    Aaron Gordan's dunk at the 4:12cmark (underneath both legs) was in 2016 the same year as the 2016 Rio Olympics. Based on a segment from sports science, at his peak height during that dunk, he would have at least tied for bronze in the Olympic high jump.

    If some of these dunks don’t look that “impressive” now in 2022, just remember that in these older contests no one had ever seen a lot of these before.

      The older contests are also judged more like gymnastics in that it's all about form and execution. When Orlando Woolridge did the first between-the-legs dunk, he didn't even get a 50.

      Even Vince Carter's magical dunks in 2000 look routine for today's players because they've grown up doing those dunks.

      @@jp3813 The dunks they were attempting was just extremely difficult. Vince was getting 50's for honey dips alone, that'd probably get less than a 45 today. Vince is still the GOAT in game dunker though

    By Spud Webb being so short and to see him doing those types of dunks 360s reverse off the glass makes you appreciate the skill sets he had

    Spudd Webb was one of the only little men in the league to do amazing in the dunk contest. Nate Robinson followed in his steps and jumped over him in his big dunk for the contest. All star weekend is what makes the NBA unique and such a great sport.

      Also won it a few times. Insane hops in both. In 8th grade a 5ft 9 kid that had hops dunking but he was not doing these kinda dunks

    The Dwight Howard dunk that looked like a regular two handed dunk was impressive because he was dunking on a 12 foot rim, 2 feet higher than a standard 10 foot rim, which is world-class for any athlete.
    Another good suggestion would be to react to the 100 best in-game dunks in NBA history.

    LaVine and Gordon were really on another level. Shame that Gordon didn't get one of the two. One of the most creative and spectacular dunks ever and he really bought into the contest, which is more than we can say about the recent contestants.
    Also Spudd was insane. Looks much crazier seing a small dude dunk like that than a tall lenky dude like Dominique.

      That was the best contest for sure. When Gordon came to the nuggets I went to one of the games and during the warm ups I yelled “Mr 50 got robbed in the dunk contest” he smirked and gave me and have a half ass thumbs up lol.

    So, if Spud Webb was 5'6" (and I honestly think he was exaggerating that an inch or two), that means the hoop was 4'6" above his head. That's 1.37 meters that he's hopping in each of his many famous dunks.

    Memories seeing 3 Seattle SuperSonics players.
    I grew up watching Nate Williams in H.S.& at the UW. The 2nd. shortest player at 5'6" Spud being jumped by the 5'9" Nate Robinson but what they don't show and mention is Nate is the only NBA player to win the Dunk Contest 3 different times none of the others have.

    For his height, Spud Webb is one of the best athletes to ever play in the NBA. Also in this video, Nate Robinson had a dunk shown and he is only like 5'8 or 5'9.

    5:21 Julius Erving or Dr J was a phenomenal player of the late 70s and if you aren't familiar with his record, take a look at the Awards section of his Wikipedia page and you'll see why he was so impressive. By the time of this dunk he was only a few years from his retirement but he still had enough gas in the tank to get some height.

    This guy named Jordan Kilganon is pretty impressive too. Some of the coolest dunking videos are done outside of the NBA. Always so Impressive. I, like most kids I knew growing, all dreamed about being able to do it, whether you played basketball or not.

    Vince Carter and Jordan were the best but, the Aaron Gordon/ Zach Lavine contest were the 2 best going head to head ever.

      Vince was the greatest in-game dunker but Lavine and Gordon are better dunkers overall without a question. Obviously, Jordan was in an era where a lot of these new dunks weren't invented but excluding hypotheticals, Gordon and Lavine are the best dunk contest dunkers.

    24:10, Daz, Many of the Black American Athletes in this video have White DNA in them mate. And not just the lighter skinned Blacks whom can dunk as well without effort. Centuries of intermixing. There are Many Black's whom look White , and Vica Versa. Sally Hemmings and Thomas Jefferson's Descendants as an example are White People whom are technically " Black" by the 1 drop Rule. And they are Blue Eyed and Blonde haired. Old Nation. Especially for American Natives, Whites and Black's
