Am I the only one that doesn’t like Phoenix as the championship race? I always loved Homestead as being the last race. And I don’t think it’s just nostalgia. I like Phoenix’s dog leg and the action that comes from people running on it, but Homestead was always more action packed for me.
Edit: I totally agree about New Hampshire. It’s my home track, I’ll always have a bias towards it, but there’s a reason the September race was cut. And yes, I agree. After Sunday, they need some lighting 😂 yeah they finished it but they cut it close.

One thing that helps Homestead in terms of getting the season finale in 2026 is the fact that it will host a Formula E race next year & the FIA fully expects the track to upgrade its facilities in order to host that particular event. Homestead is replacing Portland on the Formula E schedule which may end up helping Portland get a Cup Series date (which would be the first ever Cup Series race in the PNW) due to Gateway being moved into the playoffs. Even if Portland does not get a Cup Series race, I fully expect the Xfinity Series to return there next year as a way of NASCAR maintaining a presence in the PNW.

Dover should’ve been the in the playoffs and not New Hampshire. You avoid weather delays and add a unique track back to the playoffs. Gateway I don’t mind for the reasons given even if it’s not an amazing race. And adding on to Homestead, another thing to mention is Formula E will race there starting next year. And assuming it’s a multi year deal I’m sure they’d love a facility upgrade.

As someone who follows Formula E closely, I think Formula E is going to give Homestead one chance to put on a good race mainly because of the backlash they have received from fans (mainly West Coast ones) about Portland being taken off of the schedule for Homestead next season. If Homestead produces a bad Formula E race after the facility upgrades, I could easily see Formula E going back to Portland for 2026.

Well, when it comes to what Jordan Bianchi said about the possible changes to the playoffs in 2025, here's what I have to say about them: 1st, for Homestead, I really don't like the idea of it being removed from the playoffs next year because I had gotten used to seeing it return to the playoffs the last two years even though I still miss it hosting championship weekend, but with what we've been hearing about how they're pushing to have Homestead host championship weekend in 2026, I might be all right with it and I would like to see Homestead take place after the Daytona 500, similar to what they did in 2021 during the pandemic. 2nd, when it comes to New Hampshire, it was originally part of the playoffs from 2004-2017 and it would be a return to the playoffs for that track, but I would rather keep it in July and give Dover another shot in the playoffs. And finally, as far as Gateway goes, I'm 50/50 on that one. All-in-all, in the end, that's all I've got to say, so goodbye!

Ever since my first race attending in the late 2000s I have seen the neglect and cost cutting that has been detrimental to the customer. I wish the individuals who owned it cared about it as much as I do and remember what it was. Now I had a son and he will be 1 year old in a couple weeks and it gets harder to travel to different tracks. One can hope I suppose.

Still don't understand what renovations are needed at Homestead. It was completely fine hosting the championship for almost 20 years, and once other tracks get renovated, that automatically means Homestead needs to be upgraded too? All I can think of are the bathrooms and turn 1 grandstands. What else needs to be done? I know I shouldn't complain about getting renovations done.
I'm cool new tracks getting a playoff date. Happy for Watkins Glen this year & Gateway next year. New Hampshire I'm concerned about because it's not one of NASCAR's best tracks. If they get a playoff race for a few years then great, but I"m hoping it's not for that long. Our schedule is made up of so many different tracks, that I think it's crazy to assume having an extra road course or plate race makes the whole playoff system a crapshoot.

I like it. The playoffs races should consistently change and not remain consistent. That will help keep it fresh and create further parity which means more satisfied fans. The casual fans that is because we all know the diehards will complain no matter what but the casuals are the ones that ultimately matter the most. That's what all the other stick and ball sports have learned and why they're seeing huge increase in ratings and attendance. Especially baseball. Tradition doesn't mean much anymore to people, people want to be entertained and they want change that will bring more entertainment. Staying the same is not how you do that.

Not really changing the playoff races doesn't really do anything. I don't even know why people are even asking for a Dover playoff race when it was pretty much a snoozefest every season. If anything put good tracks in the playoffs and keep it that way.

I say maybe SMI should swap the second Vegas race in the Playoffs for North Wilkesboro. A comeback of North Wilkesboro with a points-paying race would be landmark. I think north Wilkesboro has made a case for a points-paying date with its hosting of the All-Star Race. Plus, the Las Vegas race has had low attendance especially last October. Maybe we should not be having a race in Las Vegas in the middle of football season, and maybe Las Vegas does not need two dates.

Flat tracks in the playoffs gee thanks nascar. New Hampshire was considered the worst race of the year before Texas motor became so unpopular, sorry but until there’s additional power in these cars flat tracks can be alright racing now but they need better. Ffs nascar bring back the rock, come to pikes peak international, abandon cAlIFoRnIA wet dreams y’all seem stuck on. Come further south. Add summer 8-10 mini “summer heat” seasons with weekday night 150-250 mile events at local .5-.75 mile tracks. They can’t say it’s not big enough for nascar when the stands are empty most the time anyways.

Gateway doesn’t do much for me either. The 2025 playoffs look like they may easily be the most boring ever. Even ‘Dega and its fuel mileage racing has gotten boring.
