Why do some Christians grow and others seem to stay right where they are for years and years? Well, in this video I'm going to give you 5 reasons why this is true. I encourage you to think about whether these are true in your life and if so, let us know below which one(s) of these you are personally struggling with. Enjoy and I hope this is helpful!

I agree with what you said like I even ask people to point out ways I can grow and that I'll be there amd do the same for them but it's like this generation doesn't care to do accountability. The worldly influence is a big one too.

You talked about purpose, buy I don't have the spiritual maturity to make teaching others my purpose to grow. What are some other ways I can motivate myself to learn to love God more? I have prayed for discipline.

The world, the flesh and the devil influencing both. TV Pastors as a daily devotional and lukewarm passive Pastors not encouraging mentorship spiritual disciplines for growth outside or inside a sermon. Not seeking to develop a deeper relationship with God are all additional ways, I’m a witness. It’s important for mature believers to intentionally seek out baby Christians and new believers to mentor them. We all must intentionally surrender our will to God and seek him daily for guidance-Ephesians 2:10🕊Psalms 32:8

Justin Durham - praying for you to step away from THIS lawlessness that you are being taught and now (trying) to teach and ,is lead to others. Praying that you step away from this and ask JESUS to show you the Way the Truth and the Light
PS- Most of my prayers have been answered in Jesus’ Name. I pray for your safety in turning to or returning to what is REAL versus what so many are falsely being taught this past 30+ years. What a shame in all this worldly chaos one must endure before they come to the True realizations that Christ IS, WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE

I didn't really start growing in my faith and relationship with God until I got out of the prosperity gospel. I used to think that the Bible was about receiving blessings and asking God for stuff all the time, and Christ was just insurance to get out of hell and he could heal you when you needed it. But when I realized the prosperity gospel was false teaching. I literally had to learn to read the Bible all over again bc I had the wrong understanding of it. Not to mention, bc I didn't have a good understanding of it, I did a lot of sinful things and I didn't really understand why we shouldn't do them besides "it's bad".
But now I truly understand that the gospel is about redemption, Christ loved us so much he redeemed us when he died on the cross, and bc we accept that, bc he forgave us of all our sins, we turn from our old selves and follow him. Not to mention, we owe God everything bc he is our creator, in him we LIVE and have our. being, not "God, gimme this, or gimmie that!" But "Lord, what can I do for you, and I'm going to do all it takes to worship, serve, and follow you daily".

It really saddens me that when I’m growing in my relationship with God and I’m so passionate that when I look around at other Christians they aren’t as excited or willing to grow as I am sometimes. I myself am guilty of not growing at times because of discouragement around me and just feeling alone in all this at times... I also am guilty of some of these 5 reasons as well. I just wish other Christians were as zealous or excited as I am and willing to grow as much as me. Please pray for me.

Redeemed exactly, being codependent isn’t it . Sometimes we are called to be alone during our personal growth process.. to learn to trust God. it’s not fun always, it’s like a desert..keep seeking for God and his answer, pray, then fast if you must . Be silent and be alone with God so you can hear him when he speaks. He’ll help you with those scriptures. If it’s his will, he’ll find you a teacher.

    • @josedopwell9645
      @josedopwell9645 Před 4 lety +2

@@mwendia did you consider that if Jesus is the only teacher a person should have, why are members of the body of Christ given THE GIFT OF TEACHING? (See:1Corinthians 12:28, Ephesians 4:11, Romans 12:6-7) Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, who listened to the gospel as preached and TAUGHT through Paul and Silas, brothers and sisters in Christ should not settle for ONLY hearing teaching through others. We should/must all be DILIGENT STUDENTS ON OUR OWN TIME of our Heavenly Father's word. For our physical bodies we don't only eat once a week. But too often we spiritually starve ourselves between scriptural meals. Some brethren are gifted at teaching, while others are gifted at evangelizing, encouraging, etc. Not everyone is gifted at doing everything.

A lot of believers live in bondage from childhood trauma, which leads to addictions and seeking out worldly comforts. Emotional pain requires that they go through lessons they don’t even know they need. In my life, I’ve learned some really hard lessons by repeating my mistakes until it became so painful I had to change. That’s why addicts hit a wall or reach bottom. When it’s so painful there’s basically nowhere to go but up, that’s when spiritual awakening happens and spiritual healing and growth are possible. Not all embrace the changes, but the ones who are determined not to suffer will allow themselves to be helped, have accountability, and grow.

I tried to do the same for some fellow Christians a few weeks ago and i did realize that they were in the beginning stages ( baby Christians) of their walk with Christ. I learned also patience is key to helping those around you that are still on milk and to be kind while doing so . you might get " i don't believe that means that " or " but why would it mean that" a lot lol but please continue to show them in only Scripture the Truth of what it means . Basically Scripture with Scripture. The Holy Spirit has shown me that love is far more greater and that not everyone is not on the same level in their walk in Christ.
I am not going to lie i do get extremely sad when i see some who teach but do not understand what they read because of was something that was traditionally installed in them since their younger days and they did not actually read / study Scripture to know for sure themselves. As some believe that they can lose a very special FREE Gift such as SALVATION which is given freely by Almighty GOD by His Wonderful Grace. Something we can NEVER earn . man can not work for their Salvation. this teaching of works for Salvation is contrary to The Word of GOD and is NOT the Gospel which saves. It is what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did on the cross which saves us . ( the ONLY Sacrifice acceptable for all mankind) . Not trusting in the Lord is a way to also hinder your spiritual growth in Christ. THE ALMIGHTY TRIUNE GOD IN HEAVEN IS YOUR ONLY WAY TO GROW IN HIM.
    John 14:26 ESV
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
    Romans 8:26 esv
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
    Galatians 5:22-23 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
    Acts 2:38 ESV

That's not always true. If you don't already have a relationship with that person and decide that your first interaction with them is going to be a correction and criticism session, don't be surprised if they snap at you. Who wants to hear negative things from a stranger? Also, if one's approach is harsh, condescending, "holier than thou," etc. you will likely receive backlash. It says in Proverbs that a soft answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger. Also it says pleasant speech increases persusaiveness. In Ephesians it says speaking the truth IN LOVE. It's easy to say true things to people. But taking the time to consider what we say and the possible impact it might have on the other person is NOT something that comes naturally. It's very easy to dish out behavior that we wouldn't want to to receive. That's not loving one another.

When you said lazy I was just like “yea” ... so like I don’t have a lot to do really so in my free time I always sorta spent it on hobbies I never really felt much for pursuing a lot not just spiritually even but in general. So when like almost a year ago now I decided to get into reading my Bible and trying to learn i pretty much had to force a big life change. Like one of my hobbies is gaming and I’d be on games most of the day. now I’m not allowing myself that until I do the reading I have for that day with very little exception. So now it’s like fine I want some time into a hobby no being lazy get into my bible reading do what’s important hobbies aren’t that important. That make sense? Number 3 is like yea I don’t really get pushed much and honestly I don’t push as much as I should be. These videos honestly were my push to start actually reading the Bible and making a change but I don’t got someone actively calling me out. Worldly things yes >_> I’ve believed since I was a young boy but never got as involved as I should have do as a result I never really questioned what I was seeing or doing. To me it was just like I know I believe in Jesus and he died to save us I never really considered what that actually meant in terms of action or thinking I should taken or had or at the minimum considered so I was definitely not thinking of how the things I am or were interested in molded me as a person. Like I play games watch anime and American animation Netflix shows etc. if you talked to like high school me about some of the things i chose to watch or play or whatever I wouldn’t have really cared would’ve just been like “well yea but I do believe in Jesus and it’s not like this stuff is effecting me” but now it’s like “well ... watching that or playing this really wasn’t that good for me” like ... for the sake of not talking too much and staying focused I’ll just cut to the point that the content I’ve taken in did definitely effect me in negative ways and although I’ve grown up to be a bit more discerning (I’m not gonna say very but I feel at least a bit more) and now understand that I need to be guided by the holy spirits conviction on these things the damage is kinda already done .-. And this does also kinda go back to laziness and how I spent my time cus like I won’t lie entertainment media like this is a big time sink and distraction and even with my changes there are a lot of days where my brain still tries to wander to them when I’m reading the Bible or commentary and I know I can’t allot them that I feel like before they were idols in my life that I’m only just now understanding how to put back in a place where they aren’t in control. At the same time though I do wonder if I should just give up on these things either for a time or completely and when I think about that as a possibility I wonder a lot of things like how I’ll be sure or should I know/do I know right now or will I be responsible and actually commit to it if I need to get rid of these things. Since I know hobbies aren’t inherently sinful I guess I just worry if they are still getting in God’s way even after changes I’ve made to my life and that sorta makes me just question if I’m really handling it correctly. Man I’m sorry by the way I start talking then just boom this weird stream of conscious pours out like word vomit so forgive me for that

God bless you brother, continue to seek Him and you will see that He is enough for your life. I as well have been absorbed in playing games and reading novels, manga and all those things until I started sinning because I have strayed too far from God. There is a verse in 1 Corinthians 6:12 (CEV) that says, "Some of you say, 'We can do anything we want to.' But I tell you not everything is good for us."
Basically if we are doing those hobbies to distract, to amuse ourselves and/or escape from our responsibilities as Christians to grow in the faith, then perhaps those hobbies will only be bad instead of good for us. Praying for you brother.

Great & powerful teaching. These reasons given are among majority of people today. When reading the Word of God in Bible Study or Kingdom Building Class. Majority of attendances will respond with this statement: " We did not KNOW that was in The Bible". That lets the teacher or speaker know they have NOT STUDIED or READ their BIBLES. It is sad, but VERY true. I was a Sunday School Teacher & Bible Study Teacher also. I experienced this many times when Classes convene. This is where patience is needed the most in being a Teacher or Preacher. As Allen Par is doing today. This needed more than we know. I still speak & teach frequently. The same questions or statements comes up. Let us know majority of people of speaking what they have heard. Has not read the Bible themselves.

"Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever." If a person's foremost motivation for studying scripture is to make sure he/she has something new to teach people then that is evidence that that person is a spiritual baby. The number one thing that should drive you to God's word is a desire to understand how to make choices in your life that will make it possible for you to show Him how much you love Him with your behavior. It is from that experience that one will gain knowledge to be able to share with others as God gives him/her the opportunity to share what he/she has learned. Your foundational purpose is to love God with your life. Your teaching ministry is built on that and grows out of that. Not the other way around.
Looking forward to making a video in response to your video about people from the trans community. What's interesting about this video is that you pointed out a verse about a man who had to teach people the same things over and over again because they were unwilling to make progress. According to the verse you used sometimes that is necessary (As is the case with the Laodicean American church nationwide).
I think I'll do a response video to this one too. I don't think spiritually mature people can be people who don't understand how to engage trans people who they admit are Christians but then go on to seemingly imply that some type of correction must be made to their lives. You seem confused about what kind of counsel should be given to trans people in light of the position you seem to take in that video.

    Going through while listening.
    ----
-Not feeding spiritually: not listening to or reading God's Word, not hearing sermons, not praying: 'running on empty' instead of filling up.
Not trying to push forward, but staying exactly where you are: not trying to read new books, not trying to memorize new passages, not trying to learn new things.
In other words: lazy in regards to spiritual things.
    ----
-Not being spiritually fed: they don't have a source. Not that they don't have access to one (in most cases they do!), but they're not taking advantage of one.
Look for one: get to a better environment in some way or another, even if it's just in researching or a change in routine.
    ----
-No-one challenging us to live a God-glorifying life.
No-one is holding you accountable: no-one is exhorting you, or uplifting you: no one is taking motes out of your eye.
A concealed, dull knife: no-one knows exactly how sharp it is, but it hasn't been sharpened, so we do know it's not that good.
    ----
    -Too many/too much worldly influence.
Too busy serving the world, or making yourself look good to worldly ways or peoples.
You can be friends with folks who aren't Christians - and you should!
But you should stand out from actions that are wrong, and not partake with things that they may partake of and see no issue with.
You can enjoy a lot of things that God gives us: good things.
But if you don't draw any lines, you're definitely crossing ones that God has drawn.
Sometimes you need to surrender something - even if it's something 'not bad in and of itself' - simply because it's a problem for you.
If you're having trouble glorifying God in that action, you either need to change your approach to it, or replace it. Take notice: and sometimes stop and take inventory.
If it's too important for you to let go of it for God, something's off.
(Imagine you get a wonderful gift from a family member, but then sometime later a burglar breaks into your house and holds someone hostage until you hand that thing over. Is it worth more than your relationship with them?
Is that thing worth more than your relationship with God?)
God does want us to be happy, to joy in Him: and He gives us good things to enjoy.
But don't place the creation above the Creator - be thankful to Him always, and seek to live surrendered to Him, rather than trying to make Him 'fit into' your lifestyle.
    ----
-No purpose for living: you don't know what you're doing, or why you're doing it.
Seek to learn, seek to see what God has called upon you to do, and do it.
"If ye love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15)
You know much of what Jesus has taught: find out more, especially in regards to your life, and seek to serve Him.
    ===
I've a long way to go - in regards to discipling others, as well, I think - but Jesus is faithful.

Probably the two main hindrances in my spiritual growth and walk with God are not spiritually feeding myself, and too many worldly influences. There is a lot of laziness involved and lack of discipline and self control. I also make up excuses... procrastination is something I've always struggled with. Thank you Alan, our brother in Christ for helping us identify or realize why we are not growing spiritually. Maybe another reason is that we really too much on men or ourselves for spiritual knowledge rather than God? That's at least one way to make mistakes concerning doctrine! Thanks again!

I definitely put myself on the back burner to help those in need spiritually. Sometimes i wish i did have someone to help sharpen the iron because im definitely a weak sinner. I know all i need is Jesus, but sometimes it would be nice to have a strong Christian friend to challenge me when i fail or get proud or angry and so on. Love this channel thanks for all you do. God bless

Brother. God has been speaking to me on this VERY subject for a month (and even longer but I have been ignorant to it). This months focus has been mainly on Philippians 1 and 2. Yesterday I visited my parents for bible study and the word has confronted me and exposed me to myself and the reality of my laziness in the things of the gospel. I would like to have a communion with God and with the Gospel. I would like to do away with my worldly pleasures (video gaming, binge watching Netflix, being lazy) and learn to humble myself (carrying my cross) and keeping myself away from people who are also spiritually dead. I would like to grow and I ask that you and everyone else reading this could pray for me and others like me. Geez, I would even like to live a monk-like lifestyle if that means getting myself on the right track with my relationship with God. I even looked up Christian monks and the closest thing to it that I could find would be the Nazarite vow. And I guess when I look at the Nazarite vow in a spiritual point of view, I can see that refraining from grapes, wine, and vinegar would equate to pleasures or things pleasing to the flesh (wether sinful or not). Then there is the growing of the hair in which Paul states that nature itself shows that a man growing out his hair is a dishonor to man; which I can see being a sign of humility. Then finally, keeping away (not touching or drawing near) to dead bodies, I can see this being a symbol of keeping away from people, places and things that are spiritually dead. Humility, abstinence from fleshy pleasures, and avoiding the spiritually dead. Now maybe I’m reading too deep into it. Idk, but my hope is to look back a year from now and say “wow, God truly has changed me”.
    God bless.
