    It all depends on which part of the mix of making a Yankee manager is more important to the owners right now, a solid baseball guy, a player/fan favorite, or somebody the brass can push around. In the old days you know that George would've taken a big shot at getting Mattingly no matter what his contract said .

    They think Yankee fans need a sexy name. At the time Torre was hired fans weren't too jacked about him. And look how that went. What's even funnier is that one of the reasons that Showalter was let go was because he was too uptight. Now, supposedly Girardi is being let go because he's too intense. Not exactly the same but not too far off. History repeating itself?

    To all the die hard yankee fans, Should the Yankees have offered Joe a two year extension? I think that would have been smart and given cashman enough time to find a successor. Hell maybe even joe would have won a world series or two. Yankees are in amazing position to land a big time free agent in 2019 and reload the starting pitching. What do you guy think eh?

    • @fringeclass6109
      @fringeclass6109 Před 6 lety +3

      Rafael Gonzalez the point is that Cashman and co. Most likely already have a top 2 or 3 or maybe even 1 candidate they’re ready to go to. All of this speculation is pretty much pointless because they most likely already have their guy. It’s just a matter of the news breaking. No chance that an organization like the Yankees make a decision like this without a set in stone plan in place.

    Aaron Boone ? A Yankee icon ? He had one defining moment in a Yankee uniform and that makes him an icon ? Maybe I'm being too harsh on the guy , but I don't see him as a Yankee icon or their next manager . P.S...... for my money , I'd like to see the Yankees talk Lou Piniella out of retirement .

    I'm glad Girardi's gone because he cost us the postseason & we made it in spite of him.
    1. In the postseason he had Sanchez catching instead of Romine, & that cost us some runs including Game 2 against Houston, which we eventually lost because he left Severino, Robertson,CC, & Khanle in for Games 6 & 7.
    2. He takes CC out in Game 2 of the ALDS with 77 pitches & doesn't challenge a foul tip.
    3. He continued to let Hicks play in the postseason when Ellsbury was 1 of hottest hitters & Torreyes was never given a chance.
    This is just the postseason alone.

    Cashman is the problem with this team, not Girardi. It's all about power with him. He and his stat driven minions have driven this club into the dirt. Shame on Hal and his brothers for letting this happen and being weak minded. You think George would've let this happen? The Yanks were expected to win only 81 games this year over under, and made it to game 7 of the ALCS. They overachieved and beat the analytic numbers plain and simple. Yanks need a manager who's saavy and won't let the media eat him alive.

      camstar24802 No they didn't. They didn't make it out of Pool F. They were not in the WBC playoff. They went 1-2 and didn't only lose to Puerto Rico. The Dominican Republic had the talent to beat Puerto Rico and to win it all, but they didn't even advance past pool play
