For me it mostly just comes down to replayability. The mayhem levels and anointments don't click as well as OP levels and scanning for that matching grip in BL2.
BL2's part system was very much a case of less is more (Literally just get matching grip barring a few exceptions), although I would've preferred a scenario where something like BL3's part menu and/or what PythonPartNotifier does.

It's funny how I found your channel just hours ago watching your "Plays Borderlands 3 Once" video since I've been missing Borderlands in general then you give me another video just to comment for it. *Chefs Kiss* Kudos to you my friend, like seriously, you hit the nail on the head in that video and speak pretty fairly on how most of us feel with BL3.
Now to at least share what I actually think of Borderlands 3, well I wish I gave it a better chance and actually because of you I'm going to try to push to late game. But saying that with my experience as a whole I feel most people will have similar experiences to what I had. We came to BL3 just like you, ready and wanting after being addicted to the amazing world of Pandora, yet to our arrival we got this mess that leaves us with a sour taste while playing the game making me want to mute nearly every piece of dialogue besides a few that AREN'T interrupted by poor, overused, slapstick humor which sadly was one of my favorite things about Borderlands as a whole. Dialogue aside my next biggest issue when I played BL3 wasn't the fact of BL3 but the Epic Games Overlords that stopped my entire community of friends from wanting to buy it. Me being a complete fanboy I couldn't resist getting BL3 even if it was barred behind Epic bought the whole $120 bundle just to be left disappointed enough by the campaign to just complete the story once and all its side quests but I couldn't replay the game.
All that said you've inspired me to replay it and actually play some of the DLC I never touched so for real man thank you for giving me a little more love for this game.
Thaaaaaaaat being said anybody who actually reads this and wants to play BL3 sometime with someone if they are alone HMU cause I miss the borderlands and I want to play it with someone who has the same love for it like all of us do that watch videos like these
When I was a kid the xbox 360 had been out for a while and I was playing ratchet and clank on the ps2 for a hot minute , one christmas my dad went all out and bought me one (best present i have ever recieved) and the clerk told him he could get one game for free from one of the shelves. He happened to see a double game that came with two disks for two seperate games, one being Borderlands 1 and another being Bioshock 1, seeing this as a bang for your buck deal he got this... little did he know it would become the game series i played the most in the past 10 years! thanks dad. (Bioshock was incredible too)
it's funny for some one to say "this is not an RPG" because when Borderlands was new and the term looter shooter did not exists and people just said it was a FPS RPG
That lad u was playing with was an immature idiot. He called u a dckhead twice and u was only trying to help. Me and my boys take the pi ss out of each other all the time its normal but he rar just called u a dckhead twice with an unnecessarily rude tone. First time as u know was just an easy honest mistake u made which he didnt need to call u that then the second time u tried and succeeded to get a second wind as u was downed but then immediately went to revive him as he was downed, no way would u of known in that moment his health was gone that much and that he needed that kill that bad, u was doing ur best and that could of happened to any of us. There is taking the pi ss out of each other then there is literally just insulting someone which is what he did to u twice. Ive been studying psychology for just over 15 years now and in my humble opinion he was not coming at you from a good place bro. On his part them two digs at you was just spiteful and rude. Rude af 😅 but all jokes aside that was really rude and not needed at all tbh. You on the other hand, very good video mate and well put together nice easy listening and u explained all of your points very clearly. New sub 👍. Would love to see more bl3 content in the future on ur channel.
Postal 2 had a very delayed dlc as well

legit while watching this just reignited some thoughts and just.
Bl3 really is a mixed bag of quality in the weirdest ways, From how good the gameplay and skills are, to the horrid story. But the worst part is, there are moments that the story feels good to me. Some bits in each planet seem to get good at the last moment, the first time thought you may have to kill Zero if he's turned against you, only for him to swoop in and basically reassures you'll be fine. There's the talk with Troy on Eden-6 where you can see him starting to take his own spotlight from Tyreen and it seems like it'll go somewhere great but just....fizzles out. And then Ava, who genuinely feels like she's meant to be a real character but just, isn't written to react to the situation correctly, and the only time she is somewhat good is a cut moment with Lilith that got replaced with the....pretty bad eulogy thing in the ship (Although I still like Tannis just causally going "don't ask me to speak for your funeral Lilith"). Hell This is the first game where I actually find Claptrap annoying, when in the past he's just, kinda weird and funny, hell at the very least in the past games people dislike him but he's still seen as friendly and in the pre-sequel he actually calls everyone out on it. But in 3, I legit can't stand him.
Hell I'm still a bit off at the changes in Bl3. All Maliwan guns having that slow charge up can be annoying as hell, and the only ones without it are a only a hand full, but i think that's just my issue. One of the biggest annoyances is just...Your Vault Hunter doesn't matter. In only 1 cutscene of the game, it addresses you, and that's when Troy phase-locks you to have a talk. Otherwise the game only recognizes the side characters, or sidelines them for no reason, Like having Brick, Tina, and Mordecai on Eden-6 for a while apparently when, we weren't even going there for a WHILE. Given I'm typing this on the spot I bet you I'm forgetting other examples but, the story always has such, surface level feeling, and tries to draw more out of you when it can't, because it hasn't been balancing the humor enough. Keep in mind I still like Bl3 for the Vault Hunters and skills, and gunplay but...the story is just...really bad, even with the bits i like. side from the dlcs, i think those are probably the best bits.

Also I agree, Typhon is kinda annoying and i honestly dunno why either.
my problem with borderlands 3 its that it makes you feel so strong with the legendary drop% so it makes the story feel soo much more draggin like you could go and assault COV headquartes in like lvl 10 with all the broken weapons the world drops at you but you have to hear all the shit and horrible dialogs everytime

Hey can somebody tell me if the Zane digi clone throws the tediore weapons instead of just reloading? I am trying to do a chaos run with tediore weapons, 3x homing grenade, and the shield with the mini drone that follows you.
The worst part about borderlands 3 is the community. Because sometimes you can give a good critical review of the game and people will be like yeah I understand your point and have a civil conversation. But 9 times out of 10 all you have to say is oh well I don't think Ava is bad or I actually kind of enjoy eden 6 And then everyone treats you like you're Hitler. And another thing that people can hate you for is not disliking the story. Cuz while yes there is a lot of things that they could have done to made the story perfect however the story isn't abysmal like people are saying. If you want in abysmal story go for the barebones excuse for a story you get in borderlands 1.
Well I don't think they should yell at you, ava is objectively an awful character though
i originally bought borderlands 2 in maybe late 2020 or 2019 because of a video i saw of bl3, and i thought it looked fun but i couldnt exactly afford it so i just went and got the second entry instead. i absolutely HATED the game because i just didnt understand what the hell i was doing following the first mission and i just kinda dropped it after maybe an hour of gameplay. fast forward a year, maybe half, my brother also buys it and reintroduces me to the game, guiding me as to what im supposed to do and i actually find it really fun. i ended up finding it so fun that i went and spent nearly 300 hours doing every sidequest and getting every achievement on salvador, and then enjoying the rest of the characters with various builds because i just LOVED the looter shooter formula and the characters. i never really ended up getting the chance to enjoy op levels or level 72 or 80 because i didnt have either uvhm pack or the lillith dlc so i kinda just mucked around at level 61 doing random shit i found fun. in the end i found krieg and salvador the most fun, krieg because of the active playstyle you had to use in the bloodbath build i was using, and salvador because he's an op mexican midget. I now have 3 and have played through the game twice with zane and am now going to do the same shit i did in 2 and 100% it and pour hundreds of hours into it

Borderlands 1 was amazing. Borderlands 2 was even better. Borderlands 3 has the most fun gameplay but the story, characters, visuals, and everything other than pure gameplay gives me an aneurysm.
Wonderlands actually makes the gameplay even worse. Its painful. Horribly. Painful.
It’s pretty simple. If bl3 was even close to the great writing that bl2 had, I’d still be playing it every day and it’d be one of my favorite games ever, along with every other borderlands fan, I’d imagine. But here I am replaying bl1 and 2. It’s crazy to me how badly they butchered the third game. I personally couldn’t tell if they tried too little or too hard, because whatever it was, it clearly didn’t work. This is only for me of course but I refuse to let BL3 be canon. Maya’s death was straight up bs and Ava as a whole should’ve never been made.
I'll be honest. BL3 never did it for me, even in the gameplay department. I replayed bl2 maybe 10 times, but I haven't even finished bl3 on my second playthrough. This is very VERY subjective, but bl3 was a complete disappointment on every level, I really tried to enjoy it, but I just couldn't.

The story is bad, so is the writing, game play was fun, best gunplay of any borderlands, but dear god please stop writing like this gearbox its abysmal
The Commander Crackwh0re DLC was extremely underwhelming. The Guns Love and D1cks DLC was extremely cringe.
The real question is, will you play wonderlands?
