3-way and 4-way Light Switches - When and Why you need them

  • Sometimes a single pole light switch is not enough to control the lights. With multiple points of access, you may need 2 or more switches to control the lights in a space.
    This is where 3-way and 4-way switches come in. These switches allow an 0n/Off control of the lights from any of the access points. Using this avoids a Primary/Secondary setup where one switch will permanently turn off the lights no matter what the other switches are set to.
