    Hurray for pain killers! That port is such a blessing. Rest as long as you need!

  • @rentechpad
    @rentechpad Před 3 lety +4

    Hydration with any chronic illness that requires help to hydrate well, such as daily fluids by port as well as orally can just in regular circumstances be difficult to maintain. When you add to that the demands of additional needs when pregnant it can end up being a day to day thing requiring listening to your body, closely measuring intake and output as well a a good team discussion among all your physicians as to what are the right fluids to be using. When not pregnant many due well with just normal saline, but once pregnant need LR or D5 or a combination of both. And sometimes its necessary to work out what is needed for daily infusion and what to have and the amount to use for say a bolus if you have any signs of dehydration. It's easy to become dehydrated even taking on all the oral fluids you can and we do see women wuth no medical issues otherwise often admitted with issues during pregnancy, including contractions simply due to being dehydrated. Also the more a pregnant you are the more chance that some of the normal Braxton Hicks contractions can cause pain until the body gets used to a larger womb stretching and exercising. With my daughter we have to have different types of fluid available, one for her normal hydration and another which she gets as a bolus when symptoms of dehydration or lower CF pressure happens. You may really need a sit down with both your OB and the doctor that normally handles you fluid requirements as you do not want to overload your system and washout things you and the baby need, while you also want to make sure you are both getting what you do need.

    Janice, I totally relate to what you're feeling...I passed a kidney stone when I was pregnant with my youngest son. After giving birth to my son, I realized that I'd rather give birth any day than to pass another stone. I have had to have another stone removed a couple years after my son was born, and I wouldn't want to go through that either. Unfortunately, I've had a small stone living in my right kidney for a couple years now... it hasn't grown, nor has it shown any idea of moving. I do know that once the stone is in the urethra, it's smooth sailing. Just do what the dr's say, and hopefully it will pass quickly and without and issues. 💜

    I hope you're feeling better! A kidney stone is not any fun! I have never had them I have had friends who had them and my brother-in-law had one and he said he wanted to pull his eyes out it hurts so bad. I have a friend who had to have hers removed so hopefully yours is small enough that it will pass. We need to keep you out of the hospital until that little baby is born! You have a fantastic husband who loves and cares for you so much! I can't believe that your pain level is so low you said your pain level was only three or four. I think mine would be a lot higher. I don't think I ever want one of those. Rest up! ❤️
