Trance is generally a bit slower, and nightcore is fast and happy. Plus, nightcore is a type of remix made by a perfect combination of increasing tempo and pitch. Finally, nightstep is just nightcored dupstep (i believe).

Because Vocaloid fans are either not explaining it right, or well enough, or it's the art style people see first which leads them to assume that it is anime. Can't get upset with people that just don't understand it.
