I don't think you can use the old kit for the EVO. The low pressure piston oring (big one) is larger because they increased the diameter of the piston. The old part number was a 177 and the new one is 181. Might flood or bypass air.
You are correct, the old piston is oring is a bit smaller than the Evo. Since this is my personal reg, I am okay with using it. I have not had any issues with doing this. If it wasn’t my personal reg, I would use the correct service kit.
