You can save yourself a lot of air and time by not mentioning that a Mercedes is a collectors car, since all Mercedes are collectors items, no matter how bread and butter they might have been back in the day.
My business partner tells me that when he was a boy in Germany, the most-frequent autobahn accidents where when Volkswagens would pull to the left lane to pass a car that a Mercedes S-class would suddenly come up, heretofore unseen, behind the VW at 190Kph/120Mph and crash into the Volks, usually killing all aboard, while the Mercedes people might emerge with bumps on their foreheads. S-class cars always stayed in the left lane. Kinda takes the glamour out of knowing those collision cages and crumple zones were there.

Notice that M-B never made a cheesy, stupid, crappy, absurd 2-speed automatic like Chrysler's Powerflite or Chevrolet's Powerglide. Not even 3-speeds were good enough; M-B had 4 speeds, but it was better than GM's Hydra-Matic because it had a torque converter unlike the fluid coupling in GM's jerky clunk-omatic.

Why did he call it Daimler-Benz in the 1950's? They stopped calling the cars by the Daimler name in 1926...
Mikkel Køster Jensen , the COMPANY, name is still Daimler-Benz. Only the cars are named Mercedes-Benz.
