To be honest, I think social media exaggerrates the number of people who actually think in a distorted manner. Realistically speaking, most people (even Gen Z) don't have radical beauty and money standards. Most people might expect a higher salary for their first job, but that's normal. Social media makes it look like EVERY Gen Z and millennial is shallow minded and impractical because those are the types of teenagers and 20 year olds you're seeing. But the average young person is not caught up in all of this. Most of them are out partying, studying, talking to their friends or watching some random video. I think we're stereotyping too much. Yes, there are many young people with messed up mentalities, but they don't represent the whole generation.

    • @splatt5793
      @splatt5793 Před 3 měsíci +7

I disagree to some extent. Myself being a Gen Z, a lot of people are caught up in social media's shallow mindedness and impracticality. Because of the societal pressures of looks and relationships, people are more concerned about having a high body count and their looks rather than things that might matter in the long run, like education and becoming a better person. Of course, not EVERY Gen Z is like this, which is why I agree slightly, but many of them are. Nearly everyone in my year vapes daily, smokes weed and would rather get action from a girl than do something productive. Ultimately, Gen Z's focus is about social acceptance because that's what social media is all about nowadays, and it's terrible. Thank God I deleted TikTok.

The problem is those kinds of people won't get attention because they're busy doing other thing so than posting on social media the whole day!
Maybe I'm being defensive because I'm GenZ, but I think there are other parts of the world that people don't see.

The worst thing about social media, is expectations, and perspective, when you grow up without social media, your range of perspective in life is super short, so for example, if i want to be a musician, i know some ppl on my town or my neighborhood, that are the best at it in my world, so thats the celling on my pov, today , you open ig, and you will see a 8yo boy in fillipines, playing piano (for example) better then a guy that spend 10 years practicing, so you give up before start, the same goes, for partners, business, looks, knowledge, and everything else, and you ended up feeling drepessed, cause you think you're not enough for anything.

I've been working in public transit for 20 years here in Toronto and from my experience this generation on AVERAGE (not everyone) is the most entitled, rudest, and just generally the least courteous and respectful out of everyone that I deal with. I work in one of the most diverse cities in the world which love but the last few years there's been a serious change in just general respect. Smartphones and social media are a huge problem for the young. I have a friend who's been a teacher for the past 15 years, and now he hates his job as it's harder to teach the younger generation because of the lack of respect. Smartphones have dumbed down pretty much all of society, but it just ruined this generation coming up. Again, there's going to be some exceptions, but I've seen so much in my 20 years that I just see humanity through a different set of eyes. Respect to you guys, and you got a new subscriber.

Comparing my life to others, thinking I should be doing better, hating myself for missing out on stuff. Idk I just hate smartphones and the apps I guess. I don’t think the apps were designed for this the companies just got greedy from ad revenue, social media is a lot in how you use it. To me it seems its just made the world anti social like there just aren’t any real reasons to ever speak to somebody in public. In college everyone would just stare at their phones nobody ever talked to each other in class teachers would legit be confused. Idk maybe I’m thinking too much into it but it seems social media has had its effects in society a lil bit. Depression has just never been higher, sex rates all time low. Relationships all time low. Shit seems weird to me

honestly, as a girl from this generation (which I fully agree is messed up when it comes to certain things) the talk about weight, figure etc. helped me more than therapy. it's really reassuring to hear it from men especially. cause i think (only my personal opinion) a lot of women when they change something in them they change it ,,for" men as well? i mean it's not like oh he said that he liked big x so i went and got big x. it's to fit in the standards that lead to believe that if we change we will be more worthy of love. ofc i'm not critisising girls/boys or others who had something done - that's not the point cause obviously there are people who change just because they want to etc. i just think that a lot of us feel this constant need of changing our looks or something like that and if we do not change - we're done. i hate it with my whole heart. you are beautiful❤

when i was working as a support worker i had a young man refuse to look for work, he bought the Hustlers University and believed he would become a multi-millionaire
he planned to never work a standard job
Racism isn't a thing of the past, it's very present but wealth protects you from certain parts
I've had many people tell me Racism didn't exist in London or England, it never stopped but we are not taught black British history in schools
we point to America and scare the crap out of kids then say "Ain't you proud to be British"
my family is a family from the 60's
me personally my grandad was born in 1926, he literally fought in the Nothing Hill race riots
my mum was attacked by teddy boys
my brother was beaten up as a child by the police
an except my grandad they are all still here
an these events have shaped who they are in a major way
but it's way too much attention to a minor passing statement
The kids today are obsessed ... you see as a black person i know what this materialistic worldview does to those who don't have
an the most vulnerable are going to be the most affected
an many black people don't even like being black ... they find value in the clothes they wear and the jewellery and the stupid stuff
so these kids are going to be so much more willing to put in work because either consciously or sub-consciously without the appearance of value, they have no value
an i see it so much, i see teens do madness, go to prison and come out a Muslim and blame all their wrongdoings on blackness and black people, separate themselves through religion and throw stones at black people from their glass house
avoiding any responsibility for their past actions
hey, we were all black and broke
but you jumped off the porch and got involved in madness
some of us suffered and tried to build for a better tomorrow, don't blame us for your character flaws
an most the time the person is still violent and aggressive, but just with religious nonsense behind it
you used to attack smaller kids
now you attack gays and women
OMG, i'm doing too much, i'll stop here
but ... there are other factors driving the culture of today, some of it human some of it artifical

Hence, you do not find them engaging in what you stereotypically expect from them. Also, you must remember chances are they also learned history and got acquired themselves with black Muslim revolutionaries like Malcolm X and are inspired by black Muslims like Mansa Musa and Mohammed Ali. So no need to talk down to them.

    "I think it will change"
It could due to the pendulum effect. Eventually shit gets old, boring, tired or gets to the point where you're just disgusted by it and you swing the other away. Parents who don't like this nonsense will raise there kids better. I think the next gen will look at the previous gen and realize how unbelievable vain gen z are.

i appreciate them for even talking about it cuz many men can’t do that but i also think they’re kind of being hypocritical 🫠 i mean “bunda” is literally their brand? all the dating videos they did (even if it’s just banter) you see how they act when beautiful 10/10 girls are lined up there and they follow ppl like Andrew tate. Im not even saying this to cuss them but i hope they can see how the male gaze and the way they talk about women influenced their male following

    • @ss4806
      @ss4806 Před 3 měsíci +5

like men need to realise that respect for women goes beyond than just loving your mum, but there’s way worse out there and i do think they can pick up on misogyny and respect women, i just hope they can reflect a little more x

i think some of your answers in the first half may have been different if you acknowledge that there's a difference between mental health and mental illness.
everyone has mental health but not everyone has mental illness so to the ' do you think everyone has mental health issues to an extent?' question, while the question implies an opinion, the answer should be yes
