- Brother Anandamoy (1922 - 2016), a much-loved and respected minister of Self-Realization Fellowship, explains how we can get beyond too much thinking about the future by concentrating instead on the true source of security to be found in communion with the Divine.
He points out that this earth is not our home, but rather a school in which we are to learn that we are immortal souls and play our roles in this drama of creation from that divine and joyful perspective.
This talk was given at the 1983 SRF Convocation at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.
During this talk on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, Brother Anandamoy often refers to Yogananda as “Master,” one who is master of himself, a soul that is one with the Divine and able to guide others on the spiritual path.

we have saints on our Path for sure.................I am always trying to remember their words to me,
fortunately we can still "see" them and hear them (CDs or talks here) - but Master's words are living,
right? a living Scripture, like in the time of Jesus........for me.
In one of my early interviews with Bro. Anandamoy at the Encinitas Hermitage (1975) I mentioned my desire to find a safe place given the Cold War possibility of nuclear holocaust. He said “There’s no safe place,” then pointed to the point between the eyebrows and said “…except here.”
....It is impossible not to be deeply moved by these small, sometimes great Miracles that make us simply kneel in deep and humble Gratitude...🪔🙏🏽
I never get tired of listen again and again, the wonderful lectures of this dear Disciple of the Master, the blessed AnandamoyJi....

and once Bro. Achilinanda was telling a story about how he was told this current time would be coming, "A World Crisis"
and Brother Achilinanda kiddingly said, "sounds like a good time to check out" (paraphrased a bit perhaps but that was
the gist of what he said), and Brother Anandamoy said, "(but) not you, not you"...........and it has happened that way.........Brother
is still around, I am sure praying for all of us and the work, doing what he can even though he is now, "retired" or not
actively counseling........he is still with us..........God bless him for doing this. not an easy time for sure.......and yet SRF
started producing videos of the talks and Convocation right before all this started, God was planning ahead, He knew. God bless us all to stay in tune with Guru, He said if we do that He can take our karma................

That's a great story! Br Achalananda is a magnificent monk! I think he just managed to meet Rajarsi before he passed, having just missed Master (1953?). He arrived with Br Dharmananda at the Ashram, as they were friends in civilian life!

Brother Anandamoy is phenomenal. I’m deeply thankful for him, for SRF and for Gurudev.
Tears of Joy blurr my vision as a disciple trying to articulate the transcending Divine magnetic vibrations of One of Masters living enlightened Disciples consistently, through His immaculate attunement, the essence of our Beloved Gurudeva’s teachings. I am very fortunate to have been present through many of Brother Anandamoy’s talks, satsangas, and Holy ceremonies over the years.
My first Convocation was in 1980 at the Biltmore Hotel. There were about a thousand people there. I was so excited to think there were others who found this Path. For sure, although physically present for many of these Holy Gatherings over the years, much is forgotten, although impregnated in our consciousness. To experience this Talk again, feeling the spirit magnetism of His presence,which of course is Master flowing through Him, is life changing, once again. When Brother does that occasional glance into the camera, one feels the power and Love of Master, The Great One’s and God, flowing through Him to all of us.
My deepest appreciation and gratitude to SRF/YSS for sharing these priceless gems with us.
Brother Anandamoy could have given this talk today, it is that timely.

I've found this to be a tremendous talk given by Brother Anandamoy, and I've now listened to it more than 20 times. And interestingly, after listening to it maybe eight times, the wisdom began impacting me even more deeply.
just like reading the Autobiography............I would read things that I could swear I never saw before. I was told it
was because as we change, we see things we didn't see before. and that is what we are here to do, right? to change

I know, right? Brother had (has) such comedic timing.....so hilarious when you least expected it. I remember the talk where a makeup artist was trying to paint hair onto Brother's head and Brother was protesting and said that everyone in SRF knew he didn't have hair and so what would people think if all of a sudden he was on tv and suddenly had hair? and the makeup artist said, "they will LOVE IT!!!!" so funny. God bless Brother.

kriya yoga........it's the most advanced technique SRF gives - apply for the Lessons if you haven't already.
Master said to move out of the cities and grow food.
When I was first pulled onto the Path, I went to a Catholic Stations of the Cross place near Portland, Oregon that the SRF monks were scheduled to speak at, I think it was 1983 or 1984. I knew nothing really, I knew no one but I was drawn to Master after reading the Autobiography of a Yogi.
Anyway, after the talk, we each got a chance to come up and to speak to the visiting monks and I found myself standing in front of this monk. (I had no idea of this monk's name or anything). What I experienced was like standing in front of a mirror, all I could see was my self and what I was doing in my life. It was not a judgement, rather it was allowing me to look at my self and how I was living my life. I never had an experience like this before as it was very unusual but also enlightening for me.
Later, I joined SRF and got kriya and much later, I went to a Convocation at the Bonaventure. In the earlier years, Bro. Anandamoy would be there but people would form a long, long line behind him and trail him around wherever he walked. I don't think he relished all the attention but because he was one of "Master's little boys", he met with each one in turn.
People would take their turn, then stand in front of him, usually pronam and then they would walk away. When my turn came, I looked at him. I don't remember saying anything to him but I experienced the effect of standing in front of a mirror again. A pure reflection. One instantly became aware of what you needed to reflect on, to look at, to become aware of in your self.
I realized that others might also have been having the same experience only because the person I was with told me later that he knew when he stood in front of Brother Anandamoy that he was not doing what he was supposed to be doing as a man. Before that, I thought it might just be my experience but I realized then that others were having the same experience as they stood in front of Brother.
Brother (for me) was a pure mirror for Master, it was all Master showing you your self (the little self, the ego) and what it was you needed to look at in order to work on in yourself. This was my experience. I LOVED Brother but personally I was in such of awe of him that I could not counsel with him nor meet with him nor call him on the phone. I was in such respectful awe of him, that all I could do was stand back. If I saw him at Mother Center, if he passed by, all I could do was stand back and watch, he had such an immense spiritual presence, that I couldn't approach him. I respected his spirituality so much, he was a spiritual giant to me and such a saint to me!
I will add this, as a measure of eternal gratitude to Brother. He reassured me that my dear Dad was not suffering any more and was happy in the astral - I had written to Brother, after my Dad had passed. I had been worried about my Dad as he had not had a good time of it here in this life and Brother wanted to reassure me. Brother wasn't even counseling at that point but had sent a message to me thru an SRF nun to make sure I didn't worry. So grateful.
Much gratitude, much love to Brother, thank you Master.
