Dooku Finally Reveals WHY he Told Obi-Wan About Sidious!

- At long last, we finally know!
It was always a wonder as to why Dooku would actually reveal to Obi-Wan Kenobi that there was a dark lord, Darth Sidious, behind the Senate. Was it because he felt for his former pupil, Qui-Gon Jinn, and wanted Kenobi to be safe? Was it because he wanted to kill Sidious and take over the galaxy, himself? Well, here's the real answer from Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno (legends, not canon anymore [but it is in my mind])

Something I always liked about Dooku is that even though he was a Sith Lord he wasn't completely consumed by the dark side and used his brain.

I think he genuinely wanted Sidious gone. He posed a threat to Dooku, knowing skywalker would be a future apprentice and the rule of two. Also he never seemed fully to the dark side. I think he just saw the flaws of the Jedi and was pulled to the dark by Sidious but would have ended up more neutral if Sidious was out of the picture.

I love Dooku was one of the most relaxed Sith in Star Wars, never letting the dark fully consume him, just for him to use it, like he did with the light side.
Makes me feel like dooku was never a true sith lord
I remember a guildee in a game pointing this out before in a SW discussion and making the argument that Dooku could be described as a Grey Sith. I'm not sure if it's accurate but I can see where they're coming from. Dooku just wasn't the archetypal Sith lord but did have a wider view of the Force as a whole, just happening to be in the dark side.

@@drkinferno72 well the main reason is why Sith recruited Palpatine due to how malevolent Palpatine truly is. Also Palpatine is much darker than Dooku, Vader, Plagueis and Maul. Palpatine is perfectly attuned to the dark side. Also When you join the Sith, you will leave the Jedi Order fully.

My interpretation always that Dooku had primarily left the jedi order because Qui Gon was murdered by a sith. I feel he always wanted the sith gone and so he opted to infiltrate the sith with the aim of getting rid of sidious.
That is the reason why he told Obi Wan to join him and not the dark side. That is also why he only cut off Anakin's hand instead of killing Anakin. Dooku was as far as I was concerned the Severus Snape of the prequel trilogy. He had to do some bad things with a very good goal in mind.
Still, after a while he stopped caring if he had to become something similar (albeit, YES, not sadistically evil like Sidious.)
He joined sidious before that watch tales of the Jedi….. he’d already started the plans with the clones and hiding kamino etc
My interpretation of it was always that Dooku was just being sneaky with Obi Wan. He knew he was strong and was held in extremely high regard by the council, including Yoda himself and Qui Gon when he was still alive, so he propositioned Obi Wan to join the dark side without outright asking him to join the dark side, and have him distrust the council and the republic itself to make it easier. Obi Wan saw right through it though of course.
I agree. He wanted to get Obi Wan to help him overthrow Sidious but with himself as the Sith Master and Obi Wan as the Sith Apprentice. Which is by all accounts WHAT a Sith is SUPPOSED to do.

Imagine if Dooku had told Obi Wan that he left the Jedi order to find this "sith master", and to pretend that he would want to be his next apprentice. - Just so he could kill Sidious and destroy the sith for good! And then he needed Obi Wan to inform the council of this, so they could help him defeat Sheeve, next time they would have a "secret sith meeting".
If Dooku would have outed Palpatine, this would be a better theory.
That would be a good twist, but out of a character of Dooku which was created later.

Always two there are. A master and an apprentice. Two lightsabers in Anakin's hands. Two parts of Darth Tyranus (his head and the rest of him).
He was arrogant because of the dark side and such and didn't think anakin could beat him.
Not to mention Sidious had arranged (supposedly) to have Dooku rejoin the republic and have grievous take the fall. That was the plan as far as dooku was concerned. He was wrong, naturally.
Also, I imagine dooku thought it would play out as a Cognus type situation. They reveal themselves as Sith, Anakin turns, sidious and tyrannus fight for mastery. Whoever survived takes Anakin as their Sith apprentice.
@@elderliddle2733 I feel in this situation, Dooku would have been the better mentor. He probably, the stress gone, would have "cared" more. Oooh poor Anakin, he has everything taken from him poor lad. True hero's journey.
By having the jedi investigate the chancellor, as well as the senate, I think it makes it easier for Palpatine to sell the lie that they were attempting to take over. He could point to the actual evidence, and it was one less thing any surviving jedi would be able to deny, because they were investigating both.

I think Obi-Wan has had a huge impact on Anakin’s life that it would have been plausible that he would have turned to the dark side if Obi-Wan died. He viewed Obi-Wan as a father, a brother, and a best friend, not to mention that Obi-Wan would’ve been the only one who had faith in him in the Jedi Order at this time because Ahsoka left. There would have been nothing left for Anakin in the jedi order if Obi-Wan died. So, yes. It would be possible for Anakin to turn to the Dark Side if Obi-Wan died.

The Legends novels “Labyrinth of Evil”, “Revenge of the Sith”, and “Darth Vader: Lord of the Sith” were supposed to form a trilogy.
I think the novel “Darth Plagueis” must fit into that trilogy somewhere. It is almost like it works like a prequel to that entire trilogy, except it should be read last!

Dooku saw Obi as a grandson, Dooku trained Qui Gon who trained Obi. Dooku was not committed to the Jedi nor the Sith, Dooku wanted to have Obi as his apprentice to start his own cadre of force users. Dooku was an independent thinker.

Don't forget that the sith always intrigue against one another as well. Dooku might very well have hoped to oust Sidious and take over the reigns with Kenobi's help.

These past few videos have so much fanfiction material and I'd love to see you do them. Ranging from Obi-Wan dying during the battle with Count Dooku, you know what Count Dooku separatist Union would look like.
On another note, I believe that the reveal Count Dooku made did protect the Chancellor from being discovered, because as Yoda stated, if the leader of the separatists and the Sith was truly the head of the war against the Republic, the Republic should have logically lost already . It's one of those things where the Jedi were too honorable and cut off to consider that the enemy would purposely reveal themselves as a distraction, or that a Sith would have anything to gain from being the leader of the Republic. After all see if Noah only destruction, and the chancellor has purposefully helped out the Republic. It's the way the rule of two Sith operate, hiding in plain sight.

Ooh, this totally brings up a super important Revenge of the Sith line : "Remember what you told me about your mother, and the sand people?" (Or something similar)It totally shows that Palpatine had become quite close to him at that point, far closer than the Clone Wars TV series showed. That's something Anakin might've never told Obiwan, and it shows how much Sidious needed Obi Wan out of the way.

The only way I would’ve seen Anakin turn so quickly by Obi Wans death would be how the council handled the situation, Anakin would want revenge or “justice” just as he wanted for his mother and as Obi Wan wanted for Qui Gon. If the council denied him of what he wanted or tried to push it away, it would’ve been extremely easy for Palpatine to have him in his hand and turn him
IMO it was to draw the Jedi into meddling in senate politics, which then supports Sidious’s “Jedi tried to kill me” story post Ep. 3.

I always saw it as him trying to turn ObiWan to his aprentice. In the same way DarthVader is like “Luke we can beat the Emperor and take the galaxy” Duuku was like “i wish QuiGon was here...” cuz he would have wanted QuiGon by his side to take the galaxy. This is trye because Duukuand Quigon both had similar controversial thoughts about some of the Jedi’s ideologies. And because of this, Duuku turns to Obiwan (Quigons apprentice) and tries to recruit him with a tale of a Dark Lord that the two of them can defeat. Still trying to play innocent. It was a test to see if he would, in which case Tyranus would be new Sith Lord with ObiWan as the apprentice. It beautifully mirrors the second movie in the Original trilogy as the 2nd movie of the prequeltrilogy. This scene was born from the Vader telling Luke “join me . “ scene. Beautiful.
To expand: i don’t think he intended to reveal that the sith controlled the senate. He only did to Obi-Wan in case he was willing to help him. And it was of no concequence because Obi-Wan was to be executed. So, basically Duuku plan backfired and his bluff of a story to recruit Obi-Wan ended up as vital information that was not supposed to be used against him.

I remember a scene where there was a battle going on with blaster fire being exchanged near a huge Darth Vader statue, and I believe the statue was damaged during the fight and fell over.
