  • This perch is a popular spot among Pacific swallows and Bee-eaters in the area as it is quite tall and is relatively open so it makes spotting flying insects (their prey) easier.
While they aren't flying, they tend to rest here too and preen (maintain) their feathers. This swallow was preening before being disturb and effectively chased away by another swallow. This was the second or third time it happened.
Looking closely at the behaviour of the second swallow, it seems to be behaving more like a juvenile than an adult so it may have been begging for food/attention from the first swallow. Supporting this would be the fact that it flew away soon after the first swallow did instead of staying.
    Species name: Pacific swallow
    Scientific name: Hirundo tahitica
    Location: Malaysia
    Category: Nature, Wildlife, Birds, Swallows

Thank you Dave! The conditions were favourable for recording video that day, not too windy!
