it's best and safe to be accurate. There are accurate accounts of Bible story films for visual learners. It's good to get excited about God's Word and reading it but if something external only gets us excited about it wow....ask for the desire first to study it, get yourself a good study Bible I read the John MacArthur Study Bible with loads of info, find another believer could be your spouse a friend a family member and share what you've learned.....All other films based on a real life story 'non biblical ones' all have add-ins to make it more appealing I'm sure. But the truth is many of us cannot spend 20 mins a day reading God's Word.....I mean He is God anything we ask Him according to His Will He will give....if we have a difficult time with distractions meta Instagram etc. studying it for ourselves can't we ask Him for His help and He help us gladly....we put the effort in our jobs so why not His Word, but we need to truly want to its the only way to move toward that direction...

My wife and I have been so grateful for the love of Jesus Christ that The Chosen brings into our home! As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this show has emphasized to me that we as Christians are united in our love for the Savior. At this time when the message of the good news is SO needed across the world, I want to add my voice to those calling for unity, kindness, and respect. A house divided against itself cannot stand, AND the world knows of our dicipleship, as Christ said, by our love one for another. Thank you The Chosen for being an ambassador for faith!

Mormons teach a similar but different doctrine called the God Head.
Christians don't believe in modern day prophets.
Mormons teach that their president of the Church is a prophet.
Christians teach that Mary the mother of Jesus was a virgin her whole life.
      Mormons have no such doctrine.
Christians believe that the Eucharist is the literal body and blood of Jesus.
Mormons think that it just represents his body and blood.

      Christians don't.
Mormons believe in three levels of Heaven.
      Christians teach there's just one.
Christians believe that God is the creator of the universe.
Mormons believe that God used to be a human, and was elevated to godhood after he died.
Mormons believe that men can become gods after they die. This is called exaltation.
Christians view this as a heresy.
Mormons believe that God has a physical body that you could touch just like a human.
Christians believe that God is a spirit.
Mormons believe that there are other gods, but they don't worship them.
      Christians believe in one god.
Mormons reject Song of Solomon as divinely inspired scripture, but they still keep it in the Bible.
Christians believe all the books of the Old Testament are divinely inspired.
Christians believe the Deuterocanonical Books are divinely scripture. (Tobit, Judith, Baruch, Wisdom, Sirach, 1 Maccabees, and 2 Maccabees)
      Mormons don't.

@@adspie after living all over the world and around many different believers, I have learned that Russian Orthodox Christians have icons, Pentacostals are adament about the importance of gifts of the spirit, Catholics have a special place for mother Mary and do baptism by sprinkling, while Baptists have specific beliefs about the mode and importance of baptism and these are just a few of the differences. I have met many wonderful Christians who love Christ, many people who believe in the Bible as the word of God, and many people who let the love of Jesus Christ direct their life. And, as I talked with these wonderful Christians, I have learned they often disagree with each other about matters of doctrine. HOWEVER, the thing that Christ-ians have in common is there unity in loving and trying to serve Jesus Christ. I would simply re-emphasize that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have a strong belief in Jesus Christ and He is at the center of everything we believe. Again, it was Christ who said a house divided cannot stand and I simply repeat my call for Christians to stand united in bearing testimony of Christ to the world. It brings us all together how? I only ask this because this show doesn't change the fact that The Book of Mormon makes a different truth claim than that of the Bible. The Bible says that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The official position that Mormons hold is that Jesus is not actually God, but is only the first creation of God. Either Mormons are right, Christians or right, or neither are right. If you don't believe that the Bible alone is God's completed Word then you are being deceived (by a man who lived in the 1800s and claimed that not only was the Bible incorrectly translated, which is clearly not true, but also that he needed to add to it because he had been given special revelation). The Bible says that salvation is by grace through faith alone. Call upon the name of the Lord and you will be saved. I mean no disrespect to you, but I cannot bear to look at comments like yours and pretend it doesn't bother me to see people deceived.

Update on 19/12/21: In response to some comments below, I'm not an atheist, as I do not reject the possibility that God exists. In fact, I am a very spiritual person. I just don't know which, if any or if all religions are correct. I am open to the possibility that some or all of the Bible stories are true, but I don't think stories written in a thousands of years old book is irrefutable evidence of their veracity. So, I'm not religious. We are One World (One Cosmos even) and I see the wisdom in 'Love One Another' (John 13:34). I disagree that there is something wrong with a Christian show reaching a much wider audience. Rather, there is something very RIGHT about a spiritual based show that has the underlying message of love and kindness towards one another which reaches and moves everyone, and not just a select few who adhere to one particular interpretation of the Bible.

@@pagandeva2000 How did you come to paganism?

    • @pagandeva2000

@@BlueEagle-yk6dg hello, thanks for asking. As a child, I never saw the Bible as an accurate source of history or of God’s word, and as I grew up and read more, such as the Apocrypha, pseudiopigraphia, Dead Sea Scrolls, and such, I doubled down on that feeling. Funny enough, I always believed that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, but I also placed the Virgin Mary in power. I feel that paganism better represented my beliefs, especially because of the empowerment of women. On a personal level, I have never worshipped the gods and goddesses that many pagans do. I believe in One Source that designated charge energies over various things such as water, plants, air, etc….
I do not judge anyone for any belief (or lack of). I try to understand how people come to their personal conclusions, but I don’t believe in talking people out of anything.
Religion, to me is man made and can be subject to that man’s interests and intentions, which appears to be why there are so many divisions now in ALL of them…Christianity, Judaism, Muslim, Paganism and otherwise. So, I follow no one spiritually, I do what works for me.

Dallas, I can speak for my family and we love The Chosen. It has brought our family together in the living room and drawn the interest of my teenagers (that's a big deal). God Speed your efforts and may you and yours continues to be blessed. And more importantly, may the love of our Savior Jesus Christ enters into the soul of every child of God that sees your show and that they will declare from the 4 corners of the earth that Jesus is the Christ.

Oh, how the enemy loves to attack anything God is doing! All the harassment tells me the enemy would like to thwart the reality that "people must know"....keep up the good work! Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Word made flesh!! All people need to Jesus, the Christ....our Redeemer and Savior of the world!

I too am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and we LOVE The Chosen!!! We have spent hundreds of dollars sharing it with others and supporting its content. Thank you Dallas and team for your vision!!
Shame on those who call themselves Christians who are bickering amongst themselves that required Dallas to make this video! Can’t we just agree to disagree and love Jesus and each other. How would Jesus feel about these comments below. Doesn’t He just want us to Love One Another and let Him take care of Judgement Day!
Let’s just get along so we can get The Chosen Message out to as many people as we can in a world desperate for it’s healing effects. This contention is of the devil because he is trying to stop this work from going forward. We can’t let him win! Love God-Love Each Other it is as simple as that!

@Mimi M here is what LDS creed is. What specific points in it do you disagree with?
We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

True followers of Christ follow him and not lead him down self righteous puritanical paths. I choose Christ. You choose secularism apparently since you reject God is almighty and can do anything he pleases with his own world. God calls you a fool.
Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?
7 Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?
8 Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also.

@Mimi M Please stop lying and slandering. Such perversion of LDS theology really is cheap. Makes me feel that you cannot read or study for yourself. So sorry about your illiteracy. Really. Must be hard to rely on CNN-like entities who are lying to you about LDS theology. I have given you scripture yet you reject truth.
None of your points are accurate in that oooppps we conveniently left out details… polygamy is not an issue. Martin Luther was compared to Joseph Smith on this by Catholic writers. Luther who is the founder of protestantism had no problem letting people marry multiple wives. He also approved of sexual freedom.
Polygamy is not sinful if God permits. King David the psalmist was a polygamist. Do you reject his psalms? How about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob whom God permitted to have multiple wives… well we need to excise those scriptures too. How about gutting all but the four gospels which Luther really wanted.
And then what about slavery? Joseph Smith was anti slavery. Protestants were pro slavery. Seems that is a perversion. And protestants ok’d the slaughter of millions of Jews. Another sickness Luther’s own anti semitism played out. So, honey, you Protestants who destroyed Christian unity in Europe. Guilty of genocide. Guilty of persecution ie murder rape confiscation of 19th century LDS have a lot of repentance and explaining to do. And you fret about trifles that have nothing to do with salvation nor complete truth because such involve more than jamming to rock tunes at church service? Those who have more light and knowledge need not apologize to those with less truth.
