Trust me I am highly aware this is not an in depth video. This is intended for simple problems and understanding the basics of ohm's and keeping your equipment healthy. If you have any negative comments plz keep them to yourself, me and the community will gr8ly appreciate it. And I am going to be posting more in depth videos later on. Thank you for your Cooperation!

The Blue relays on the circuit board PROTECT the output transistors from failure,
those relays have been an ongoing issue with several SONY receivers.
If you know how to use a pencil solder iron you can add additional solder to the relay connections.
The circuit board connections solder on both the bottom and the top of the circuit board and during manufacture of the board not enough solder gets to flow thru to the top side.
You have to be really careful not to bridge solder to the other traces on the circuit board
Best of luck..and thanks Andrew for pushing me to look further into this issue.

Interesting sound engineering topic here. I have a Denon DRA-800H Receiver which 2 speaker outputs , A and B . I have 1 pair of Elac Debut 6.2s connected to the A , and had a pair of Elac Debut Reference speakers on the B connection. 14 gauge wire is being used. I recently added in parallel a second pair of Fluance Signature Series Surround HiFi Bookshelf speakers to the B speaker output. At first it played great, really enhanced the sound , room filling sound. Then the Denon clipped, o overheated and snut down ( the power light flashed in red and then it shut off). I was playing a CD via a digital optical input to the Denon at pretty loud volumes , 65 max is 100). Recent experiment , plugged theReceiver into a separate ele trical outlet, turned off the A speakers, and played at similar volume levels without issues. Next experiment to rei troduce playing the A speakers si simultaneously. Caution is needed here because you can fry the Receiver and or the speakers due to impedance overloads. The Denon receiver is rated at 100 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms. The speakers are all rated at 8 ohms but 6 ohms as nominal. Would running the the 2 pairs of paralleled B speakers be less of a strain by wiring them in series or getting a Niles speaker selector with impedance protection?

Very insightful video. Thanks for the lesson. I have a RCA home theatre system made more than 10 years ago, model number RTD258. It has been working fine except few months ago had to change the fan in it. A couple of weeks ago, I would turn it on, a some seconds later, it would shut off. After a couple of hours of looking inside to see what the problem was, after I unhooked the power control wire for the subwoofer from the receiver, it stays on. What would the issue there be? Bad subwoofer? Bad wiring? Bad connection where the power control connects to the circuit board? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Your description of series and parallel is incorrect. Parallel is as the word means in math. You said connecting the negative of one speaker to the positive of the other and then the remaining poles to the receiver. That is a series connection.

when the receiver is overheating, does that also effect the output Subwoofer? because when having my receiver heating up, my Woofer it just keeps on turn on and off by itself.. every 2 seconds.. randomly*

+Justin Sai Smith that cud be the problem. Do you know how much ohms ur subwoofer is and how much ur receiver can handle ???? and does ur receiver turn off or does the subwoofer stop kicking ????

+andrew bodzer - My subwoofer ohm is 4 ohm and my subwoofer say (8 ohm only). and No, My receiver does not turn off.. but the subwoofer stop kicking (power off and then On by itself repeating) every 2 or 3 seconds after using it for about 5 or 10 minutes.. I am new to this stuff so I have no idea what I am facing just brought my first Receiver. I am a poor guy so couldn't afford a brand new one. Just picked up from a second hand store.

I don't want to discourage you but you're not coming over for knowledgeable I think you should read a few books in the library on basic Electronics and this way you have a bit more knowledge the next time you make a video I have been doing this type of work for a long time I started off as a kid just by reading a few books I got interested in it went to school for it so I suggest that you go to the public library and get out a few books on the subject

This is why you should not believe everything (probably more accurate figure would be 90%) of what you see on CZcams and if you believe this video and it's suggestions on how to change the load being ohms by wiring in parallel or series. This advice is incorrect and will have anyone who follows his advise overloading the amp possibly (most likely) causing damage especially at high volume levels. Ohms can be seen as restriction, hypothetically if electricity were water and the wire or speaker coil was a pipe caring the flow of water then having the water split into two "parallel" pipes would allow the water to flow with less restriction (lower ohms) but if you were to have the water pass through twice the amount of pipe this would make it more restrictive (higher ohms) so running two speakers back to amp with both negative wires joined and both positive wires joined would be easing the flow giving twice the amount of "pipe" to flow through (4ohms and 4ohms in parallel meaning side by side = 2ohms. Alternatively if you had the same two 4ohm speakers coming back to the amp and one speakers negative connected to the amp and the remaining positive connected to the other speakers negative then having the second speaker completing the connection by connecting it's positive to the amp then the electricity would have to travel through the one speaker and also through the other speaker before it completes the circuit so it has a lot further or more restriction on its passage making the ohms increase (4ohms and 4ohms in series meaning through one speaker and then through the other speaker before completing the circuit would give you 8 ohms)
The higher the ohms the more resistance to flow) so this video is the opposite in regards to the two wiring methods. Going bellow or even above the amps intended load capabilities will result in damage. I would suggest this video be removed as its only teaching people to damage there equipment, if you want to help people as you clearly do by even posting this video then redo it but teaching the correct way on how to change ohms and when it should be done.
