    Project Description:
    ********************
In today’s episode, you will learn how to make your own low cost tankless instant water heater or on demand water heater at home. We will test the Mica Heater Bands, 12Vdc Glow plugs, Copper coil, and an aluminum heater exchanger to check if we can make an instant water heater using any of these. My target is to achieve an uninterruptible continuous supply of water at around 35 Celsius. So, without any further delay, let’s get started!!!

This is a great idea and it shows really clearly how much energy there is in propane and natural gas compared to electric service.
We actually built one of these for a hot tub we used on a camping trip. The hot tub was just a tarp in a pit we dug and a copper coil circulated the water through a wood fire. The heating element was a copper coil shape rather than a flat shape. I think this would be slightly more energy efficient as more water was in contact with the heating element and it worked in a smaller surface area (it also helped the water to circulate as our pump was not very strong).
I really liked how you showed the things that did not work. Did you ever make your plastic extruder and injection molding machine?
I wonder if you would ever attach the valve and lighter to an Arduino in a full version of the heater or if you would keep the valve manual for safety reasons?
    Great videos.

What I liked about this video:
    * good subject of interest to many
    * good demonstration of testing others' claims and subsequent exposure of scams
    * good pace and easy to understand
    What I disliked:
    * apparently unsafe practices are a bad example to viewers - were the glow plugs powered by full mains voltage, that you were holding by hand in a water container?
    * no efficiency calculation of any water heating solutions. It's arguable that the gas powered hot water system worked simply due to greater input energy.
    * no table of costs and efficiencies as a summary. How much did it cost to heat 1 litre of water to target temperature, and how does this compare to the cost of a commercially available water heating units (elec and/or gas)?
Looking forward to your next video!

glow plugs are 12vdc, i powered them using 12v battery

commercially available instant water heater is added in the description with amazon purchase link. Instant water heaters are really expensive.

I am thinking of making another one, which can supply hot water to the entire house. I will do the practical installation, and will also design a wireless control system.

Instant water heaters use 2800-4000 watts. You would need to use 25 or so glow plugs to get the same effect. You'd want to heat a small amount of water as it passes by so try to make it an install in the pipes. Anyways nice try.

thats what i tried to explain, its useless to use glow plugs

Thanks a lot for exposing the scam! As for your version of water heater, it is more sounding of course. Now, to make it portable, it is still challenging though. What I can think of, (by using your experiment) is a combination of portable gas stove, a copper tube folded in circular form with its diameter covering the stove upside, and a 12v water pump, so I can warm up the bath tub

Built a system that reserculates few times getting hotter. But it's better to have it heat up in a pan comfortable temperature then put in a cooler jug then use a pump to a faucet.

Propane stove maybe better option. Copper coil condenser over the flame water run through it.

Maybe you can use magnetic induction to be efficient.

You need about 20-30 glow plugs for a tank and about 50 for instant water heater

    • @gabbermaikel
      @gabbermaikel Před rokem

really depends on the type of glowplug you buy. You can just calculate how much heating power it has. The 1 he has he claims uses 10 amps at 12v? So its just 120W of heating, that not much. There are glowplugs that run around the 30 amp at 12v mark, they are allready going for 360 watts. At that point they become usefull as water heaters. Not fast water heaters, but it wil get the job done. But my 3kw home boiler isnt even instant hot water either, atleast not at a decent flowrate. So even with 10 of those 30 amp glowplugs you wont have an instant waterheater, but you should be able to heat up about 2-3 gallons in 10-15min.

"Think about the current it draws..."
REALLY? Direct electrical heating is the most efficient way of heating water... So... Any way you decide to heat the water, direct electric will always be most efficient.... He says it like somehow the glow plugs draw an insane amount of current and then waste it somewhere... 🤦
    Cool build though.
