  • Please read below for the updated instructions since posting this video.
    How to configure the Icom IC-9700 to work with both SatPC32 and WSJT-X at the same time. This allows you to make contacts on satellites using FT4.
    The switch I used after wsjtx.exe is --rig-name=None
    Update 1: audio settings video for S.A.T. users.

    www.igatemini.com/sat - link to purchase.
    Update 2: You will want to change in the SatPC32 CAT menu the speed to at least x5 and maybe even x10. Make sure both the SSB/CW and FM/PKT intervals are 0. Click store under each of those options to save.
    !!!!!UPDATE 3 !!!!! Suggested frequencies.
    On RS-44 145.990 seems to be where the crowd has landed.
    From ANS-234 AMSAT News Service Weekly Bulletins 2021-08-21
    FT4 activity is generally at the low end of the downlink passband on other linear satellites (5 kHz above the bottom passband limit), activity on AO-109 has been on a downlink frequency of 435.770 (5 kHz below transponder center)
    Special thanks to Bob N7ZO and Steve KC1MMC.
    Hope to catch you on the birds!

    A video I can watch and learn from and not be confused in the end. No gimmicks, no monkey face, straight to the point, no unnecessary trash and junk talking.
    Some of those you tubers should pay attention to the video.

    Thanks for the comprehensive video!
    A tip for those who have a conflict between both comm ports.....
    Plug the cable from the IC-9700 directly into your PC and not via a splitter / USB extender!!
    It took me many hours to discover this, but luckily it works perfectly now.

    Awesome tutorial. This is easier then working the FM birds tbh. I can work down to 5 deg elevation on my eggbeaters and IC-9700 setup.

      Once you get used to them the linear birds are easier going. FM birds can be chaotic.

      @@nu1u_ant True that. Maybe higher availability via the new Tevel Constellation will help on that front. I need to get better at CW to get the most out of the linears though. More motivation outside of HF contesting, which is completely unique compared to "conversational" CW haha.

      bit late replying, but wanted to say thanks for this comment, i'm just getting into satelittles and have egg beaters on an ic-9700 - its good to know that i'll be able to use them on digital modes.

    Thanks for this video Ant. Just got my 9700 setup with sat pc32 today. Was wondering how to do the digital modes on satellites.

    I want the IC-9700 for receiving digital sats. Is it true the 9700 does not have enough bandwidth to receive 9600 baud signals? Thanks, CE4JDM

    Terrific tutorial!! I just might try this with my FT847. Is there a particular freq that is the watering hole for FT4?

      You need to change the rig name on the second icon. . Check out the video description for the icon launch info.

    sigh...cant get my 9700 to key...you were using a USB cable correct and not some type of CI-V cable...when my 9700 is plugged in I get COM4 and COM5 SatPC32 is using COM5

    Very Cool! I'm always finding something new to try. I was looking at building an eggbeater antenna for my base station. Being omnidirectional, does the rotor help much with your setup?

      I have yagis with a rotator. No experience with eggbeaters.

    Thank you for the video. Do you have any how-to videos on configuring Sat32 and the 9700? Im familiar with WSJT-X but I have never used Sat32 or chased the birds at all. Thanks and 73 de NF4J

    just a quick question regards the setup , would i be able to use these settings for the oq 100 satellite too ?, as i am in the footprint of it ?? ps nice no fluff video btw

    • @nu1u_ant
      @nu1u_ant  Před 2 lety

      I'm not in the footprint, but I do not believe that the IC-9700 runs the frequencies required for that bird.

  • @ljavtech1479
    @ljavtech1479 Před rokem

    Can you save the set up in the 9700 and return to it with out re-adjusting the settings each time? Same q for WSJT-X

    • @nu1u_ant
      @nu1u_ant  Před rokem

      Yes, both the radio and the application should save your changes by default. The radio, with an SD card, can save for multiple different configs. The application allows for multiple configs as well.
