She was also aging herself. I’ve kept up with her Instagram and music! She’s bubbly and edgy, how she auditioned was how she assumed she had to look, not how she truly looks.
I think the whole bit is supposed to be that Simon could tell she was uncomfortable so he told her to get more real and voila it all fell into sync. I think it was probably written into the a script or something, even if Yoli wasn't in on it.

Ed Sheeran has his own look and can be identified by that look. Regardless of which one of his originals he sings.
As an artist you have to be have the whole package and be able to take harsh criticism and advice to get where you want to be. I agree that she’s stunning and looked beautiful to begin with. But I certainly did not think she was 21 years old, she was aging herself and her energy.

she is amazing but why is she covering these songs that are 'easy' for a voice like her's, she has the soul in her voice so why not belt out some Aretha, or Ross or some Vandross

I'm so happy he stopped her, because after he gave her the opportunity to sing something else, she truly nailed it! And instead of just being a good singer, she showed herself to be a CRAZY good singer, full of soul and heart. And you can see in Simon's grin, he's thinking "Yeah, I knew she was better than that".
