Ramanuja never went to Jagannath temple. Even if he had went I don't think so Jagannath would have said 'Get Lost' to Ramanuja himself. His thaniyan (his worshipable shloka) is 'Yo nityam ACHUTAM pada yugma rukma..' or The one who held the feet of Achyuta. First I strongly believe the story is false to the core. Purely cooked up. No way in any dimension that it can be true. But out of all odds, if the story is true, I will never visit Jagannath Temple in my life. Never. Why because Jagannath telling Ramanuja to get lost, Ramanuja is a purest devotee, he is karunakara, he is recommender of moksham to people for free. In Tamil nadu Ramanuja has so many wonderful connections with Lord Vishnu . Lord jagannath is someone who forgets himself infront of his devotees bhakti and dances in their bhakti song. He plays like a kid with his devotees. If his bhakta orders him to stop until he/she arrives at puri during rathyatra, his rath nandighosh never moves even an inch. He is the most adorable god in entire universe. People in odisha call him kaliya and treat him like their friend, brother or son. How can he say some devotee 'get lost'. He is the only one who comes out of his temple to see his bhakt. When you talk about such great Acharyas I think you must do it with proper knowledge about them and with a good intention. Actually that is not Puri Jagganath. It is Anandha padmanabhaswamy from kerela. Nambudhiris in kerela wanted their unique form of worship for Anandha Padmanabhaswamy. Fearing interferences of swami Ramanujar they prayed to the lord, by which Swami Ramanujar was transferred from Kerela to Thirukurungudi temple near Tirunelveli.
I had heard a very beautiful story about Sri Ramanujacharya in one of the discourses by Swami Sarvapriyananda of the Vedanta Society. So I decided to know more about Him and landed here. Much to my dismay, the speaker was hell bent on establishing the supremacy of Dualism over Advaita Vedanta. His discourse seemed pretentious and almost felt like an “Abrahmic” lecture of my way or the highway. Try less cacophony and agitation and more substance next time
With due respect sir, to establish supremacy of vishishtadvaita (distinguishing oneness and difference) is what Ramanujacarya's mission in life was...so if prabhu passes on this knowledge, he's not to blame; don't shoot the messenger
Well, Sripada Ramanujacharya himself was against Advaita Vedanta and heavily criticized it for its faults. He despised it and his own interpretation is that of Vishishtadvaita Vedanta. He promoted the idea that only Sriman Narayana can grant Moksha and the impersonalist bliss was only of temporary nature. So, I believe the first discourse that you heard on him was probably very inaccurate. And if you do consider the Vaishnava way to be like the "Abrahamic" way then so be it. We don't care a bit about your opinion because Vaishnava Acharyas have done great scholarly work to refute the false claims of Mayawad and we are not going to accept them just to be "different".
Swamiji, you seem to be young and fairly well read; sadly, you are also biased and arrogant. Your understanding about Advaita is incorrect. Advaita stresses on gyana, but in no way, dismisses bhakti. Who says Sankara called God formless? In verse 27 of the Bhajagovindam, Adi Sankara says 'dhyeyam Sripati roopam ajasram'. Is ' soundaryalahari' a work on a formless god? Advaita makes you think to realize that you are one with God. It is mind boggling for the lazy ones who look to liberate themselves without any effort.

Having been exposed to the three systems, it can tell you for sure that Advaita is no rocket science, as this Swamiji is making it out to be. Advaita considers mukti as the culmination of the realization of the self; Mukti is someting to be realized and not a commodity that is to be sought for. I hold all the Acharyas in equal reverence, and, hence, cannot stand criticisms of any Acharya and their philosophy. All the three systems are as per Vedic canons and all the Acharyas are right in their own way. Iam reminded of the saying of the great Ramana Maharshi who described the there systems as three states: ' the man and the mango (dwaita) ; the man savouring the mango (visishta advaita) and the man having consumed and digested the mango (advaita). Yadavacharya must have referenced Kapi as monkey (and it's prushtha) in Chandogyopanishad from a non-dual (Ekam Adwitiyam Brahman) perspective, where there is no difference between front and back, top and bottom, left and right (this is from placing the "I" at the highest level not the I (jeevatma, or ego+Chitra+buddhi+Manas) complex. Hare Krishna!! Monkeys prushtham is nothing to be disgusted about, it is a part that the Parabrahman created modifying the 5 elements similar to how He created the brain. Transcendental "kicking" is different. It can mean "sent away" also. The word "kicked" may have been used in that sense.

When a upanishad is interpreted the level of the speaker should be carefully considered. Also, not sure if Yadavacharya himself conspired an attempt on Ramanuja or it was his students. These stories should be backed by proper reference.
