- Chettinad cuisine is famous for its fiery yet yummy flavors. Sri Priya Mess that is situated opposite the famous 'cinema bungalow' on AR Street is famous for serving authentic Chettinad cuisine. We had a small exploration of the traditional mansions at Karaikudi that announces the charm and lux of the late 19th century and early 20th century. Bungalows with 1000 windows and mansions that were constructed in the shape of a chariot cherished me.
Being a foodie, I was more keen on the Chettinad flavours. I started my lunch with the elumbu soup (lamb bone soup) at Sri Priya mess. It was just the beginning; we enjoyed our meals with eeral curry (prawns curry), njandu gravy (crab gravy), Chettinad chicken curry, kaadai curry (quail curry), and many more.

Hi Ebbin, again, as usual, a nice video. Actually you should do at least 5 videos on chettinad cuisine as it is very varied and elaborate. They have equally good and lip smacking vegetarian fare as well (if time permits, visit Hotel (Restaurant) Annapoorna, near old bus stand).
By the way, the way you turn the plantain leaf (after finishing the meal) was wrong. It should be the other way round - the reason being that there are chances that one could spill the left over if you did the way you did. Cheers.

Priya mess is the right destination for authentic chettinad cuisine at affordable prices. Also there is a five star hotel called The Bangla in Senjai, karaikudi. They also provide authentic chettinad food but costly.
