    Students learn the tragic story behind the Trail of Tears and how it impacted the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, and the other 5 civilized tribes. The video teaches the causes and effects of the Indian Removal Act and how President Andrew Jackson was determined to make Indian Removal an achievement of his president and argued it was the humane thing to do for the Indian nations. Covering opposition of forced removal from politicians like Davy Crockett and how Chief John Ross led the fight against the Treaty of Echota. Then the tragic removal of the Cherokee people is taught and how it led to the deaths of perhaps 4,000 Cherokee and what its legacy today.
