Using the Long/Lat coords in the lower right corner also helps make marking a perfect square in GEP. If you make note of the coords at the NW and SE corners, you can them to enter into MicroDEM to adjust the map area size and get the DEM specific for those coords.
I know im like a year too late, but this is so outdated. All you need is DEM.tif file and google earth, drag and drop tif file in google earth and if asked create super resolution. And instead of sniping tool use save image option in google earth for much higher resolution image.
I foung great metod, if u have low-res display (like i have) then simply position ur display where u wanna have it and see if the line is straight or pixelated, if it is pixelated then it is not alignet with the display. Works in all directions (90°, 180°, 270°, 360°)
same thing happened to me.....make sure under files tab in Giants you have correct install directory's linked to the right hard drive folder locations. what happened with me was i uninstalled the game or app and reinstalled it in a dif location and that fucked everything up so every time i tried to open a file it would immediately close apps.

Tutorials Should be put done step by step even your mouse clicks. Wow I had to rewind to see how you brought a menu up 3 times.
