I used to think so, but not so, because he didn't have "complete control of the ball and his own movement." His movement is the key here, because it was all one motion. He didn't stop and then later drop it.

In the first one, the ball seemed to be fair as his foot was on the line and not completely over it. Also it said as Dinesh Mongia, but it was Akash Chopra who had taken the catch.

That moment when Gibbs dropped the World Cup. South Africa really were the team to beat in 1999. Such a shame that they didn’t knock Australia out when they had the chance. Steve really made them pay by going on to score a match winning century (120). Still feel bad for the Proteas.. that team was their best chance at World Cup glory (apart from 2015 of course)
