Atheism and Secularism are two different subject matters. Secularism is the equalizer of all religions. Secularism is not anti religion. It just allows all faiths including no faith to express their beliefs peacefully and coexist with each other.

Excellent discourse by Dr Taimur Rahman. A secularist can never become a a apostate, while Muslim can and do. Cutting a long story short, study Barrister MA Jinnah's life . he was an Ismaili not strictly a Muslim , married a Zoroastrian , later divorced her , begat a girl who like her father Married another Zoroastrian. MA Jinnah had a secular orientation. If the founder of this Republic was secular , the rest is quite irrelevant. Declaring Ahmedis .a s a minority class was a mea culpa committed by ZAB. If the SCP can restore his dignity 50 years later they can also retract ZAB's faux pas. Ch Zafar Ullah the first FM was an Ahmedi, and refused to pray at the Janaza of the Quaid e Azam. According to Ch Jinnah was a kafir. BTW Secular minded people will never decimate one another for their beliefs, while Religiously inclined people inevitably do. In fact the first three Caliphs after the demise of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) , were assassinated barring Hazrat Abu Bakr who was very old and lasted a mere three years. To bring home the point Hazrat Ali the Prophet son in law, had a full fledged battle with Hazrat Ayesha the prophet's wife called the 'Battle of the Camel" in which 35 k Muslims were massacred on either side. Islam itself was on a very tricky wicket right from the start. No wonder the infighting continues with growing ferocity. BBTW Muslims are 1.9 billion population wise out of a Total of 8.3 billion who dot the Planet earth!!

Appreciate your zeal and fervor which is still there. The bottom line is, "Wicked persons always try to find some excuse for their wickedness". Your lecture is thought provoking and your focus is on SECULARISM mostly in this lecture. Having said, Dr. Sahab, my question to you is why people of Pakistan are not able to understand these very simple and basic things even after almost 78 years, and why do they vote for those politicians mostly who are actually not their representatives? This is the real question which needs to be addressed. It is though true that most people are not very well read, but anyhow they are not insane. They are directly facing the consequences of wrong policies day and night and why they are still voting for the same people again and again? How comes that all the Great teachers, journalists, genuine politicians, intelligentia, poets, writers etc. etc. etc. including you, could not educate the masses to bring about a little change at least which could give them a little bit of DECENT LIFE. This is due to the GEOGRAPHY and the federating units of country, which make Pakistan. Unless and until this is understood, no political force or no political party would ever be able to make a workable system to run Pakistan. Look, we are not one nation, though we are now being a nation state called Pakistanis, but in reality we are historically Pakhtoons, Balochs, Sindhis and Punjabis. After showing unity for the purpose of achieving Pakistan, it was very foolish to expect all these units to start behaving altogether in a different way and behaving as one unit. In the subcontinent of India all these units were living together for thousands of years with their own cultures and manners and still having their own religions as well. This was what was in the mind of Quid e Azam, and that's why he chose a Hindu as law minister and a Qadiani as Foreign minister, purely on their capabilities without giving any consideration to what their personal religious believes were. People are people, they cannot be treated like building, lands or mountains. But sadly they were treated like that and the ONE UNIT thought people, by force imposed upon them this unnatural thinking or philosophy or religion, don't know what can you call it. This tension is still unresolved and we still do not have a common workable system. Though we have a Constitution, thankfully but it was changed many times by Dictators. At the same time there is still a very powerful lobby who think themselves above the law. So, Dr. Sahab, though your efforts are commendable, but we need very very sensible Political leadership, who needs to have clarity in their minds as well that Pakistan is already a one unit and ikt is for the sake of administration and run the system smoothly not for the sake of denying the people of different provinces and their aspirations, cultures, languages, and their ways of lives which were not developed overnight and can never be changed overnight and if they were to change it should be left to them because these things happen gradually and automatically with the passage of time. Teachers, poets, intelligentia, etc. etc. etc are all necessary, but what is lacking is Visionary Politicians who always are the backbone of Nations. How will they be created, I have no clue, only God knows better.
In any given society the state is the most powerful institution. State narratives are very difficult to overcome. And state has promoted religious extremists and fundamentalists in the name of Jihad. That is the reason why it is difficult to overcome these confusions.

A clarification.
The "Ulema" mentioned in the Munir report are not really ulema. They are Maulvis. The definition of a Muslim is very clear in the Ahadis.
Molvis on the other hand themselves are secular and not Islamic. They use sectarianism for their material objectives, even support gay rights for themselves for the child molesters among them. They are secular and liberal in every sense of the word. Including the hypocrisy they demonstrate is similar to hypocrisy the Secular Liberal world demonstrates. And due to their sectarianism, they have no connection to Islam in the light of Quran.

The reason the Muslims are disunited and at loggerheads with each other is either politics or personal, not Islam. The debate over the separation of religion and politics is as old as mankind. Where did Islam advocate that if Muslims follow true Islam, they will prosper in worldly affairs? Rather when a Muslim is on the right path, he will suffer and he has to endure all suffering with patience. إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ .
The liberal view has always been tilted towards some "ism", including secularism therefore nothing new.
You are right while highlighting serious disunity among Muslims but wrong when asking to disengage and focus on worldly issues more than Islamic ones.
The right advice in my opinion is to وَاﻋْﺘَﺼِﻤُﻮاْ ﺑِﺤَﺒْﻞِ ﷲِّ ﺟَﻤِﯿﻌًﺎ وَﻻَ ﺗَﻔَﺮﱠﻗُﻮاْ.

Islamic holy scripture (Not other references) suggest Islam has only two expectations from State i.e. Justice & consultation, both are secular in nature. Therefore, two statements of Quaid Azam 1) Pakistan formed on the principles of Islam 2) State has nothing to do with your religion, do not contradict each other but rather make complete sense.

If religion has nothing to do with political/geopolitical differences nowadays then why predominantly Christian Caucasian NATO invades/attacks only non-caucasian, non-christian countries only. Thry mainly invade the muslim regions of Asia and Africa. Turkey a NATO ally receives discriminatory treatment because they are majority Muslims after all. Article 91(3) of the Constitution stipulates that the Prime Minister must be a Muslim. This means that non-Muslims are explicitly barred from holding the office of Prime Minister in Pakistan.
Sir one thing i really want you to know is the differentiation of ahmadi sect and other islamic sect ! First i want to clear my pov for you so you dont lable me as biased, i do belive that there should not be any discrimination in the name of religion. We can not progress with marginalizing those minorities who doesn't agree religiously with you. And if there are competent ahmadis or any other person, they should be not only in the public office but should also be head of state aswell. But the case of ahmadis is quite different than other islamic sects because ahmadis are highly organized than anyother sect. They have a unanimous leader(khalifa) and central committee and you can not even imagine the ammount of power they possess. They not only make the policy of the whole jammat but they even can take decision for one's individual life aswell. They have their own taxing systems. Their own data basses. One can not escape from the organization and be a "free" ahmadi. Its mandatory for every ahmadi to take oath in which they are told to place the interests of jammat on the highest than any other intrest even their own personal intrests are at second let alone the intrest of the country or their political party or their laboure union or anyother. So, their participation in any kind of activity becomes highly doubtful. I want them to give any kind of solid justification for their "freeness" to join and belive in any kind of political philosophy with doesn't align with the intrest of jammat.
They are a tiny minority in Pak. They can never overwhelm the vast majority of people.
@@Taimur_Laal The problem here is not of overwhelming of a minority on a majority, the problem here is within the jammat and that is the amount of controll their centralized body posses on an individual. The transparency from any ahmadi member would always be doubtful whether he will backstab his fellow comrades if there comes a conflict between the interest of the party and the interest of jammat. Which were the allegations on Chaudhry Zafar ullah Kahn that his decisions were highly influenced by Mirza Nasir (3rd khalifa) and frankly their elite is just like a typical elite who doesn't care about poor people in general.
