The thing that holds me back from trying out a hurdy gurdy is not the difficulty, not the price (okay maybe) but the fact that you need an enginering degree to tune and adjust it and stuff xD
For me it's Definitely the price 🤣
I would love to play one but yeah the price and I can't play an instrument due to my brain not working to good.

I'm a Turk, we have some set of authentic bowed instruments like Yayli Tanbur, Klasik kemence, Rebap, Iklık, kemane vs. Some of them originates from central asia and some of them created in Anatolia, mostly in a simplistic way. But that instrument, hurdy gurdy. Is it so sweet, technical and practical :) And has nice drone tones.

I've been trying to figure out how the trompette strings work and this has the closest description I could find. And up close slow motion would be interesting as a detailed video.

That is an instrument I find very interesting and appealing. I am writing High Fantasy, and have a character, a wandering princess who plays music. Originally I had her play a magical violin, then added a magical electric guitar and had her use one or the other depending on her preference. Now that I know about the hurdy gurdy, I think I am going to replace the princess' violin and electric guitar for a hurdy gurdy, it looks more exotic, more magical, and also very complex in its construction, as something only nobles and royalty would be able to afford in a fantasy world. Where can I learn more in depth about it? Any place where I can chat with musicians willing to aid a fantasy writer? Any features or add-ons that would be more likely seen in a hurdy gurdy designed for a solo musician? Thanks :)

When I started this channel, I dedicated it solely to Eluveitie covers and I was convinced it will stay like this forever :D I wanted to come up with a good name for this "realm dedicated to Eluveitie". So I just changed the "s" in Helvetios for "n" and it turned into a name for a land kinda. :)
