- You say karate, I say kung fu. You say a remake, I say a literal copy. Here are all the sins we found in the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid.
Next week: Sins of destruction, sins of the west.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

That would be sooooooooo much fun
he be talking like scat man right next to me hell nawwwww
Ikr, sounds awesome
Ankith Sreekumar I would spit on him
Awesome
You missed a sin: he wins with a kick to the head even though they said no hits to the face at the beginning of the tournament.
actually, that's only a problem that the original has; the tournament shots in this movie show the Fighting Dragons winning several rounds with face hits.
Also another sin when Cheng was about to finish off Dre in the ally how did they not see him block the punch and how did he get over the closed gate
Hey fuck it right if he does a back flip with one leg and finished a bully who am I go complain
RYVBIHN L Im pretty sure it means no punching the face; the same rule applies in Taekwondo

The bricks on public ping pong tables is a real thing.
Few advantages for bricks:
1. Easy to procure and replace, back then in China there's always a construction site within a 200-yard radius.
2. 0 cost, see reason #1.
3. Nobody steals bricks, if they do, see reason #1.
4. The width of a brick is almost identical to how high a net should be.
5. The ball bounces back if you hit it into the net, so you ain't gotta bend over and reach for it.

There's a cut out part in the film where Jackie Chan fights the other teacher. It's a shame that it was cut out honestly, but it's kinda understandable because it out shines the other fights.
Think they deleted it because it kind of contradicts Mr. Han's ideology of Kung Fu
@@juanmanuelcorrea7673 true and its a damn shame since i watched it and it was honestly ten times better then this movie
@@juanmanuelcorrea7673 Mr. Han didn't intend to start the fight, he just want to stop that bad teacher from slapping the kid.
Yep
Funny because there's a scene from the 1986 film The Karate Kid Part II where John Kreese (the Cobra Kai/Antagonists' Sensei) assaults Johnny Lawrence because he lost the fight and Mr Miyagi steps in to defend the student and embarrass the teacher. This film really does just copy every aspect of the original without any of the heart.

CinemaSins: 3:16 do they really need a dub and sub at the same time?
Also CinemaSins: Puts subs on his videos everytime he speaks.
Wow
It's better than youtube subs
You quite often see hard-coded subtitled programs in Chine/Taiwan/Japan area. Comedy-Variety shows like to pump up the style for comedic effect, but it's there for clarity between diverse dialects, and probably for access for deaf citizens. I would imagine for Spongebob it's also part of a literacy project.
TL;DR it's just a dubbed show, but it happens to be subbed as well as a matter of course
@@pfefferfilm It more about not everyone speaks Mandarin, instead their own regional dialect are used. However the written language have been unified for thousands of years regardless of dialects

My dad and I love this movie, but this video is hilarious.
About the subtitles in Spongebob--that is actually a thing. Since Chinese is such a complex language, words said could actually be misinterpreted to mean different things, that is why subtitles are placed underneath, for clarification of the meaning.
I was actually just about to comment that myself ^^
Also, those in southern China don’t speak Mandarin, but the writing is the same.
Not necessarily because it's complex... more like because it is vague (fluent in Chinese and English, translator for most of my life), no number or tense, huge number of homophones, and the tonal system on top. In addition, every province has a dialect and even some cities (Shanghai-ese). Some dialects can be easily understood by a Mandarin speaker and some are almost impossible to understand (goddamn Shanghai-ese). Qin Shi Huang united the writing, Mao united the language... apparently, one was more successful that the other. So, Chinese subtitles make sense and are ubiquitous in the media of the Greater China region.
Gaius Marius how is that not complex...
Hahaha! I guess you're right. That does sound pretty complex. I think I'm like the frog being slow boiled... kinda used to all the annoyances but still ticked off by those annoyances.
8:56 Han stays solo, i see what you did there
You liked that but totally skipped over the Doctor Dre?
I'm an introvert, and I would have said no as well. But, if she insisted, she could spend the night with me.
That's the *point*
Should he mention every single joke that existed in the entire video so you can be assured he didn't miss any of them?
I heard a lot of the time when foreigners move to Asia they end up mostly hanging out with each other, so that's probably why he was so easily able to seek him out. Also I honestly enjoyed this movie a lot I found this movie fun as a child however I didn't know this was a remake to an original movie either, so I can understand why some people may prefer the older version, for me, as someone who can't compare since I've only seen one of them, I simply enjoyed the new movie.
This actually a pretty decent movie. I watched it before I watched the original karate kid so I think I could fully appreciate it. And I'm glad I did.
Your taste is trash🙂↔️
The rocks are used in the table tennis board because its an outdoor one in a park. They don't bother to take it inside when it rains so a more permanent "net" is used instead of an actual net. An actual original net is quite flimsy and can easily get stolen or lost.
So build like, a small metal bar across it? Or wood? Or plastic or anything really. That park looked pretty damn nice, no reason why they'd make a ping pong table with no net substitute surely
They didn't use a net because the only ones they had available were made in China
Dude, never seen sports equipment that's been neglected by cities authorities? Whatever happened to that table, it's not getting repaired for another 10-15 years. Kids gotta improvise, adapt and overcome
Schulstand lol nice bear grylls quote
Those rocks are a perfectly valid net substitute. They are easy to come by. And they are free. It's not a ridiculous choice at all.

@@tru3boc wdym dude? That scene with Pat Morita drunkenly mourning the death of his wife and child in an army camp is haunting. Yes he mumbles but most people can understand the message and what he's saying. A man who seems so happy haunted by such a devastating loss. "The first American born miyagi, waiting to be born" is honestly heart breaking.
@@tru3boc Don't get me wrong that scene with Jackie Chan is the best part of the remake, and Jackie Chan gave a good performance but Pat Morita is something else in those films. Especially when you hear his real voice
In the original, Mr. Miyagi didn't have Daniel doing repetitive actions with no purpose in and of themselves. Instead, Daniel was performing actual constructive tasks that were secretly training his muscle memory for karate, and the way this is revealed to the character and the audience is magical. The "jacket on, jacket off" nonsense doesn't even come close to capturing that same magic.
Yeah. In the original KK, Daniel was getting tasks done while learning muscle memory, painting fence, waxing cars, etc. But the picking up the jacket repetitively wasn't getting anything done, it was just 100% mindless repeating.

"Would kids in China really need their Robert the sponge who wears the quadrilateral trousers both dubbed and subtitled?"
Yes they really need it, since Chinese isn't a single language but a family of between 7 to 10 different languages, without counting the numerous dialects that vary significantly from one area to the next, plus all the non-Chinese languages spoken in China (like Tibetan, Uyghur, etc...). On the other hand, they do use a similar written language all across the country, based on the dialect spoken in and around Beijing, hence the subtitles.

In China there is actually lots of ping pong web made of stones.
because it is easier to find bricks on the street than waiting some adult to come and build something actual.
M R why would anyone steal a ping pong net. For fishing???
You'd be surprised the sort of things people steal here, basically anything can be stolen will be. Any waist high surface can be turned into a ping pong table, but a net is what makes it real, so a lot of public places won't replace the stolen net with a new one, or perhaps they never had a real net to begin with. At least that's my interpretation.
Sir Digby Chicken Caesar I mean I’m from China I’ve heard about stealing toilet paper. But I just don’t understand stealing ping pong net lol. What about the joke?
I didn’t get it cause Detroit is a real place
Actually, yes -- Chinese children WOULD need their Spongebob both dubbed AND subtitled. All Chinese media has subtitles because the dialects are so different that someone who speaks, say, Mandarin might have trouble understanding someone who speaks, say, Cantonese. But the Chinese characters mean the same for every speaker. So, yeah. It would be sin-worthy if it were NOT subtitled.
Thank you, was about to comment this.
Just a small addition to the fact that their are multiple dialects. There are Traditional Chinese characters and Simplified. So they do look different...but Simplified is used extensively in Mainland China while Traditional is used more often in Taiwan or Hong Kong. I think breaking it down to the spoken dialects confuses this point a little...so just adding to your comment here, not correcting it.
He’s American give the man a break
Wouldn't it be easier to just subtitle it?
I've bought movies from China before and they did always have english AND chinese subtitles despite the characters speaking Chinese but I never knew why - now I know! that's cool, thanks for that!

Dude, It is not harmful for a child to be fit like that. It is in the Medical books. I was like that at probably 10 years old. My Father was a Career Soldier. My older brother and I worked out and ran with him everyday. I'm Retired Army and 71 years old and still VERY fit. So is my brother, who is 75. It's called exercise and proper diet and living clean. Both of my children are still in the Army and very fit and they were started out young as I was, and maintained their fitness. As well as my brothers Son. You don't need enhancement to be fit. Look over CZcams and you can see MANY Asian Kids that look the same way, and even younger. Why? They are not spoiled and don't watch TV and play games or on a PC all freaking day, like most of the USA kids are and have been for 30 years now. They work, train, eat proper and have PARENTAL guidance while they are young. Unlike many US parents that could give a shit that their kids weigh 50 to 100 pounds overweight, eat garbage, with no exercise, and NO guidance what so ever. All kids should look something like Jaden Smith. I'm proud of the kid and don't even know him. I do know he is a good person. He's worth $8M bucks and is involved in all kinds of charities and drives for clean drinking water, etc. That is a good person. One with dedication and drive. Which the US kids have none.

I love how the Detroit dude is just like "Im gonna watch this kid butcher Chinese and laugh about it later before I tell him that I don't speak Chinese."
Fun fact, when Jackie Chan was contacted to make the movie, he asked for his script of the film's "Daniel San" because he thought he was going to act as it, the producers had to explain him that he was going to be the film's "Miyagi"
5:55 "They run into these guys everywhere, are they cloned?!"
That's racist *DING*
it's not racist it's only racist if they mean it in a mean way
He wasn’t referring to race in any way.
It was a cinema sins joke, guys 🙄🤦♂️😂
Haydn Gilchrist yeah Ik, but the joke doesn’t make sense.
Max Viv If he was referring to race it would be him making the joke, not me 🙄 it sounds racist, he didn't mean it to sound racist, that's the joke
"I will teach you Kung Fu"
But this is KARATE kid.
In my mind, this movie is why Cobra Kai exists.
This makes more sense when you don’t get it.
The fact that it’s called “Karate Kid” but then he learns Kung Fu instead… that’s what disappointed me the most
This film: a remake of the other movie
CS: thats illegal
And this new movie sucks
And doesn’t at all resemble the original movie

I remember I saw this movie years ago, it was on tv and I had nothing else to watch. I vaguely remembered it, what I remembered the most was that I couldn't for the life of me tell whether the main character was a male or female.
This movie kinda low-key put mud in the face of the original movies…
