- Welcome to the third day of NFL free agency (or technically the first). Let's check in on the Cowboys doings and plans. That won't take long.
Things we'll kick around today:
- The Cowboys approach to free agency and how it's a self fulfilling prophecy.
- This may be year one of a two year rebuild.
- It's becoming quite realistic that this is Dak Prescott's last year as the Cowboys QB.
- How the draft plans are looking with their lack of action now.
Mash that thumbs up for me if it's not too much trouble!

The Cowboys are one of the few teams that see it and operate as a literal business without the goal of winning the super bowl
They've won the Superbowl three times. Been to 8 SB won 5.
AND ALL THE IDIOT FANS KEEP BUYING SHIT!!! I dont know who are dumber fans or jerry. hmmmm...@@terrenceliburd8655
Yeah 30 years ago what have they done lately nothing absolutely nothing except make a shitload of money at the fans expense
@@terrenceliburd8655that comment right there is the biggest part of this problem!! STOP living in the distant past when the team was run differently, when the league was completely different and management were committed to winning championships! Those days are long, long gone and the new Cowboy way has produced NOTHING and is quite happy and content with NOTHING! SMDH.......when will the people wake the hell up and see this traveling shit show circus as just that and not the fantastical delusion they've created in their mind? Americas Team is just as corrupted and fraudulent as America right now. They're both being run by lying charlatans who do NOT represent their constituents in any way whatsoever while taking their money hand over fist.
@@terrenceliburd8655you’re the SUCKER that Jerry loves most in this delusional fanbase!
I'm so glad you're not on 105.3 anymore
The thing I hate about the Cowboys approach is that they don’t ever try to sign the coveted free agents, but will overpay guys they drafted (injured Gallup, Zeke, etc.)
That's what you're supposed to do build your team through draft and extend them if they pan out and fill holes through FA you don't build your team off of free agents they are like icing on cake you can't overpay good players only to still nor win
You forgot about Dak, He's the biggest over pay ever.
Yeah they waste so much cap space.. but its fpr Jersey sales.... They know stupid people have always overrated Zeke so they dont mind paying a guy who the fans know and kick back some of that money in Jersey sales and commercials
@@BPS270actually thats what YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO... You build your team through good moves.... Which includes trades FA draft etc... what you dont do is overpay for a guy like Zeke who never took football serious.. was never all that great, in a position thats easily replaceable and doesn't add as much value as other spots. And you dont pay Galluo who was NEVER all world in the first place after coming off a devastating injury especially if means letting Amari go who you invested a number one draft pick into when you didn't need to and who's been very good since college
@@tbrown4562I mean he was the best QB in football last season and the value Saks added to the Cowboys and constantly carrying them to 12 wins is IMMEASURABLE so they've been UNDERPAYING Dak if anything
What a depressing year...
Cowboy fan from Houston. The Texans are showing us up right now. It's sad that they have a brighter future than we have. I'm not liking this.
I’m in Houston as well. Pretty ashamed to be a Cowboys fan right now.
@@MarquesHardison I feel like this is the situation from Major League where the owner wants the team to fail so she can move it out of Cleveland. And it seems the Jones' love California more than Texas. Idk.
From Houston also. Let’s pause, because they were really bad, got Watson, traded him to a poorly run franchise in Cleveland for a kings ransom, and used those picks to build. They were a terrible team and had 2 top 15 picks at the most coveted positions in the draft, and have a hungry coach. They’re a good team, and have the cap to make moves bc they’ve been bad for so long. If stroud regresses, then you’ll see. They won’t be able to pay all their guys with stroud making the money he would demand and they’ll be back to square one. They gotta do more than barely win the division vs the colts, and more than beat a 45yr old QB at home in the wild card
@@darianolivares408 That may be the case but their stock is trending upward where ours is in decline. i think it will be easier for them to stay relevent as long as they dont hire a coach and GM that sabotages their club.
100%. CJ is legit Top 10
I'm good with this direction! Maybe when Jerry said we are going all in, he meant all in is tearing it down. Be prepared for a 3 year rebuild
Yes but then the blinkered analysts would just have to shut up and wait rather than yammering on about the Jones' don't know how to run their franchise.....after consecutive 12-win seasons.
105.3 no comment... best thing you said today... don't step in it... wow
I'm thinking your right and before this team hits the iceberg they are going to blow this thing up.
I'll be watching this years cowboy games the same way I would watch a golf tournament! "Golf Clapping"!
Im good with it. Lets tear it down.
Good calm reasonable show.
Thanks Solo Jeff!
Definitely feels like a rebuild.
It is what part are you missing it's day 3 we haven't signed anyone and only restructured Zack Martin so far
Great Video - well presented.
I liked this take on Dallas' actions...
If you follow Mike Fisher, he’s telling us what the Cowboys are doing…..
Be careful with that. Because access as a Journalist is extremely important to keep
Haha Mike Fisher haha

I’m so much happier as a lifelong Cowboys fan now that I’ve accepted it’s better to not take this team seriously and just admit they’re not trying to win a SB. I’m just sitting back and laughing at this whole process now.
Jeff. If this is the logic. Why wouldn’t they trade Dak now for picks and ride with Trey lance
Dak has a no trade clause. Also, other teams are less likely to give up valuable assets when he’s one year away from free agency.
I also don’t see a team taking on the $60M contract
@@paulmansfield6029 Cousins just got paid $180 over 3 years with $100 million guaranteed after an achilles injury dude. Dak is younger, just had an MVP caliber season, and is in the middle of his prime.
Prime😂
You acting like logic is involved in this stupidity
With this looking like the start of a rebuild, we are going to hear the media talking about “all in” quote for the next 12 months. Also I wouldn’t blame Dak if he was tired of the Jones family and wants to leave, I am sick of them lol.
I don’t always agree with everything Jeff says, but I sure like the guy
It's good that you have seen all the contracts and know what Cowboys players are like. The NFL would shock you if you knew the player side vs the owner side. We have gone 12-5 for 3 years and you are like every other You Tuber parroting what you hear from the news outlets.
100%
Complete rebuild, let's do it.
Do you really think this front office can successfully navigate a rebuild? I don't
All those players that left the Cowboys in free agency got overpaid. And those players are average or a little better than average. Dallas made the right decision to let them go. All free agent signings are overpaid. It’s a big risk for Dallas. I probably rather take my chances in the draft.
Carr might have been an overpay but he didn’t miss a snap over five years and three defensive coordinators and two systems. There’s overpays and there’s *overpays*
Yeah people keep acting like Carr was awful. He was a decent corner, Just didnt live up to his contract but blame that on Stephen for overpaying him lol
Unforgiven over Tombstone - but it is close.
Old Henry is great too.
You dont spend a 4th on Trey Lance 2 years before QB1 contract is up for nothing…
Lance's contract is up next year too. Theyll either have to pay him some decent money or let him walk as well.
I love how you people are so desperate to flush Dak down the toilet that you're putting all your eggs into the basket of a guy who is now in year 4, has played 20 total games at QB in his entire life, and couldn't beat out Sam Darnold in the most QB friendly offense in the NFL.
I hope ya'll enjoy the next 10-15 years of misery once Dak is finally gone and we blow through first round picks every 3-4 years on busts like most QB's end up being.
@@bdgrey nobody is putting their eggs into the basket... it's what the ACTUAL COWBOYS did. Calm your hysterics down, it's literally what the Cowboys FO did, not what fans want. Don't confuse the 2.
@@bdgrey Yeah it was such a long stretch of misery after Romo left, how did we cope after losing a franchise QB... oh woe the QB leaving will kill the Cowboys.
@@bdgreycan't wait for Dak to be off the Cowboys. I'll celebrate 🍾 when They drop his overpaid Choking Ass.
Idk how we are in cap trouble with how mediocre we are. Your best players haven’t even gotten paid, Dak is on a market value deal, just doesn’t make sense. This team is awful at cap management.
I'm fine with the rebuild if you're not finding a player like we did with Charles Haley or Deion Sanders through free agency then you rebuild with the guys that you have you don't overpay for players that aren't going to help you win now
Jerry's like, I got all the time in the world. Also possible is the silent boycott of teams in free agency.
My question is why keep McCarthy around if this was going to be a rebuild? Jerry knew he wasn’t going to spend money this offseason so you’re basically telling him go win the superbowl or you’re fired but then you’re not going to give him some players? This team makes no sense
Lol this is exactly why I don’t get why cowboys fans are excited. We basically going to get another coach, qb, DC, it makes no sense at all!
It's called a lame duck season. They aren't trying to win a SB. They're just putting what's left of the team out on the field and telling McCarthy to do what he can with it. McCarthy knows what's going on. We all do.
Trey Lance - They spent money on him...they traded for him...that is their emergency plan...I am 100% convinced they think they can make it work.
Dak's agent got over big time on JJ and SJ during last negotiation. I don't think the Jones guys liked it and are finally going to play hardball, in their own way. It's looking more like they may let this thing play out with the big cap hit this coming season. If we get the same results in the post season, Dak will move on and they will let him.
No the Joneses played hard ball and lost.
@@biggacowboysfan791 agree. "In their own way" means they lost the last negotiation and now have screwed themselves. So they have to let the QB walk and build around Parson, Lamb, Diggs, and Tyler Smith with a new QB in 2025.
Bass is better than Biadisz right now, today.
The Cowboys have said numerous times why they don't participate in tier 1 free agency. They believe you pay players a tier above their value there. So you pay good players like they are great, and really good players like superstars.
Look at this FA class and the salaries... they aren't wrong.
Watch "The Cowboys" Jeff. You'll love John Wayne after watching it.
Dak can go. Besides some regular season accolades, they haven't been successful when it matters most. People are starting to loose sight of what's most important. Something is wrong when during the regular season things are fine, but when the playoffs hit things fall apart. Sometimes the defense isnt great, but that offense consistently stalls and goes stagnant in big games and playoffs no matter what the defense does (i.e.. 49ers being held to 19 points in the 2023 playoffs). This is not all on the coach
I wouldn’t hate for a rebuild… as long as they commit all the way. Instead of trying to put up 9-10 win seasons.
two years in the dump... might hurt Daks value and/or at least keep it stagnant while the cap grows... I hate being a cowboys fan sometimes.
I honestly like the fact we give the guys we drafted big money. The culture isn’t perfect right now but longterm it creates a ton of homegrown superstars. Dak ain’t worth top money though. I ain’t pocket watching I hope he makes 500 mil on endorsements and whatever he want but in comparison to the play of other qb’s he is not worth 60 times as much as Brock Purdy. Dak needs the cowboys way way more than they need him. He gets drafted by any other team and hes possibly not even starting right now.
Report from Mike fisher that cowboys could be tanking this year... Not resigning dak.. Let dlaw and Zack Martin go next yr... Mika and cedee wouldnt want to stay
They would love to get paid. What you talking about. It's No secret that from those guys own family's that Dak isn't the guy. That's no a coincidence Would be tye best thi g to happen.
Dallas game does not translate to playoff wins for three reasons:
1. Season success gets mid level talent in drafts
2. Skimping on FA - speaks for its self
3. Poor contract negotiation tactics - speaks for itself
Yet they had a top 2-5 roster... and have had what every analyst says is a top 5 roster for a decade.
The problem is that the qb choked. Almost any other competent qb (Goff, Mayfield etc) would have won at least one title in this span with that talent.
Not enough draft picks to fix everything
Jeff - how many bad FA signings have we had over the years? And how long will Barkley stay on the field for the Eagles? We also have a BAD contract with Dak. Stephen already said they can move some of Dak's money to next year. Dak will ask for a trade before the 1st game. Dak will want out and ask for a trade. Then Jerry / Jimmy will have a boat load of picks again.
I’m just trying to figure out how we are so good at wasting the type of talent we have. Micah parsons will basically be ready to leave by the time we actually get a rebuild going.
If it is the first year of a 2-year rebuild when they go BPA in every round?
All I know is I'm tired of Players' family trashing other players and as of late trashing the front office.
Are the family members being used by the Players to send toxic messages that they can't directly?
Absolutely Disgusting
I am not expecting much with the exception of solid effort.....Given proper effort the Cowboys should continue to entertain...The cap sucks! and it is what it is.....NOT going to allow it to effect my mood, just going to share my attention with the Lions!.
🏁#TeamTank
I think the biggest issue will be if they stay where they're at right now and don't restructure guys, don't sign people, etc. Then we're going to be good enough again to have a winning season but nothing else, while also screwing ourselves next year by not having a QB or a draft pick high enough to get a good one.
It’s only but somewhat a draft can do
We tanking for Arch!!!
Bro I was literally just thinking that. Isn't he coming out in 2 years?
The Cowboys won't be bad enough to get him.
I guess you can look at this two different ways. While Dallas does nothing, the Giants are giving $150 million to a guy who had the same amount of sacks as Dorance Armstrong. I’d like Dallas to be somewhere in the middle of these two scenarios.
At least they try
@@belowthaheavenz9388 This is more than trying, it’s majorly overspending. As I said, I’d like to see Dallas somewhere in the middle.
They did get a good deal for Burns right until they gave him that fat paycheck.
Wow is that going to bite them in the ass down the road.
Hey Jeff love you too man
Divorce from Dak is needed at this point. I've seen enough from him to know what he is and that he's just not good enough in big games.
We need to pay Micah and Lamb asap.
They are not giving big contacts to people they didnt draft. They sign thier stars bc it's good for the brand to have the same big names year after year. Its profitable for the brand. This is the only reason.
If you are rebuilding, why don’t you starting trading people like dak, Gallup
Etc. the problem is that Cap boy and Jones’s want to kind of win and also rebuild at that same time. They will never win playoff games with Jones’s managing this team
Mazi Smith and Luke Schoonmaker and Overshown...big, big misses for 2023.
Hopefully, they can improve and contribute this season.
I like the idea of just going in house and drafting best player available (this is where the Cowboys shine in the draft). It shouldn't be lost on any of us how the only QB's who help their team out over the last 25 years are the absolute best at the position. That's how much they want to be winners. 99.9% of all athletes today value money over championships, so why should the franchises be any different. You can reverse that statement if it is more palatable to you. So, when your guy can't win being paid top money, for whatever reason, and won't give you a discount then go cheap everywhere else until the contract is up and maybe he'll stay healthy long enough to get his big contract somewhere else.
That * in-house" squad is a 6 win team man. Gonna get ran on all day and play with no running game and edge rushers in Dak's face
To me I feel like Jerry Jones is setting McCartney up for failure due to where Jimmy Johnson is back in the building that where Jimmy Johnson know how to recruit and Jimmie Johnson definitely is a disciplined coach
McCarthy is basically a placeholder now...
Dallas needs 3-4 back-to-back years of 4 wins or less seasons to rebuild this team…or fire sale Dak, Micah, and Trevon
There is so much negativity around the Cowboys right now that it is bumming me out. When they choke in the playoffs, you think ok next year. Now everyone says the next season is going to suck. I may check out of all of it for awhile. Focus on something else.
Look at the LA Rams when they went out and bought everybody and look what happened to the end they won a super bowl
They had a lot of help from their opponents and had some great players step up when it mattered.
They paid for it in 2022 and were fortunate to make the playoffs last season.
Ya know, yesterday I was so upset with the F.O. however today I've accepted it. It's no gonna change nor improve my life, so its no longer important to me. Iceberg time 😂
Would you call the Comanders and see how many picks they would give us for Parsons
Why would we trade our best player ? 🤣🤣🤣
@@KONEIL1775 2 seconds 2 thirds 1 fourth and I fifth plus the picks we already have could fix a ton of problems
I get it that the Cowboys don't want to grossly overpay for guys who oftentimes fail. At least pay mid-tier money (5 to 10 mil apy) for players that could help you. Structure the deals with a voidable year or 2 added, and you're not stressing your salary cap. Getting decent players will cost you some money, but free agency will greatly aid your team, along with good drafting and rookie undrafted player acquisitions. Cowboys are not helping by refusing to add quality free agents. Jeff is correct, in that the Cowboys are blowing this team up, and will let Prescott and Lamb walk in 2025. Probably trade Parson's next year for a draft haul and players (ala Herschel Walker trade). Come back strong in 2026.
The Cowboys need...
...NEW MANAGEMENT
Dak would take a big contract the second they put it in front of him, his priority is money. There's no way he is telling his agent to not answer the phone, he's sitting next to it desperate for a call.
What has the last 10 years of their form of team building got them?
We need a QB...........................been saying that since 2018
I really think the year Dallas paid Marco Rivera from the Packers and wound up in cap hell...that really scared them and they have been fearful ever since.
That was Parcells' idea too, even though Rivera was basically washed before he ever played a snap for the team.
After June gets here Lamb and DAk
will both be signed
Then Scrooge McDuck can be in the green
Hands off me money
Well all signs are this is Daks last season and the Joneses are moving on. It just doesn’t make any sense to drag that contract out. It hinders you from moving money and adding to this “all in” season they claim and the price tag only goes up the longer they wait so why wait a full year to do the extension.
We’re in some Deep 💩 aren’t we Jeff?
Linebacker please! We need linebackers bad !
I know that a lot of people will moan about what to do at QB, but I'll miss being a good to great defense and feeling you were in games no matter the QB play. Not advocating for Quinn (he wained and made bad decisions), but it's just that the old "bend but don't break" defense, that I'm sure will be coming back, is very hard to witness.
They’ve always been better at offense than defense so that’s odd
@@JeffCavanaugh Jeff, I'm merely stating that this defense wasn't as pathetic as say Rob Marinelli or Rob Ryan... we won games with a back up at QB... you didn't do that with other defenses in the past 10 years, right? That's all I'm saying.
@@FreddyMacT oh yea for sure
Who is going to play RB?
The Trey Lance trade is making more sense now. I think they're not extending Dak because of his agent. They don't want him getting the better of them again
THEY NEED TO LOSE MONEY> Losing Season, 5-12 something like that NFC east come into texas and kick their ass, revenue drops , dont buy tix, media goes crazy and all of it falls on Jerry because he run EVERYTHING!!! Thats what need sto happen to get him to hire a GM.
Dak is not getting restructure nope not happening and I'm glad after 8 years 2-5 playoffs deer in head lights man it's over
There is nobody left so why would they start free agency today all the good running backs that went to the teams
They already look like they want to tank the season and if Dallas is in a 2 year rebuild, they will screw that up too....dang it is so hard to be a fan
Sure glad Jerry sent a 4th rd pick to the niners for trey lance.who most likely don't play this yr n we will need to decide if we wanna pay him after.gteat deal
Well if the next two seasons are going to be trash then I guess we gotta wait until 2026-27 and put up with a couple of Campo years.
Potentially using the radio media to smear Daks image to make it seem like the Jones’ are in the right to let Daks contract play out or however unlikely, force Dak to want a trade out is nasty work
Jeff 100% incorrect about 2025
Connor Williams at Center for cheap?
It could take 10+ years to get a franchise qb
T Smith is best at Guard
Dak and France want him to get 55-60 mil a year ……lol hilarious .
Dude is 2-5 in the playoffs …. The lights are too bright for dak in January. He is tied for worst winning percentage in playoff history ! He also had 8 all pro on his team last year . What you are seeing now is what the falcons and bucs did this year pay a decent qb 35-45 mil and still have money to get into free agency ……
I’m sick and tired of seeing that deer in the headlight look from dak in January . I get it’s not easy to draft a qb but we haven’t drafted one in the 1st round since aikman . The goal is to win super bowls not nfc east championships
You seem to forget that the Cowboys got embarrassed in the playoffs 3 straight seasons to San Francisco and Green Bay. Dak has been a good quarterback for us but I can’t stomach him getting an extension. I could see a Russ scenario if he is extended. I guess I am saying I see both sides. Plus I can see the fan base supporting the Cowboys through a rebuild with 11 picks in 2025.
A rebuild is not a 1 year process. It's a multi-year and likely decade long process. It all depends on how long it takes to find a franchise QB, which means you're spending a first round pick on one every 3-4 years.
This is what so many of ya'll don't seem to understand. If you let Dak walk, you are a bottom 5 team for a long long time.
Look at how long it took teams like Buff, Cinn, and KC to find one. Look at how long it's taken Indy to find one after Luck. He retired 6 years ago and they still aren't close to finding one. Look at how long Wash has been trying to find one.
Don’t think they should go out and sign all the big names. Definitely think you should sign guys that are better than one or two million dollar players.
And will be kicked out of the first round of the playoffs again because our running back from Chokhawa state
Will rush for 640 yards
I'd rather pay a quality player to fill a position that I really need money is no means right now to Jerry Jones this man is a billionaire I would have signed one of those running backs that was out there this year
Why would they want to rebuild in this time of the era of football if that was the case they should to rebuild 4 years ago now they would have had the players to contend for a super bowl that just don't make sense they are trying to rebuild right about now
It's not Prescott that's holding the deal up it's Jerry Jones that's holding everything up
Go back when they sign Charles Haley and primetime that was the last time Jerry Jones went deep into the free agent and spent money and ever since then he never did that again it's always about the draft
And his good had this strategy worked? 1995 y'all.. were going on 30 years of team talent mismanagement. Great business sense. But horrible talent management skills. 1995.. America's Team... 🤦🏻♂️😔🤔
