- This video will show you how to remove the front door panels and door speakers on a 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 ford fusion (this was a hybrid version but they should all mostly be the same)
Installed Alpine SPS-610C 6.5" 2-Way Type-S Series (I bought the Speakers Only without the tweeters) I kept the stock tweeters installed and they sound and work great. This speakers is sold as a component set new but I just bought the 6 1/2" Speakers only.
I can't guarantee that any other speaker will work besides the one mentioned but I have a hybrid and it comes with a device that helps adjust the frequency of the stock speakers to help get rid of the engine noise cutting on and off. These speakers are said to have the closest to stock speaker freq. I would think a non-hybrid fusion could use any 6 1/2" speaker as long as the depth is the same or less than the alpine sps-610c magnets. Feel free to comment below.
Not sure if the speaker cut out process will work on other Ford's with this same factory speaker but you can comment below if you come across another model or cross reference the part number of this speaker at a ford dealer.
Good luck! Figured I would post this considering I couldn't find a video like this online. Only found short videos on how to remove the for panel.
Followed the instructions. Wasn't bad. The only thing I did different was my alpine replacements came with wires for speakers which had a small and large plug on each, so instead of adding females to the end of the existing wires, I soldered theirs to the 2 connectors on the original frame. Only took a few minutes to do and that way had plenty of wire to rotate speaker. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing David! This helped me fix my broken Ford Fusion passenger side speaker. Pulling the panel off seemed easy if I started both at the bottom left then the top left by the mirror. Once those are off the others seemed to pull off easier.
My passenger side went also. Started with a small buzzing and progressed to an irritating noise whenever the engine ran. Had to send most of the sound to the back until I changed them out.
Thank you! Followed it all the way through and made it a breeze.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I thought I was in trouble until I found this. I used my Dremel to make short work of the cutting and got it done much faster than I thought it would take after I saw the speaker assembly.
Glad I can help. My speakers are still going strong.
Thanks! Just replaced both my speakers using your video!
Thankyou for making this video is was extremely helpful !!!!
Appreciate this video! Worked perfectly for what I was trying to do. 👍
i like this method, the only question i have is how much speaker depth does it give you in inches before the speaker magnet hits the window bracket?
Thanks , I did the same thing with my new Infinity reference components. Worked great.
This video worked great! Thanks.
Dude use pry tools. OMG. I almost cried.
Yeah I've bought a set since this video. You only have to break and scratch so many panels before you break- down and buy a tool
It’s not that deep
About to replace these very speakers in my Fusion, happy I came across this video sir 👍 you did a great job. I like your approach.
lol you crack me up. i hope it's not that tough (anymore). about to find out. hoping you can just use any replacement 6.5" speaker with speaker harness. was looking to find out about the tweeter. my fusion tweeters make no sound (nice decor ha!). if i were to upgrade to component speakers was wondering how difficult it'd be to 'replace' them. i know... prob don't need them... but seems weird that they're there and don't do anything.
Also keep in mind some of the cars tweeters are not installed there just plastic covers behind the screens. I only noticed this in the back doors of the low in models but they may do this in the really cheap fusion models up front as well I'm not sure. If I Were you I would make sure that the plug is there behind the door and just by the factory tweeters off of eBay. They sound great and have mini crossovers Built-in.
With all the extra work u did i was hoping u were gna solder those leads to the speaker but i was wrong
I didn't have my solder gun at the time I made the video. Plus I wanted to be able to remove them if needed.
@@davidhuffman8100 understandable
Great video. I needed this. Do you still like these speakers after having them for a while? I'm trying to decide which speakers to get for my 2017 Fusion. The ones it came with were garbage. I couldn't believe it. My 2011 Fusion had awesome speakers. Thanks and have a good day.
Ther is 2 speaker on each side of the doors, no video how to exchange the top ones
Yeah you doing the most 😂 I installed kickers on my baby
hi i have a sync 2 in my 2015 hybrid where are the tweeters located and do i need to replace them with those speakers
How has the set up been so far?
speakers sound great and much better than stock even with the stock stereo. I am finding out that the stock tweeters are cracking when almost all the way up. I'm going to try and sauder in an inline crossover after the stock tweeter cap and see if that helps. (there's a small capacitor saudered into the stock tweeter that I'm going to bypass with a better crossover)
Well dang your doing more work then you have to 😂 wth
I know rite 😂
My luck I'm gonna crack every piece of my door trying to get those pieces out
Morales 6 x 9 song clean inside the fusion
Why do you have to go through all that trouble? they don't have a direct replacement?
Thanks for this video. I have a 2013 Fusion with driver door speaker rattling or bass distortion when it gets warmed up. I had the dealer replace it while it was under warranty and then about 2 months later it started to rattle again. Very cheap speakers I guess or is it possible that the main stereo unit is the cause of the rattle/distortion noise? I ask because the speaker doesn't rattle/distort all the time. It's fine on cold mornings for about an hour till it warms up then it starts to rattle/distort when a song with heavy bass is played even on low volume. Anybody else have this problem?
I guess it wouldn't hurt to change the speaker anyway. That rattling is very annoying!
Keene T same to mine 2015 sony, i tried to change whole mmi with amplifier, same crack n pop on bass at 60% volume, next i will try to disconnect door sockets for fast problem detection, i guess some speaker gone bad, and yes some time at low temperature just fine no problem
Had my 2014 Ford Fusion for about 18 months and just started having this issue with my driver side speaker... very annoying and seems exactly as you described. Isn’t noticeable until after a few minutes of driving and playing music. Wonder if it is the speaker or the amplifier, etc... don’t want to drop a bunch of money to figure it out, but man it is annoying when you’re trying to listen to good music!
Had the same issue with mine which lead me to replace them, no issues so far! Wonder why the driver door speaker always has so many issues for folks...
@@SouthernRailfan01 It's been a year since I wrote that and I haven't changed my speakers yet. For whatever reason they just stopped rattling. But if they start again I'll probably change them. What kind of speakers did you changed to?
@@Keene88 I would often have the same thing happen, they would go in and out constantly until they finally blew for what I would presume. I got some Kicker CS Series speakers for mine, they’re great!
I hate how the speakers go into protective mode when the bass hits on certain songs that have really high bass. It also turns down the people singing in the song. I ended up buying 2 12 inch subs to bring up a notch it sounds good. I don’t know if buying after market kickers speakers for the doors would still make it go into protective mode. What do y’all/you think? 🤔
If you’re using the stock stereo you can disable the factory EQ processing by using FORScan
@@bv7461 thanks. Fast forward 2 years later I did a full surround sound upgrade on it and it’s not going into protective mode. Now I get to enjoy the music .
Hi David..
I installed complete audio system in my car..
(cd player, amp, front speakers + crossover and tweeters, rear speakers, subwoofer, and all new wires)...
It's sounds good, but I have a problem with tweeter noise....
(sometimes when I press brake or put on 20+)
(when it's on sillent,,, sounds like plastic bag sh sh sh sh sh,,,everytime)
Power wire is under the car(so far from any wire or RCA cables)
AMP: alpine pdx v9 (900w rms)
front speakers+ tweeters: alpine spr-60c ( 220w rms)
rear speakers alpine spr-50 (180w rms)
subwoofer (500w rms)
power wire :4 gauge
speakers wire: 12 gauge
AMP gain is on NOMINAL (fabric setups)...
please help me..Thank You
sounds like a grounding issue. could be the stock head unit. I would try plugging in a cellphone with a headphone to rca cable and plug it in at low settings to your amp and see what it does. If it fixes the problem then depending on where your rca wires were tapped into can tell you whatever behind that is the issue. possibly head unit or rca wires running near any powered wires. In the past I had allot of issues in an expedition with door speakers and tweeters burning up because the sound going into the 4 channel amp was so terrible the amp was hurting the speakers even more. as soon as I changed the head unit it stopped right away and sounded a hole lot better.
it doesnt matter if air leeks around the speaker, there are holes all over the door ! lol
The speaker needs to seal to the door opening. The plastic panel inside the door forms the "baffle" for loading. Look for foam tape to build up the surface of whatever other speaker you install or you will suffer wimpy bass.
Does anyone know the speaker size for the 16 Ford Fusion ?
Doors are 6.5"
Rear deck are 6x9
Center front and rear are 3.5"
Hope this helps...
@@hipo4eyes1 thank you! I really needed this
@@justinnoriega2858 Yw brother. Good luck
Can I fit this in a 6 x 8 speaker on my door
I have 6x9’s in my 2013 so yeah
How hard was it to install a component tweeter in the door panel?
trailmug1 I just added a drop of super glue gel between the frame and the alpine tweeter. The tweeters clip in the existing opening but are a little lose inside. Maybe just put some foam tape between the two also.
David Huffman Sweet, thanks for the info. If the fusion has the 6x9 woofers in the rear shelf, I worked out a way to fit an aftermarket subwoofer and amp to the harness for them. Will get around to making a video someday.
@@trailmug1 Have a 2016 and want to save trunk space. How did those 8's work out and which model did you use?
Adapters avail btw
hi i have a 2014 fusion se w/ the large screen and 4 speaker w/ tweeters. Stock. Put in new Focal speakers and.
They sounded poor. I was really surprised. the stock ford speakers with the little magnets sound way, way, better they rock Ive been putting in afterrmarket sound systems on every car Ive owned and this is the 1st time the stock rocked. The factory system is engineered for the light speaker. anybody want a good deal on some focal speaker.
Craig Mckinnon I just finished a video and an installation of an 8-inch Android head unit that upgraded my 4 in stock head unit. The stock head unit suck but sounds way better than my Android head unit that I just installed. I think I have a faulty Android unit so the guys sending me another board. Hopefully that fixes the issue because it's extremely quiet and when I go into the settings to crank up the volume adjustment it just starts getting distorted out on the Android head unit. My only other option is to buy a power pack that ties into the RCA outputs and into my door speakers which will make my Alpine door speakers sound much better. But I shouldn't have to do that considering the Android radio should have gave me a lot better wattage than the factory one
Craig Mckinnon male site you didn't get the positive and negative terminals mixed up. Plus the ohms need to be the same as well. Should be stock 4ohm speakers
Used chutchfeild adapter they said it would be even better. Wrong!
Did you unplug your ANC (active noise canceling) microphones?
Funny that will pop out just by hand....the door handle is ts the difficult one
Update. I've been searching online for rear deck speakers and notice that they are now making an adapter plate for the speakers in the front and rear doors. Saw these on eBay for $11. Did not buy them or try them but if someone wants to go ahead and let us know.

Only problem is they don't have the connection for the factory plug on them
When you install the speaker back in the car, is the top of the speaker the + and - connections are with the 2 wires? Or is that facing the bottom when installed? Thank you in advance :)
Nathan Nguyen not site what you mean but the speaker plug should be to the side not up or down when mounting the bracket on. Or simply in a way that the plug can reach it. As for positive and negative terminals. They are on the same side on factory speaker and aftermarket.
Thanks for the reply, do you know if the 6.5 in door speaker and the tweeter use separate channels or if they share 1 channel with a crossover? Thanks again :)
Nathan Nguyen its 1 channel for both speakers. They install a small crossover on the stock tweeter. The set I bought confess with a new tweeter and an in line crossover.
David Huffman Since they're both on one channel does that mean they use the same amount of watts from the amp?
Nathan Nguyen they share the same wattage/ channel/ wire and eve ohms. Like I showed in the video. Three speaker wire runs into the 6.5 speaker and then back out and straight to the tweeter.
If it's that much trouble I don't want to do it heck nawl I'll add a sub in my trunk it's not that serious
Is that all you need to boost the sound in the car?
gang101 Na I wold recommend you getting after market speakers I got 2 subs in the fusion but looking to get after market speakers for the doors, it just sounds too low maybe because of the protective mode that the factory speakers go into. Hopefully it has nothing to do with the radio because I can’t really find any after market dashes for the car to install a stereo.
I was following along until you cut the speaker suspension. I'll bet they blew quickly!
Speakers I installed work great. Cut the old factory speaker trim/suspension to cut out the speaker from the frame to use it as a factory style mount for my new speakers.
This is doing too much just buy from Crutchfield they give you plug and play wiring and mounting hardware specific for the fusion...What’s up with that tweeter though, might have to change that too.
DoorisJ I just purchased another alpine component set that arrives on 8/2 with the tweeters. Im going to move my front stock tweeters to the rear and install the new ones up front as well as the speakers in the back doors. I have a feeling my distortion from turning the stock radio up is from the stock tweeters now. Don't know about the speaker kits but ripping out the stock speakers isn't that hard at all and will most likely save you close to $20 per door compared to the price of kits on crutchfield. I'd rather buy from ebay if I did need them. As for me the stock cut out works better in my opinion.
David Huffman , So I ended up getting some kickers with sep tweeters. I also bought the mounting hardware ($9 pair) and a connector that plugs into the oem speakers ($12 pair). Crutchfield does offer both of those for free if you buy your speakers with them... The front tweeter is actually built into the door panel and can easily be replaced. I wired my kicker tweeters into the included splitter thing. I was also planning to move the old tweeter to the back but the oem tweeter needs a special plug that’s in the front doors only. You could rewire this but it would take forever. Just buy a new pair of components and tweeters for the rear.
DoorisJ well $9 a pair isn't bad but that's still $9 plus the $12 for the adapters. I'm just cheap. I did however find out that my stock one non touch sync system apparently doesn't send the same wattage to the rear door speakers because they are no where near the volume I get out of the front speakers. I'm guessing this is from the head unit. I'm sure if I upgraded the head unit they would work fine. Haven't had the time to pull out the unit and wire up a temporary aftermarket radio to see if it makes any impact. I know the nicer se and titanium cats have built in amps plus more speakers. I habe the basic s hybrid package. If anyone has knowledge on the back speakers being quieter than the front let me know.
David Huffman yeah that sucks. I can’t understand why they would be a different power amount. Good luck
This looks like it sucks
Oh wow you just destroyed a McIntosh speaker worth 10x's the one's your replacing with lol just kidding, informative thanx
