The sad thing is Luigi was barely seen during the movie. But this part really warmed my heart
Well he's second character and the fact that since the beginning he was in bowser territory and survived show that even that he has some ressource incident him. That scene just made me remember probably the best anime moment of courage i ever saw in my life. Carefull Spoilers : ( that scene it make me remember was from season 3 of the Seven Deadly sins when Escanor fought alone a demon when all the others knight there were hopeless and could barely stand on their feets. That Escanor that was fighting that demon alone wasn't the strong bodybuilder he used to be, it was his true self after losing his magic that gived him godly strengh and power, he was there standing and fighting that demon alone with a little sword and wood shield while the knights far stronger than him at that moment looked at him risking his life for them. The weakest one was protecting the strongs ones and managed to won the fight and kill the demon. That scene was probably the first time I was actually trully scared for an anime character life and hope he would make it. So when Luigi protected Mario I could saw in him Escanor, one of the most powerfull anime character with a lion gold heart Who would protected his loves ones at any cost.

Reminded me of me and my brother. I was in a after school and this grade 7 liked to pull me chair out before I sat down and brother heard of this kid. One day my brother saw he's gonna do it again and just gave him a uppercut (he was 3 years old).
That kid's nose was bleeding and he complained so much, but my brother told my mother (when she asked what happened), "he was gonna hurt my brother". Always look out for one another and our bond won't be broken, I'm happy to have such a cool brother.
