@@VivaMarie she made videos about it. The girl she babysits went with friends to victorias secret and when she picked her up the girl was crying about not being able to find a bathingsuit she didn't look bad in. It reminded Jax of her body issues and so she wrote it for that girl 😊

She is not helping everyone with a song, VS is probably pretty mad. Also VS has been heading in the right direction as of late, so pinning all the evil things the fashion industry does onto one brand is just silly to me. Don't hate the player hate the game. Also I think it's absurd that she says I know Victoria's secret, it was made up by a dude. So if your a dude you can't make a fashion brand? Some dudes are probably upset by that, also some of the models who achieved that unrealistic body standard is mad. I'm genuinely shocked that Jax hasn't been sued for defimation.
@@ohyaization Yes, Victoria's Secret has been heading in the right direction following the public's increasing demands to expand it's perception on body expectations throughout the past few years. However, this song was not written for the purpose of "pinning all the evil things the fashion industry does onto one brand". Jax wrote the song for a specific reason; the girl that she had babysat for years made a specific comment regarding Victoria's Secret and her frustration with her own body for not fitting that 'perfect' image that she strived for. This song was meant to be a direct response to the shame and confusion that the girl, and others, may have felt/or will feel. And lol, when saying "I know Victoria's secret, it was made up by a dude" she was not stating that men are not capable of creating a fashion brand. There are hundreds of fashion brands created by men across the world. If you understood the meaning of the song you'd know it was not an attack on gender, rather, it was for the purpose of highlighting that the "perfect" body expectations that brands like this created are not the normal/natural reality. It's simply a made-up image for what people (and the brand) want to see. "Victoria" is not a real person. That's not to say that there aren't those who may naturally be built with that body. But "that body" is not the only body for a human being to have to be deemed beautiful. There are more to bodies than the image that brands attempt to paint. That's all that Jax is communicating to the girl. And no, the Victoria's Secret models who have willingly admitted to starving themselves, going on "water" diets, and overall not being happy about themselves are not upset that an artist chose to write an anti-body-shaming song in a free country. Research the history of Victoria's Secret and the unbelievably toxic expectations that they have (and can continue) to put on people. Although again, that's not important for the song as it was not attacking the models, or males. It was simply telling a message about accepting your own beauty no matter whether that fits into someone/society's 'idea' of a perfect body.

Dude, that girl to girl call song about being cheated on by the same guy should totally be a full song with great lyrics and all. Every now and then we get a song about the girl either crying about cheated on or feeling stronger after being cheated on, it would be great to have a song about the girls finding out that they are both being played and then actually taking it out on the guy and then becoming friends.
I'd love that, especially since more often than not both women in that situation have no idea they're being cheated on.

I love how Jax preserved for her own unique style the forgotten outfits of early 2000s/late 90s teens of chunky sweaters, turtlenecks, bulky pants, high buns, feminine but not sexy and comfort fun fashion. I really miss those stuff such nostalgia for me

Speaking as someone who actually has the opposite problem as people who are obese, and has tried to gain weight most of my life because I was drastically underweight, There's a lot of talk about the health problems and potential fatality of obesity, but the opposite isn't talked about nearly enough. You can die and/or develop health issues from being underweight as well. I'm proud of being Myself, but I'm not proud of my weight. Like others, it's caused by other health issues and therefore hard to fix. As long as me and others in similar situations are trying to get to a healthy weight, then we are doing ok. But it's still not a GOOD thing. It's unhealthy. It just doesn't determine a person's worth.

Adore this song! I'm really interested about the legal side of this. I mean, Jax never really says anything against the brand per say, and nothing they could disprove. However, she is using its name and calling it out. Seeing how much damage this could (rightfully) do to VS, I'm just curious how this works.
This is how it works. Free speech. She is not saying anything illegal, or slanderous even.
You're allowed to say bad things about a business, you're just not allowed to lie or make shit up. If a business can prove that you lied, they can sue you for quite a lot of money.

There's a whole class of finance people who specialize in publishing reports of corruption and mismanagement and then shorting the stock of the companies in question. As long as those reports are correct, the company can't do shit even if their business is ruined and they go bankrupt. There is nothing illegal about publicizing the truth, no matter who looks bad because of it.
Not a lawyer here, but I suppose there are some things that could be dis-proven, if they wanted to go there. First off: Victoria's Secret wasn't made up "by a dude." It was a husband and wife team from California, who created it in the 70s. It was already called that and had expanded to more than 100 stores when they sold it to the "dude from Ohio," the same billionaire, non-basement dwelling guy who founded Bath and Bodyworks - I think this is where the controversy really started, with some of their "perfect body" (?) ad campaigns (to be fair, a lot their content nowadays does feature full-figured models FWIW). Not a fan of VS - in fact, their story is very much full of controversy, hardly a model of political correctness - but I just don't see them making money off of "girls like her," which I take it to mean women with body issues, which I bet is not exactly their core clientele. Conversely, there appears to be plenty of full-figured - or otherwise "non perfect body" (whatever that means) - women that wear those products and look absolutely beautiful and sexy, at least from a male point of view. Ironically, it's the singer who seems to be capitalizing (pun intended) big-time in this case, by furthering what could be legally considered a myth...off of "girls like her." If an anthem is needed, look to Megan Trainor. She already has a far better one, IMHO.

Cheating is about deception, but there is no deception here. It's more of a open relationship kind of deal.

The only thing I have abt the song is that the original of VS owner made it to create comfortable, flattering, and not sexualized lingerie for his wife. She was uncomfortable with granny stuff and sex shop stuff and that's all that was around. So it was designed to be comfy, flattering and for regular women, search "gold label vs". But this is very relevant to the current victoria's secret and what they represent.
