Nice to see my backyard. Told many people it's worth a visit. I can see it from the house, the other side from the Haywoods. It's got bits for everyone, ancient woodland, heathland, WW1 & WW2 history. Tolkein was supposedly inspired for his Ents (guardians of tthe woodland in Lord of the rings). Really enjoyed it!!

Hell Yer... maybe you can take me for a walk then i would like to see the older woodland and work it more...

    Some great pictures there Paul.
    Thank you for sharing..
Beautiful place Cannock Chase, but totally a different place at night..
I don’t know the names of all the areas, but there’s shall we say things there, that might not make people smile..
Do you believe in the paranormal/Supernatural realms Paul ?
Find the tree structures and you’ll know it’s definitely not dead trees fallen, structures made, and humans couldn’t make them..

My first camping trip was to Cannock Chase. Wild camped all over the UK since then but it gave me my first taste of the open air life.
Groot is amazing, but to my generation he's an Ent. That bridge is a total honeypot, how come I've never seen it before. If I'm ever down in the Midlands again I'll make a trip to it.

Most enjoyable, I have never been there and yet its only 25 miles away from where I live, I love that old tree but I had never heard or seen it before.....Thanks for giving us a reminder of my own backyard....and thank you for taking us there....

Cannock Chase is a place I know reasonably well as I've done quite a bit of walking there but I had never heard of Groot prior to this video. He reminded me of the second Lord of the Rings film (The Two Towers) the main forest character being Treebeard one of the Ents (ancient shepherds of the forest) Excellent photos as usual and one I suspect you will return to in mistier conditions. 👍👏

Nice series of images. Specifically liked the weir photo at 5:06, and the side lit trees at 27:08 and 27:16.. Groot was fun.

Paul, first vlog I've watched of yours and loved it; Great work! Well impressed if you walked all the way from Great Haywood to Rugeley. I was at Exeter bridge today and the water was at least 4ft higher than on your visit, so no weir at all, just high water everywhere!!. The old 16C bridge is amazing, isn't it!. I found it a couple of months ago: facebook.com/photo?fbid=10158434010243444&set=pcb.1884003218408276

Not yet found 'Groot', but not given up the search! :-)
Keep up the great work. Off to watch some more of your vlogs now. Cheers, Ken.

Know this area well, (not far from my house) was over there in October and that narrow 16th c bridge was closed due to covid, nice to see it open again, as I know the area I know how ruddy far you walked, no wonder you were out of breath. I also know of that waterfall on Hagley Hall Park but never been to it.

From the punchbowl towards stepping stones, on your right just before you get to the stepping stones. Or come from Fredas grave car park, but you have to keep heading left towards the bottom of the hill..
